I unknowingly ordered from this ghost kitchen on Sunday. I always prefer to support an actual small business, but that's a story for another day. The price for this was spot on, BOGO breakfast sandwich, BOGO hashbrowns and an iced coffee for 25ish bucks to my door. The breakfast sandwich was greasy and didn't have much flavor to it. To start off, I ordered through Uber Eats and it was a half hour late. That's not necessarily the store's issue, I'm mentioning it because it affected the quality of the food. Let's begin with the Hashbrown nuggets. Because of the lateness, they arrived soggy and their boxes full of condensation from the steam. Perhaps a better method of packaging them to prevent this in the future. Taste wise, both are personally not to my liking at all. On their descriptions, they sound delicious. But both just have a weird taste in their own ways and neither are appealing to me. Plus the fact they weren't crispy really just made them not good. The sweet potato casserole cup, as shown in the picture, came with stickiness all around the sides and just dirty looking. Presentation threw me off. Taste wise, it's just mashed sweet potatoes and a soggy topping with some nuts thrown in. Could have used more sweetness and to me, I'd prefer a not soggy top. An actual crumble, instead of just all mushy wetness. The Texas. Now let's get into the main sandwich. I ordered extra brisket, and asked to sub the chipotle ketchup for their mild bbq sauce. This thing was so wet from the condensation that the paper stuck to the top brioche bun and I had to peel it off. And there wasn't really any sauce on the sandwich- there was so little it was like you put it on and then wiped it off, and the smear that stuck to the bun was left. No flavor of bbq sauce anywhere. So really the only wetness on the sandwich was condensation and egg yolk. The brisket was good, but it's the same brisket from "Long Shot BBQ", because this place, that place, "Texitos" and "Pedronis" all are housed on the same location, using the same products. Wouldn't recommend the items I bought today. If I want the brisket again I can just order it from their Long Shot BBQ option. read more

I'm not sure how this restaurant has such high ratings but I was very sad with my most recent visit here. The location of this establishment is in a small shopping center. There are no seats and it is a takeout only. It shares its kitchen with a few other restaurants, including a pizza and taco place. As an egg aficionado, this place was a huge disappointment. The egg was definitely baked and the cheese was not melted on top. The special sauce tasted like a mix of sriracha and ketchup. The cost is also a lot for what you are getting size and quality wise. Always bring out of towners here when I give a food tour and they always say that their Day Break meal was the best they had during their stay. We loved Day Break Eggs. I called in an order for pickup and the gentleman I spoke to was so friendly. I ordered a bunch of stuff and it was all ready in about 20 minutes. I personally had the Texas sandwich, and we got the pulled pork hash brown nuggets and Nutella French toast sticks to share. That sandwich was a delicious monster, the Nutella sticks were a a way better version of Burger King French toast sticks, and the hash browns were pretty damn good too. My wife and our friend each got bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches and they both loved them. I don't know if Day Break is here to stay, I think it's an offshoot of a catering company so they can keep working during the pandemic, but I hope it stays because this was possibly the best breakfast sandwich I've had in Philly. This place seems to operate out of a ghost kitchen in Gray's Ferry. Across from fresh grocer, this small counter take out operation shares a building with a catering company. If your gps takes you into a fenced parking lot, you are at the right place. There's multiple businesses operating out of this ghost kitchen including a pizza joint, bbq joint, as well as a mexican joint depending on the hours. All these joints seem to compliment one another and have similarities in each menu. For the breakfast hours, you have Day Break Eggs. I found this place in search of a breakfast burrito. I got the smokey pete bf burrito which consisted of over medium eggs, caramelized onions, bbq sauce, and a barbeque style sausage. I also got the hash browns with brisket and the nutella french toast sticks. Everything was pretty decent. The only complaint I had was the sausage casing was too tough to bite through so the meat was hard to evenly distribute in each bite. The hashbrowns were different than the typical hashbrowns. They were little individual fritters with brisket and potatoes consisting about 5-7 pieces with a side of ketchup. Tried the Texas breakfast sandwich and it might be the best breakfast sandwich I've had since moving to Philly a year ago. Brisket was cooked perfectly. They also don't skip out on how much they give you, the sandwich had three eggs and 4 good sized pieces of brisket. As good as the food was (and it was excellent) the best part of the experience was probably the owners. They were extremely kind and appreciative when I placed the order and when I picked it up. He notified me what happened with Grubhub and all the updates he received after several calls with customer service. Breakfast sandwiches can be pretty hit or miss with delivery, but the Franklin was amazing. The egg has so much flavor and is a bit more of a soft scramble (which I love).
