At the end of the sermon, my wife, and daughter looked at me and said we had found it. Very caring people. Welcoming folk, want to know you, help you in any way. The church renovated all the bathrooms and access to be accessible to all. As an example, communion comes to those in scooters, walkers or mobility chairs. Personal service. Additionally, we found a great Sunday school class to belong to. When it came time to join the church, our whole class stood with us as we joined. We have four missions in Abilene: McMurray University, Bowie grade school, our neighborhood, and our Pre school academy. My wife and I work with grade school kids tutoring after school. Very fulfilling, enriching and makes us feel better. I hope I've done our church service placing them on Yelp.

I live out of town and recently visited my family in Abilene. I went to chapel at St John's and then spent a few minutes visiting my granddaughter's class and a third grade class, taught by my daughter, who recently left public school teaching. I am a former teacher; my sister is a teacher. I had two aunts who were teachers, so I believe I can objectively say: St John's is a very special school.

Tar smells just like gasoline because, they are both petroleum based products, which is know to make people extreme sick by inhaling the fumes!!!! There cousins are the same age give or take a month or two. And are able to speak better, already know there alphabet, and understand much more about the world. However this day care hasn't don't much in this department. My two kids don't even speak vary well even with my daily practice and work with them. The bathrooms routinely had dried poop on the tank and on multiple occasions I gagged walking in the front door from the smell of urine. The level of laziness in not properly cleaning or sanitizing carried over into the way my child was treated. I saw teachers texting almost daily and for weeks during drop off there was no acknowledgement or attempt to help my child adjust or become comfortable at the center. The center leadership is inconsistent in their communication with parents and very clearly does not value child development (only the avoidance of anything that requires the center and teachers to do their job). As a direct result of this center, I will never recommend kindercare or select a kindercare location for the care of child. If kindercare corporate allows any of their locations to be managed this way - I do not want any part of it.

My sewage line wasn't draining properly so I got bid from them. They used a camera (sophisticated) to explore the sewage line, which was about 60 ft from the fence line/alley. Guy said that it was old clay pipe that needed to be replaced for $7000. And they would have to replace it all the way to the city main, which would make Abilene the only city that allows anyone to work on their city mains. So just to check on what the city had which I figured was upgraded to pvc (it was) I dug down to the sewer line at the edge of the property. So I started digging down to the sewer line a couple of other places just to verify what the plumber claimed. It ended up only being clay about 10 ft on my property from the city's line. So if the guy had been honest and not tried to grossly exaggerated or pad the estimate he would have said replace the 10 feet of clay because he couldn't have missed it with the camera that he ran from the trap next to my house down toward the fence line. This is probably a common way that unscrupulous plumbers line their pockets. It took a day to dig up that 10 ft of clay and replace w pvc. Cost $89 for supplies. What a profit margin. The sad thing or maybe part of the scam was the fish (Christian) symbol on his truck.

I had a carpenter ant problem, and the first tech was great although he showed up pretty early. He was a very friendly and professional former member of the military. He seemed knowledgeable and told me to give the chemicals time to work but to call back if I still had ants. The price I was charged was somewhat higher than I was quoted but I was told they guarantee their work and would come back as many times as it took to take care of the problem. A few weeks go by and I call to let them know I still have the ants- they never left although I did find some dead ones for a few days. I was to,d they would come back to treat again. They called to cancel the initial appointment as my tech had a death in the family. I expressed sympathy and told them no problem. I rescheduled and then they called on the new day to change the time. I agreed to work with them and they sent a different tech out. He was courteous and went quickly about his work. Told me to give things time to take effect but let them know if I still have ants. A few weeks go by and I call to report that the ants are still not gone. I was told I would be charged again in full because my "warranty" had run out. I tried to explain that they never got rid of the ants but was told there was no way around having to pay another couple hundred bucks. My understanding of warranties is that you buy something and the warranty guarantees it for a set amount of time. I was under the impression that they would get rid of the ants and guarantee me they would stay gone for 3 months or whatever. I didn't get what I paid for to begin with so not comprehending why my warranty would be out. I'm thankful Lawrence Hall didn't declare the warranty on my truck expired before I got the truck! Two stars because they were courteous but I didn't get what I paid for and will now need to find a pest control company that can actually get rid of carpenter ants.

Day is a great place to take your children. My kids have pretty much grown up with Day Nursery. I have a 4 children that attended the Sherry Ln location. They started when they were little. 5yrs, 3yrs, 3mnths then when I had my baby she started when she was 3wks. They now are to old to attend but volunteer for every event they have. My children loved going everyday. Now I have a baby that attends the Cedar St location and I just love his teachers he has had. His teacher now is even helping potty train in her class (18-24mnths). She does so much for those babies. Always smiling and talking to them. That class does so good for being just so little. I don't think I would take my kids anywhere else other than Day Nursery of Abilene. read more
