    Starter salad

Our first trip here - July 2021. This place is very clean. Seating is not "social distanced", but you're not on top of each other. No masks worn by staff or other customers - we aren't wearing a mask (we are vacinnated). It's very hot today, and the temp inside is perfect Staff is very friendly. Looking around, good looks good. Ketchup, salt & pepper, jellies and honey, coffee creamer (various flavors), and sugar and substitutes - all on the table, full, and clean. Starter salad is fresh - onions, tomatoes, croutons, lettuce. I got an omelette with buttermilk pancakes and toast. Everything was good, but typical of breakfast. My husband got meatloaf and mashed potatoes, broccoli, and garlic bread. I guess it was good since his plate is clean! He mentioned that the potatoes were real, good amount of gravy, and the right saltiness. We will definitely stop here again when in town.

Waitress (Liz) rude. Food greasy, sausages were awful. Not cooked through, no tip. FYI

Liz was rude, food greasy, not normal. No tip given. Did not want to fix it. Will not order from her again.

Wonderful breakfast stop dining area is a little blah but the quality service and the great food make up for the ambiance or lack there of

They have the best breakfast here. Double blueberry pancakes are two/three meal size but are amazing!

Overall the food was good and cheap, and service was attentive. It was typical diner food. Nothing memorable but does the trick.

I was pleasantly surprised that the Poe theme is clever and subtle rather than overly cheesy. The décor has more of an antique bookstore feel, with fun Poe inspired names throughout the menu. Despite the theme, there's nothing dark or dreary about this place. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the service was prompt. Our waiter was friendly and had some great recommendations. The soup sampler was easily the highlight for me. I've never seen anything like it before! I tried the baja chicken enchilada, mushroom with brie cheese, beef chili with beans, and the special of the month potato curry. I ranked them from favorite to least favorite, but honestly, everything was delicious in its own way. My drink and sandwich with a side of potato salad was very tasty! I finished the whole thing! If you're a Poe fan, the witty menu names will definitely make you smile. The food is good, portions are satisfying, and the prices are reasonable. I'd absolutely come back if I'm ever in the area again to try more of the menu.

Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the building, the upstairs seating area is only accessible by stairs. Quaint, charming café that serves lunchtime treats, coffee, and pastries. The hot cocoa is divine! I really like the literary/"dark academia" vibes and decor, as well as the many cute birdie knick-knacks roosting about the space. Service was friendly and unrushed, I felt free to linger and enjoy at my leisure. I will make it a point to stop in here whenever I pass through Port Huron! I dropped in during the week and there was zero-wait for a table, although I imagine the place probably bustles on weekends!

I had the cucumber boat stuffed with mayo free tuna, avocado, onion, everything seasoning. My bubble tea- tarro with tapioca could have used a little more flavor. It tasted just like plain milk although it looked the normal purple color. I prefer things aren't sweet so that was good but it didn't have much of any taste beyond milk. My son's pineapple Arnold Palmer with mango bubbles was perfect for him.

The decor…read morehas a fun, semi festive New Orleans inspired feel, but it's definitely more subtle than the over the top Mardi Gras atmosphere I was expecting, especially having been to NOLA several times. I was really hoping the food would bring some of that Big Easy flavor. I ordered the Reuben, and honestly, it was pretty good! I liked that the corned beef came in chunky pieces rather than thin slices, and the Reaper sauce actually had a nice spicy kick, which I appreciated. The Blue Waters drink was pretty basic, though, and the carrot cake didn't really stand out either. Overall, the food felt more like solid cafe style fare than the bold, flavorful dishes I associate with New Orleans cuisine. I was tempted to try a few more things to see if I had simply ordered the wrong items, but unfortunately, there were quite a few fruit flies flying around, which made me lose my appetite a little. Would I recommend it for authentic New Orleans flavor? Probably not. But if you're looking for a casual cafe with a little New Orleans inspired flair and some decent menu options, it's worth checking out. Just don't go expecting the full Big Easy experience.

I never knew what that meant until we went in and I read the back of the menu. My wife said people recommended this place on the state park camping fb page. So we finally tried. First off I'm not a big chicken fan but I think I will declare this the best chicken on the bone I have ever eaten. The "Chicken in the Rough" dinner is outstanding. It had a great flavor. I had the Traditional Dinner. It was a half chicken with fries & coleslaw & a dinner roll. I loved it all but didn't try the slaw I'm not a fan of that stuff. She had Chicken Tenders & Waffles with Honey & Pecan syrup on the side. I tried a bite of tenders it was very good but didn't have the same coating as mine so not AS good. I didn't try the Waffles but she said they were good. I would definitely get that Traditional Dinner again. I unfortunately didn't think to take a picture of our meals. Lots of food for both of us. Only downside I'd say is Pepsi products. There is a full bar though, but it was lunch so we resisted. The place says established 1936 it definitely had an old timey feel. I would guess 50's or 60's style but I wasn't around then so I'm just guessing what they were like. As always for Brian if he's still reading mine.... The napkin were two decent dinner napkins wrapped around our silverware, then a stack of cheapo diner napkins like you would have in a chrome dispenser on the table of a greasy spoon diner. I definitely was glad there was a lot of them, they knew I would need them. Don't hesitate to stop in I would recommend it for sure.

So I have to say that the Bloody Mary's are pretty darn good. Our Aunt actually said those are so good and told the waitress "another round" even though we really didn't need it. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed our time. I've actually been here a few times since our cottage is up in Lexington. So when you get off the freeway take a right instead of a left to go to Lexington and grab some tasty grub.
