I should have known what I was in for when I dealt with an incompetent front desk Sandy. She had never heard of my major credit cards so she couldn't accept them(they only accept ones they've heard of so I'm guessing only local banks or wells fargo). My credit card is a Mastercard through bank of Missouri, not a prepaid not a debit. As I'm standing there to check in a homeless lady on a bike came in. We go to the back to go out room and a gray pickup had a lady giving head in the back I wish I was joking my 15 yr old pointed it out. We get into the building and kids are in the hallways playing. Go to the room and gnats are flying, floor is wet, phone is unhooked, there are cockroaches crawling, and the most disgusting thing I've ever seen, boogers all over the walls. I literally started gagging when the kids pointed them out!! We go to front desk and I'm like yeah I know you're used to people complaining but can we cancel this reservation to go somewhere else and she wad just like no one ever complains, I don't know anything about the rooms, that I have to call Wyndham if i want any help, so I asked her to please put a note on my reservation and she just goes, I can say you left, like uh this is the least helpful front desk. This is exactly why I stay at hilton but this hotel has a sweet spot for me as I really liked the manager and customer service goes a long way for me, but I can't, this was too much. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! This hotel is a complete dump! It's very run down and needs years worth of cleaning and maintenance. They have a housekeeping staff, yet the rooms are still dreadful and gross. When I opened the room door, I was instantly shocked and realized this was a BIG mistake. Our room reeked of wet dog and cigarettes. The odor was so prominent and intense that no amount of air freshener was able to mask that pungent nasty scent. This disgusting scent remained throughout our entire stay here. I notified 2 cleaning staff and neither of them were even a bit surprised. One handed me a basically empty can of air freshener that quickly finished. I asked another staff member for an air freshener and she didn't have one and said to go to the front desk. Surprise, surprise the front desk was also out of air freshener so we were stuck with this disgusting smell. This hotel is also situated in an extremely ghetto area. Homeless and questionable people roam the premises 24/7. We regularly kept checking our car to verify if it was broken into yet. I always took all of my valuables with me whenever I left the room because I did not trust this place. The people inhabiting the neighboring rooms also looked sketchy and questionable themselves. Almost always did the parking lot reek of marijuana. Carpets in the room and throughout the building are outdated, dirty, and have black stains on them. The furniture in the room was also stained and filthy and the bathroom sink was atrocious. There was a lot of trash outside the entrance of the building, absolutely nothing in the room looked aesthetically pleasing, and the entire room looked abysmal and had an unsanitary and filthy feel to it. When I pulled open the bath curtain to take a shower, I was greeted by a lovely spider. How fun!!!! One of the most sickening parts about staying here were the nasty white stains on the red sheets below the mattress. (Pictures below) Absolutely gross!!!!!! Definitely an off-putting sight seeing white drips/stains on a bed you're supposed to sleep on. It makes you doubt the competence of the housekeeping staff and highly question the cleaning practices of this hotel. Given the conditions, I'm not sure if they even do the bare minimum when it comes to cleaning. If I can still see dirt and stains in the room, it is not fully clean and should NOT be rented out. How is that such a wild concept? I laid down my own blankets on the bed and pillows and never walked barefoot on the carpet as I couldn't even tell what was actually cleaned or washed in this room. Yes, it was that bad! As expected, I barely got any sleep in this place and I repeatedly kept getting woken up by noise and the insufferable cigarette and dog odor that inhabited the entire room. Just by seeing the condition of the room alone, I didn't even dare visit the pool. The staff are also aloof and apathetic. I voiced my complaints to four different employees and none of them were even a tiny bit shocked or apologetic about what I was experiencing. I'm pretty sure they are used to repeatedly hearing the same complaints and are already immune to anything negative you say. I'm genuinely surprised that this place hasn't been shut down by a health inspector yet. It's both scary and laughable to think that people are paying good money to stay in these garbage rooms, when they should instead be getting compensated for surviving a night here. This is by far the dirtiest and worst place I've ever stayed at. I didn't think any other place would beat my Motel 6 experience but this hotel managed to do it. Whoever owns or runs this establishment should be truly ashamed of themselves. Unfortunately, we rented out 2 nights in advance, but the room was so awful that we ended up leaving a day early and lost the money for one entire night. We were quickly reminded by the rude lady at the front desk that there are no refunds. We were fine with that and just wanted to get out of this dump as soon as possible! That's what this place does to you. Makes you run for the hills. Worst $300 ever spent!!!! Sleeping in your car or anywhere else is a wayyyyy better upgrade than staying at this dump. read more

Large holes in the screen for the sliding door, stains all over the carpet with thread bare areas. The drapes were filthy and there were black marks on the ceiling. The room had so many flies in it we had to go purchase Raid and still couldn't get rid of all of them. The freezer had a bottle of soda in it that was left by a prior occupant. There was a bunch of onion, red and green bell pepper strips in the planter next to the parking spot outside the room that was there when we checked in and still there when we left. The room is out dated. No usb ports to charge your phone. No gym. If you just want to spend the night and you are passing by this could work. Clean bathe and the esenciales. A big no, no is the deposit they ask for smoking and pets $150 they said will be return in 3 days. I wish I knew this before. Some hotels keep your credit card open for that length of time in case they have to cover some damage by some careless people. But keep $150 for 3+ days is unacceptable for me. Next time that would be my first question before booking. Other than that a decent passing by motel. Paid $117 with AAA and hotels.com discount. read more

I'm always on the road and need to pop into a convenient hotel or motel. I've stayed at a couple of different Days Inn's and this one by far is my favorite! First of all, fantastic customer service. From the moment you arrive, during and at departure. If I could name another first, it's the cleanliness! The room was fantastic - super spacious room and bathroom! The shower was a treat, as it's modern and large. Packed with toiletries. There were nice touches that made you feel at home and had a delightful aroma. Even when I woke up (I slept in considering how cozy the bed was) I could smell the freshness. Given the time of year, the room was set perfect toasty throughout the day and evening when it got very chilly. It's a bonus to have a coffee maker in the room but you can also swing by the lobby and grab a fresh cup. Conveniently located right off the highway and nearby plenty of stores and restaurants. Do you swim? Perfect cause there's a swimming pool as well! I'm looking forward to staying here again soon. read more

This place gets a big 'no' from me. When you open the door to the room the first thing that hits you is smell of old smoke and the yellowed (tobacco stained) popcorn ceilings. Then the smell of mildew hits and after a while the scent of gas station bathroom... yes, old urin. When I took off my shoes my feet felt like they were sticking to the carpet and the walls, floor and furniture were showing a great deal of wear and tear and in places there were broken/missing tiles. So, Not only are rooms in need of a good cleaning but also a fresh coat of paint and some repairs. The worse part was what I saw when the plastic moved after taking a shower... yeah found out were the mildew smell was coming from. This place is totally NOT value for money! read more

Stayed here for a convention that was in town. As soon as I opened the door I knew I had made a mistake. The whole room smelled like bug spray and there were dead roaches everywhere. When we asked for another room they said they were all like that. We were afraid to leave our bags out or unpack because of all the roaches. Our key card keep demagnetizing itself and the front office wasn't too helpful. Lastly, they charged my friend $10 for a washcloth that wasn't damaged at all. It was a very ,nice room with a view of the pool,clean towels and sheets,coffee etc. The biggest problem is I only needed a few hours of sleep but there was this noise,like ticking that was soo annoying, but I was so tired I left the tv on to drown out the noise.Also I was upset that they charge your deposite not hold it.plus the return takes up to 7 days . I give it four stars though it's definitely a two star hotel. Totally decent facility. Incredibly efficient desk staff handled us and we were a very large conference group checking in -- six in my party alone and around 50 people checking in within an hour. Rooms are huge. It's all clean and everything works. Pillows could be fluffier but that's my only beef. As Days Inns go, this one is in the upper half. Very run down motel with worst internet ever. The connection died every few minutes, so no TV or Netflix, nothing on the computers we brought. No video games. The TV had no antenna and it barely worked, some channels but everything was blurry. The beds were comfortable, though. Toilet was clogged when we got there; someone fixed it quickly. The staff put a party of people right next to us - with an adjoining door. They had a loud party with a heavy bass boom box. 2:30am, a dozen people at least. I tried calling the front desk but the "0" button was broken! I called from my cell and about 3:15 someone came to break up the party. However the party didn't end, just a few people for a little while then it ramped up again and I called again by 4am. Jeesh. I will never stay there again. read more

Stayed here on a recommendation from our business owner friend who owns "Bookies bar and grill" we mistook this one for another days inn but decided since we traveled so far to visit friends and family we'd give it a shot. ROACH MOTEL. Upon going into the hotel room everything is dirty old and outdated it smells like pure cigarettes there's no elevator so you have to bring your bags up the stairs. Parking is first come first serve so you might have to drag your luggage all the way to the opposite side of the compound. I asked for a late check out considering we had events to go to and we had checked in late 4pm) due to traffic... The woman at the front was nice and they did have ESPN to watch the beginning of the UFC fights which was a plus however in the morning we had woken up at about 11:00 and the maid comes and knocks on our door and opens the door at 11:15 when I clearly asked for a late check out at noon....I COULD HAVE BEEN CHANGING OR WHAT EVER ELSE. And then Alma the front desk/manager/goddess of all power tripping at hotels... Comes in the room while we could have been changing or naked and says if we don't leave in 5 minutes she's going to keep our $100 deposit.... So not only did I not get a chance to put my makeup on prior to going to this event that we have for sponsored athletic event she wasted my 15 minutes of time when I could have been done and checked out.. you need to have common courtesy and respect for people that are paying the same amount for a service and have good communication with you. You might be used to dealing with a certain type of demographic here but when people come from La for a sponsored athletic event we expect you to treat us as if anywhere else we've gone. for the $167 they charge me I would have way rather spent a couple more dollars and went to the DoubleTree I will never refer this place do not go here at all costs!!! This hotel photos provide false hopes! The front desk lady was super friendly very nice and respectful! However the hotel has a smell! The key did not unlock the 2nd floor door entrance we had to walk back down stairs for entry. There was a gentleman whom looks like he likes there who scared the kids( he was being helpful with trying to assist us upon entry however it was a scary feeling) then later as we were getting ice asked me and my 3 kids did we each have a dollar to help him get a soda out the vending machine. Let's not speak of the "breakfast" wanted to grab a quick bite as we were there for a track meet the cereal was stale! I really think this place needs some serious cleaning and renovation ASAP! Especially to charge $150 for incidental when the room only cost $124 the stay! Not very happy at all! Out of date, dirty, and smells old. The hotel doesn't even have hair conditioner for guest. Behind the beds and night stand is some kind of powder substance and also found an empty alcohol bottle back there. Seems like cleaning is not a top priority here. Been here a couple of times. Each time the staff has been very rude, awful, and nasty to me. They talk about the people that stay here and gossip. They're always trying to get money out of your $200 deposit because they need money. Their rooms are filthy and roach infested. I gave these people no problem but they seemed to keep picking at me. I told the lady Krystal that I didn't want to argue about the $40 she was taking from my deposit. I think that made her even more mad because she then threatened to call the police on me. I said ok well call them because I'm not doing anything wrong I said I don't want to argue. She was yelling and irate. She then told me not to come back. I was treated terrible. read more

The wife and I had a last minute stay over. It's late and were tired. We just needed a warm room, a hot shower and a comfortable bed. We got all three. Sweet. The lady at the desk was very nice and helpful. Went super smooth and we were in the room in no time. The room was large, not super up to date but it was clean. It had all the regular things hotel rooms have. So after a decent night's sleep we headed to the free breakfast in a room behind the office. I had a horrible experience when I stayed in the hotel this weekend. The carpets need to be cleaned or replaced in the walkways to the rooms and in the rooms and they don't have irons and ironing boards in the rooms. Guests in the room next to mine started playing loud music at 1:30am. I tried to call front desk stay for assistance three times and no one answered the telephone. When I left my room at 5am to report the situation. The guy at the front desk by the name of Josh acted like the situation wasn't a big deal. I told him that I didn't feel safe going back to the room. He told me that he would call security to go and investigate the situation. He told me that I couldn't stay in the lobby, because it didn't open until 6am. I stood outside with my bags. I do not recommend being a guest in this hotel!! Stayed here one night to our misfortune. It smelled faintly of smoke, and there was piles of dirt inside the room next to the sliding glass door. NO Screen (this becomes important later). Left after dropping off our stuff, went to dinner & a movie. Came back to HOT air blowing out of the A/C. Stuffy as all get out inside the room, had to open both the door & sliding glass door just to be able to stand it. I went to the front desk where a VERY young lady was there. No, no fans to use to get some air circulation. What? You don't have a screen on the glass door? Had to call someone to check that out as I'm a big liar I guess. No, can't switch our room because we'd been in the room more than three hours. NOPE, we left our stuff directly after checking in and just got back. Nope, also couldn't move us as there was no housekeepers to "Check" our room. Only advice? To put the lock on the door then open it up for air flow--that was only about an inch of air. Otherwise, the young girl didn't give a rip about service or any help whatsoever. Truly sad state when they just use a warm body behind the desk. And I was MISERABLE all night long in the hot, stifling room--and this was in March!! Finally fell asleep at 4 a.m., then at 8 a.m. the man next door was bellowing at someone in his room to "Get the f%$k out now!" It was really fun. Check out is at 11 a.m., but we were packed up & in our car at 10:30 a.m. Watched two housekeepers walk up to our room & knock. Husband asked what they needed and they said they needed to "CHECK the room". For what? We're married 30 years, both in our fifties and the furthest thing from room thrashers you can find. I was so insulted. We paid $130 for this gross & uncomfortable room & then they come to check when we still had 30 minutes left on the room we PAID for. NEVER, EVER again!! We get away maybe once a year due to our special needs son who can't be left alone & it's not easy to leave him--this was a fun thrifting trip for us--there are a TON of thrift stores down McHenry. But for the love of all that's holy, DO NOT stay here!! read more

This is a great place... for a nuclear strike. Actually, it looks like it already took a direct hit from a tactical nuke. It looks a great place for a murder. The whole property appears to be a set from a Mad Max movie. Like Modesto itself, the place is dirty, defeated, decrepit and beaten down. The property is bleak and dystopian. Questionable people meander the property at all hours. I was concerned for the security of my car, and continually checked on it after dark. I was told regular security starts at 7 pm, but I never saw anyone, just sketchy-looking vagrants that looked like Walking Dead meth heads. I stayed one night from July 29 to July 30, 2021. A family member was recovering from surgery at the nearby hospital and I needed to be close. The front desk person was rude and condescending upon check-in, telling me the hotel needed to charge my card $150 for incidentals. First off, there are NO incidentals offered by this hotel, except probably roaches, rats, bedbugs and lice, which I seemed to have dodged. When I questioned the policy, in a huff I was told I should have read the fine print at Booking.com, where I made the reservation. I was not going to attempt the pool fearing I could get a disease and based upon how terrible the staff and property appeared, I was not going to consume any free breakfast offered, because I would have gotten food poisoning. If you have to stay at any hotel in Modesto, stay at the Double Tree downtown and just spend the money for the piece-of-mind, security and the fact it's walking distance to downtown restaurants and amenities (not to say that Modesto is known for it's restaurants and amenities). That's what I should have done. Godforbid I ever have to stay in Modesto again, I will take my own advice. read more

This was definetly not the Four Seasons, but it was clean, the rooms were spacious, the bed comfortable, it was quiet, and the breakfast was such that we did not have to go out and get breakfast at a restaurant. I have never had that much being held at a hotel. Once we got to our room, it smelled of pee. Bad. The air didn't work well so we had to leave for a bit to get the smell out. There were holes in all of the blankets. Cigarette burns. Hair all over the bathroom sink. Blood stained on the wall by the mirror. NASTY!!! The next morning, we went to leave and walked out of our room and what looked like permanent residents of the hotel were outside smoking weed.. I don't mind the weed, but being there alone with my daughter, they were giving nasty looks. Made both of us feel very uncomfortable. Definitely will not stay here again. Beware! Homeless everywhere. Not a good part of town. And for the price-- not worth it! This place is a decent hotel but the reason why I am giving it a 1 star rating is because they messed my reservation up and they reserved a room for me a week in advance and charged me for it as well. Of course I say Im looking for a room for one night, he says oh well I dont have any king rooms and after some silence......he says "we are sold out and nothing is available." The funny thing is I was half way through making my reservation online and this guy says they are sold out. I made the reservation online and arrived saturday around 1ish. I know it was too early for check in anyways but thought I would go and see that my room would be available for check-in at 3pm. A lovely young lady was there with a smile and greeted us upon entering the lobby, there was also the guy whom I had spoke to the night before. He never once looked up to greet us or look at me when he was speaking to me. This individual is disrespectful, has no sense of what customer service is, bad phone etiquette, he should be re-trained properly or fired. Upon entering the room.....at first it looked just like it does on the website then you continue walking in the room and start noticing stains and tears on the chairs, the carpet was filthy dirty so it wasnt properly vacuumed, the bathroom floor was sticky so that was also not cleaned. The sheets had stains and to top it off, the next morning I was bitten all over, not sure if it was bed bugs or fleas because they allow dogs in this hotel. Yes I agree the hotel is what it is but no one wants to get attacked by bugs, arrive to half way cleaned room, or be greeted by an employee (matt) who has no respect for people or proper work etiquette.
