All that change in just 3 months is insane, granted I followed his advice to a T and whenever I wasn't training with him, I would be staying active by biking, hiking, burning as many calories as I could on my own time. He also gave me great dieting tips to really maximize my gains by recommending an increase in protein and more carbs on workout days. (I only added one star because Yelp forced me to in order to post.) This morning was my first 10K ever. My running coach suggested this run as a practice for my half marathon I'm doing in October. He boasted about the "collective energy" of a 10K run. The only energy I felt was negativity and disappointment. To say the race was unorganized is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Before the run, the entire group had NO idea where we were to go. There was no race signage or mile markers anywhere (not even a marked Start/Finish line). Bertha, the organizer, yelled to the crowd and told us what the course was to be and noted that it was "strenuous" (which was NOT stated in the course map). The race started 10 minutes late. They mismarked the 10K and we were actually shorted on our run. On the course map, the "uphill to the last Bowl loop" was completely eliminated, and therefore shortened our 10K so our times and mileage were completely inaccurate. On the map, where it is marked "narrow path" there was a very steep drop and should have been marked as "very dangerous terrain for knee blowouts." This little path was extremely unsafe even for advanced runners. And "flat dirt roads" should read "uneven dirt roads." They had the nerve to call it "Caribbean Sounds." The t-shirt promotes "Run to the tunes of Island Music, Reggae, Soca, Calypso, and Parang. There was no music anywhere! I was very grateful to have brought my iPod. There was only one water station for the 10K runners and NO water station for the 5K runners. We ran through a park and there were a couple of points where I actually did not know where I was going. Last but not least, I was very proud to be able to order a "small" t-shirt. There were no "smalls" at all and I had to take a "medium" which I will never wear because it does not fit. It is a generic t-shirt, without a date, and says 5K/10K/10 miler. There was NO 10 mile run. I heard many people talking about refunds. Please do not EVER run the Caribbean Sounds race and tell your friends. I can only hope that all the money they saved by not giving the runners support is actually used to fund sarcoidosis research as they advertise.

I enjoy the functional high-intensity interval training (hiit) classes at this gym! These circuit…read moretraining workouts begin with an active warmup. Next, you select your starting station and rotate from circuit to circuit to complete exercises targeting different muscle groups. Everyone rotates to each station 2-3 times during the one-hour workout. I've taken both Hannah and Eric's functional hiit classes. Both classes provided me a wonderful endurance and strength training workout with enough variety and challenge to keep me engaged. I preferred Eric's class since he provided more supportive individual coaching to everyone in the class, ensuring we were lifting, bending, or rowing correctly to avoid injury. The workouts change from class to class so that no two classes are the same. You can expect your workouts to consist of a mix of weightlifting, squats, rowing, biking, planks, step ups, and work with the TRX ropes. You may also run on the treadmill or engage in medicine ball squat throws. The TRX ropes can get a little damp in between intervals if someone from the previous rotation has sweaty palms. Class participants are supposed to wipe down the equipment at the end of class, but that doesn't always happen. If you love a challenging workout and friendly competition, then this might be the workout for you.
