I hope that you read this review and save yourself some time. I went through no fewer than 10 companies to get an estimate. The industry seems quite unreliable. I got Steve's number from my realtor who said that he was probably going to use Steve. My realtor had all kinds of great contacts when I remodeled my house before I moved in 10 years ago. I met with Steve first. I then reached out to the other companies after meeting with Steve to be exhaustive and because it got kind of silly with how difficult these companies were to even reach. I actually met with about 6 of the 10 because some of them never even returned my call (several with favorable reviews on Yelp). The companies who did show up, gave estimates all over the board and several didn't follow up with me after I expressed sincere interest in hiring them. It was weird. Recommendations from neighbors, co-workers, Yelp. They were all flakes. I was impressed at how much control Steve directly exercised over this project (Steve is the owner). I told my realtor to save the time, just use Steve, and recommend him to all his clients. You should hire him too.

All in all, it took about 4 months to complete the project from design, permits, and start to finish, and this seems on par with other pool building companies in our communities. Their crew worked in the dead heat of our Arizona summer heat waves and although we offered coolers for them, they were self prepared. I am happy to report that after enjoying our pool for a full year, no issues to be reported of the pool. Kangaroo pools have remained in contact, and fixed any issues (very minor) that cropped up. Vince, Vanessa, German and their teams coordinated well and were responsive in their texts throughout the build. The key to working well with them is making sure you're ontop of your own communication, articulation, and clarity. If you consider yourself a good communicator, then working with Kangaroo pools will be a breeze and you can benefit from fair pricing out of the 5 other pool services we contacted and compared with during the time. I was very particular about the drainage and irrigation out of the yard, and they listened to my feedback, and did not hesitate to dig back up the corrogated piping and his crew was accommodating and did it the way I wanted. We are very happy we hired Kangaroo Pools to build our pool! We chose to have them maintain our pool with their pool service and the email updates we get about what they did each week is very helpful.

We have been VERY happy with everything…read more First contact - I have a good friend who owns a pool building business but was in the process of moving to another state. I contacted my friend to ask him to build the pool but due to his circumstances he couldn't do it in the time frame we wanted (signed contract late June, finish before end of summer) because he wouldn't be in town for the summer. I asked who I should talk to and he gave me James' contact info and said he's the best builder in the valley. The entire process with Blue Dot was great. We went through the design and ordering process in June. Selected colors and materials. We changed many things along the way, but James and the others at Blue Dot always took care of us. After a lot of changes we signed the final plan in late June. They started the build process quickly - so soon that I'm sure they had crews scheduled even before we finalized the plan. Kept us informed when crews were coming (and due to our rush they were early most of the time). The entire build process was great!!! I especially appreciated the fact that James was very direct in pointing out where I could do some of the smaller jobs myself and save money (like safety locks on the doors and fence, etc.). He was more than happy to keep me involved in the build. Blue Dot finished the pool just like we wanted and the kids were swimming end of August. Then, just when you'd expect a builder to disappear and move onto the next job ... things got better. James came over the day the pool finished filling and spent 2 1/2 hours giving me a private pool school training. He went over the equipment, showed me how to test the water, gave details about why I needed to do all the things he was teaching me. This is the first pool we've had and I learned so much that neighbors and family contact me to ask pool questions. Of course I didn't remember everything .... but James and I emailed back and forth daily for the first 40 days (at his request) for me to send him the numbers and James to coach me on what to do to keep the water clean and clear. Then, a year later we started noticing cracks in the deck. One email to James and his crew was there a few days later to patch and fix the deck. Then, two years later (a few days ago) I thought I had some equipment problems that I'd need to pay James to come fix. I took a video of what I was seeing in my equipment and emailed it to Blue Dot. James called me on Saturday mornning and explained what I was doing wrong (I'm sure he told me about it in my private pool school and I forgot) but he was the consumate teacher and described how to fix it and why it needed to be set a specific way. So we had the luxury of time and hosted at least 10 pool companies to our home to solicit pool designs, and bids. Our very last bid was SATURN POOLS owned by Nathan Green. Rarely do you expect a major construction project to complete without some issues or problems. In this build, the rarity occurred. From start to finish the build process was flawless, and the end result was a custom pool designed by Nathan Green based on a concept my wife related to him that he conceptualized for us. Our pool has literally taken our breath away and our custom designed water feature has become the envy of several neighbors (custom designed by Nathan Green). Quality, craftmanship, and materials were all top quality right down to the standard tile selections we opted for (would have been upgrades with any other company). So here are my takeaways from Saturn Pools and Nathan Green: 1. Saturn pools is what I would refer to as a low volume "boutique" pool company. The focus is not to build 1000 pools in a year, rather my observation is more that Saturn wants to build XX number of high quality pools. There was no high pressure process. Nathan presented his idea, we assessed it, and ultimately went with it. 2. Saturn pools does not weigh the pricing down with pool salesman fees, or additional fees for contractors to pad the bottom line etc. From start to finish you deal with one man, Nathan Green, the owner. He designs the pool, is the project manager for the build, and shows up on the job site regularly to check on the work being performed. It was not out of the ordinary to see him actually out there with a shovel himself. Hands on owner-I liked that. 3. Nathan was approachable, and always either a text message, email, or phone call away. When I came up with looney ideas that I thought would be great add-ons, he politely told me the pros and cons to my idea, and the reasoning behind his thoughts. He also would incorporate an idea if he thought it was beneficial for me. So he helped me not make mistakes he knew I would regret later during my pool ownership. 4. Saturn Pools/Nathan Green also, in my observation, cherry picked the contractors he used. I actually spoke at length to the excavator who was not only courteous, but wanted me aware and informed as to what he was doing-they hit granite so it was a hard dig. I had no idea what it was, but he took me outside and clearly I could see what he was talking about. The tile setter was focused, and the decking crew didn't mess around-they got it done, and were very good in their quality. So my summation on that is that you aren't getting a 1000 pool per year company grab anyone you can to be a sub-contractor. Rather, with Nathan you're getting his preferred contracting crews, crews he has established reciprocal business relationships with that he trusts. 5. Professionalism and customer treatment-outstanding. Nathan never pressured me for money up front etc. Rather there were pay points associated with each phase of the build. He or his office would reach out to me and let me know the amount of the payment needed. Easy Peezy! So in summary, if I moved and had to build another pool, the only company I would reach out to would be Saturn Pools and Nathan Green and forgo alternate pool companies. I highly recommend Saturn Pools as a builder, and again, the process was flawless from start to finish. As I said before, the quality and materials I gained by using Saturn Pools easily would have cost me $20,000 more due to commissions and added fees the larger cookie cutter companies upcharge for. So not only did I get a value (still wasn't cheap) but I got more for my money. Keep in mind this is a small local company so it takes a little more time to build-not much more, but you'll be happy if you opt for Saturn as your pool builder.
