If I could give Alex 100 stars I would. I called Leak Hunters after struggling and failing to get service from another company. He came to my door about half an hour after I told him my story mostly out of indignant frustration. He tested my pool for leaks on the spot and charged me a third less than the other company for it. I had to schedule my appointment about a month and a half to 2 months in advance. Alex was polite and did mention a $300 fee for the leak inspection on the phone. When he came over he turned on the water for the floatation device which was off after previous work had been done. Thus the culprit for lack of water and me having to fill with a hose was found. Apparently not the water loss I had feared. He turned on/off the pop up system. He gave me a few tips about what to buy for cleaning the pool and that was about it. I plead ignorance on the floatation water valve. I am not a pool equipment/plumbing expert by any means, although I am pretty capable of keeping it clean and chemically balanced. He said there was nothing else to check for as far as leaks which surprised me and charged the full $300. It seemed like a pricey maybe 10 minute visit max, to me, hence my 3.5 stars if it were available, but I wasn't going to haggle. A pricey bit of ignorance on my part, lesson learned. You can use your own judgment on the value. I get he is a professional and needs to be paid for his work, being a small business owner myself, but I personally found it a bit much for the amount of return and time it took to get him out here. These guys are fantastic, I sent out a request for quote from a couple places. Alex responded quickly and was very fair on pricing and because he had a cancellation they came out same day. They testing my system and found a couple leaks that are simple fixes. Instead of trying to talk over my head he should me a place that needs a cap and another that needs to be retaped. I discovered a very minuscule leak in our outside main line, somewhere between the water meter and the side of our house, but needed it located before ripping up the entire 30+ foot span. I reached out to Alex after finding him on Yelp and he was able to get on the job within about an hour or so of my initial call, which was fantastic. Because of the small magnitude of the leak, it was difficult to isolate but Alex kept at it, probably for a good two hours, eventually pinning it down near the side of our house and thankfully away from our recently redone front yard (which I really didn't want to rip up unless absolutely necessary). After getting the location from Alex, we had a plumber come out the next day to dig it up and search for the leak, testing the mettle of Alex's locating job. It turned out that Alex was incredibly accurate, and his mark was quite literally right on top of the leak. We saved an enormous amount of trouble knowing where to dig from the get go, and had it fixed in much less time than it would have taken to re-pipe the entire main from the meter. It should go without saying that not knowing where the leak was, I would have been saddled with murderous hourly rates for the plumbers to ferret it out (or have them sub-contract another leak detection service with a huge premium), or been forced to simply dig up and replace the entire main line. The cost of doing a pin-point repair at the source of the leak was less than half the cost a new main line, so Alex's locating service paid for itself almost 10x over in saving me that difference. I also have to add, the plumber was extremely impressed with the accuracy of the leak location Alex did, especially given the small magnitude of the leak, enough that he happily took down the name of the company for future reference. Water leaks are never fun, and while better outside than inside, they're still an expensive endeavor that I hope not to experience again. That said, if there is a next time, I will certainly call Alex again and I highly recommend him and his service. He's a one man shop, very responsive, punctual and skilled at his craft. I called Leak Hunters because of their stellar reviews on Yelp. Alex, his brother and his son came to find a leak in our swimming pool. The pool contractor had tried to find the leak for several weeks and was unable to do so. First off they were very polite and knowledgeable about their business. They used several pieces of equipment to find the leak. They used pressure testing and a listening device among other methods. They were very thorough. They found the leak in a very short amount of time, maybe 30 minutes or so. It might've been less time. They were very understanding, since we were late to our own appointment by 20 minutes. Alex had a very good attitude. He is very easy to talk to and answered all of our questions and explained details In depth. Overall it was a great experience and I give them an A+ for attitude, professionalism and integrity.
