Came back again this year for another Pink Floyd massage and skipped the facial. I wanted to book with Christina as that is who I had last year and she was amazing. I ended up going with first available and got Brittany. I want to preface this and say Brittany was great, the service itself was great. However, the whole point of a 2-hour Pink Floyd massage experience is to TRULY experience it. I was SO looking forward to completely tuning out as I have had a very stressful and exhausting month. And unfortunately that did not happen. I would start to slip away into a beautiful, comatose state and then be brought back to reality because Brittany turned down the music a smidge, or she would ask if I wanted another sip of my champagne, or if a certain area hurt to touch, or if the pressure was too much, or if I needed another blanket because I was too cold. I get it, I truly do. And I appreciate her for trying to ensure that I had the best experience. But I wanted to float mindlessly in a state of bliss for two hours. Forget who I was and just let my brain stfu and take a small break. Instead I think I got maybe 20-30 uninterrupted minutes max. After about the second or third interruption, I stopped trying to float away and instead let my mind do what it does best, keep running endlessly. I didnt get quite the comfortably numb experience I wanted, but at least I was able to think about how I could effectively restructure my business in Q1 of 2025. Again, nothing against Brittany herself. It just wasn't a match. read more

I just tried the newest treatment at Dcompress, Ashiatsu. What an incredible experience! This is a deep tissue massage performed by D, the owner of the studio, using her feet instead of her hands. It is an incredibly effective technique that produces an incredible feeling that covers a wider surface area of the body at one time providing you with a truly relaxing deep tissue massage. The room is set up to be incredibly comfortable with a soft cushioned table. You are able to pick the music of your choice and then the magic happens. I love this place. It's truly an oasis! I started coming a few months prior to Covid & was ecstatic when they re-opened. I love the ambiance that makes you feel special when you walk in. Everyone is wam & welcoming. They've done an amazing job operating in the midst of Covid. They make you feel totally safe! They do a pre-appointment health screening, take your temperature, added air filters in the rooms, and the therapist wears a mask. They added a little sink when you walk in where you can wash your hands. Everything is clean and well organized. They allow a lot of time between clients to keep distance and so you can go over what's going on with you so they can best help you. I never feel rushed. Angela is amazing! She is super strong! Just a quick note on how my monthly visits to Dcompress Downtown have changed my life. Many decades ago, as a teen, I held a job that abused my back. It didn't bother me until I got older, but then it *really* bothered me. Lifting something heavy (or sneezing) would leave me in agony for a week. This morning, the treatments I've received at the hands of D and Kala allowed me to rotate the tires on my Jeep, a feat that would have been literally impossible before I became a client (dare I say friend?) of the delightful people at Dcompress Downtown. Before I went into my massage, I had a form to fill out and was given a card to select what music I would prefer to listen to. I loved having the choice of rock, new age, Pink Floyd, etc., but I went for the classic spa music. After all the paperwork was squared away, I was led into my room and we went over any concerns I had and specific parts of my body I needed worked on. She really took the time to listen. All in all, it was a great massage. My favorite part was her neck and head work at the end. I wish I could have 90 minutes of just that! I used Yelp to find a massage near to my hotel downtown San Diego. After reading some great reviews of Dcompress, I called them and made a same day appointment with Sabrina for a 90 minute massage that evening. When I got there, I was greeted warmly by Sabrina and everything about my experience couldn't have gone better than my expectations. She took great care to understand my needs and what exactly I was looking for based on my current health situation. She asked a lot of great questions about focus areas, pressure, etc. She escorted me to a nice room and asked what music I'd like to listen to. Well, typically in the Midwest, I'm accustomed to the rote "Spa tracks" playing over and over again, so hadn't even given any thought to music. She said she had Spotify that we could put on, so I thought, "well, Tom Petty just passed away, so that might be perfect". So we put the "This is Tom Petty" playlist on and away we went. Sabrina gave me a fantastic massage, helping to ease the pain of some areas I've had trouble with lately and definitely get exacerbated by air travel. The music was nostalgic, but perfect for the mood of the day, (was the day after the Las Vegas shooting).
