It is difficult to understand the menu, they don't do this, don't have that, won't do this etc. The vegetable fried rice with tofu is so gross and mushy. The vegetables are soggy, no flavor at all extremely bland. The tofu silky soft with no flavor. I definitely will not be ordering from here again. Great service and food. We went for lunch and had the Szechuan chicken and garlic chicken. We both had hot sour soup and it came with an egg roll and rice. There was a tiny shrimp in the soup that was hard and did not taste good but the soup itself was very good. The egg roll was crispy and tasted good. Both dishes were very flavorful and our leftovers gave us each a 2nd small meal. The only complaint is it was very pricey $19 + tip. I've been here for dinner and the crab rangoons are excellent (not sweet) but they are over $2 a piece. If it was a bit more affordable and didn't have the shrimp on the soup, I would have rated it a 5 star. read more

Friendly and attentive staff. Inside was roomy and nicely decorated. Lunch was a little pricey but seems like everything is, anymore. $16.29 for lunch size portion of Mongolian Beef with rice, mini egg roll, and egg drop soup. I also ordered fried pot stickers. Everything was just ok. Soup didn't have a lot of flavor, egg roll was fine, rice had peas and carrots, I don't like them but forgot to ask for steamed rice so I just picked them out. I think this is my new favorite dine-in Chinese spot. I'm working nearby and had a client tell me how this place was her favorite so i decided to try it. It's very quaint. The people are extremely friendly. The waitress was so kind and very professional. Our food came out quickly and was hot and seemed very fresh! My date even commented how his hot braised chicken was nice and crispy. And i don't know about you but I personally feel kind of gross after eating Chinese but not after this place! It was a weeknight after 7:00 and wasn't very busy but we weren't bothered by that. The prices are also reasonable for an upscale Chinese restaurant. Wins all around! read more

This is the best Chinese food I've ever had. I don't even think China has this good of Chinese food. It's easily the best in the world. I grew up in stl and this was our go to take out. MUST TRIES: imperial chicken!!!! Chicken lo mein, steamed potstickers, beef and broccoli. It's just all so delicious and flavorful. I miss yen Ching so much. I crave Chinese all the time and order a from a different place in Nashville at least once a month and have never found anything here that's even close to comparing. Great food! Inside is a bit dated but this restaurant has been around forever and it's our go-to delivery option. We tried just about everything- yen Ching beef was by far our favorite. I've loved Yen Ching for a long time. I always get the Crab Rangoon, fried rice, and the hot braised shrimp. In the past, tea was always served, now it seems as if I had to request it. Also, the service was timely. The most alarming thing is that their prices have dramatically increased. If you order an appetizer, two entrees and a side dish and you're at $100. The china plates and silverware have seen better days. The inside has been "refreshed" and the ambiance is low key. I wish they would stop putting the carrots and peas in the fried rice but oh well. But it's a sentimental fav of mine so I'll always visit when I'm in town. read more

First time here. Never saw it when passing by all these years. Apparently has won several awards. Ran in and menu was small but enough. I ordered the Happy Meal in brown garlic sauce. Loaded with big pieces of seafood, especially the shrimp. It was NOT shrimpy. Lol. Came with white rice which was just ok. My friend had the Sesame Chicken and liked it. Cute place. As others have stated, this restaurant has been around for over 40 years. And for good reason. Extremely clean, welcoming and kind atmosphere. Very unsuspecting from the street but nice inside. Food was awesome. Had the spicy crispy beef and the red pepper fried fish. Both very well done. A bit too sweet and not enough spice or heat but nonetheless, nicely done and great flavor. Both dishes I would get again. Each plate is more than enough for 2 people, or to take home for lunch the next day like me :) 2 dishes for 2 people is more than enough food. Another great date dinner. We are members of Teams of Our Lady, a couples prayer group, and the local group was conducting an annual retreat at the Drury Inn in Brentwood. When the group took its dinner break, my wonderful wife suggested that we get some sizzling rice soup and something else for dinner. GREAT suggestion! As we drove there we joked about eating between 5 & 5:30... definitely earlier than usual. As we pulled into the lot, we quickly recognized that others were thinking the same thing... by time we ordered the restaurant was 75% full. As I left I asked and the owner confirmed that this is typical for a weekend night. OK... now we know! Dinner... Sizzling rice soup... great as always... rice made into a stiff cake, brought to the table and dipped into the broth soup that has some veggies in it... the rice snaps crackles and pops in the bowl... and tastes great. Jinx... again My eyes saw Kung Pao Beef, which we hadn't ordered ever before, not anywhere. I didn't say anything, waiting for my wife to say what she wanted... and she said... Kung Pao Beef! And it was awesome... similar to beef pepper steak, with bamboo shoots and a similar but different sauce... and red chili peppers, which we did not eat, but which did add some slightly spicy flavor... but not so much that it warned the "spicy" not on the menu... and rightly so... very mild was the spiciness. Lifelong favorite Chinese restaurant! When I was a kid they had preset meals for X- number of people and we'd order those based on the number of people we had with us, now it's always Mongolian beef, garlic chicken and the spicy crispy beef! Plus pot stickers and crab Rangoon. Always awesome! If we dine in, the hot tea is a treat. It's old school white tablecloth Chinese dining at great prices and the owner and staff are terrific. We came for the lunch special and tried the Yen Ching, Beef, Chicken, and their sizzling rice soup. Overall a 3.5 star: Their Yen Ching beef was great, no complaints, 4 star. The Chicken was definitely not as good as their beef, and their sizzling rice soup was fine too. The fried rice that comes with the lunch special though was extremely bland and just had no taste. Definitely would have preferred white rice instead. Prices seem way higher if you don't come for lunch, so I'm not sure how good their dinner menu is. read more
