For the most part they all have their standard items, but I do feel like there's some randomization as well as each location has me finding things I didn't see previously. Always pleased with the selection. The service is consistently friendly, and they're always working hard to keep the lines moving. The value is in the fun products for sure, usually low priced, but of a good quality.

They also have clearance aisles positioned throughout the store which always makes it fun. If I had to choose which part of the store is better, I would say Homegoods. The lines are never super long, their dressing room is decently clean, and as a bonus it's located right next door to the infamous Costa Mesa Northgate market so it's a win win!

While some shelves have signs showing higher prices, many items are not individually labeled, which led me to assume they were still $1. I didn't realize until after I checked out and received my receipt that every single item I purchased was more than $1 (most were $1.25 or $1.50). That may not seem like much, but if you're shopping at a dollar store, you're likely on a tight budget (as I was). Clear pricing on shelves and/or individual items would really help prevent people from overshooting their budgets, especially those who don't shop here regularly. They also sell items priced at $5 or $7, but given the overall Dollar Tree-level quality, those items don't really seem worth the price. As most Dollar Tree locations, the store appears very chaotic and messy, and the cashiers appear overworked and underpaid. This particular location was noticeably more rundown than other locations I've visited. I'd give this place 2.5 stars if I could, just because it wasn't completely terrible. I was able to find most of the things I had written down on my shopping list. The checkout line moved at a pretty good pace, and they even opened up a second line when there were too many people in the first line.

We ended up finding a small anime/manga branded notebook as a future gift, with the single employee being helpful and very pleasant to talk to converse with. With 250 stores in the U.S., 108 in California (with 10 just within 10 miles of Long Beach), Miniso (a made up word, trying to evoke an idea of minimalism Japanese) is rapidly growing in the U.S. It's symbol is very similar to Uniqlo, it sells product similar to Muji, and tries to provide value like Daiso. The store used to be mostly black esthetic with some pop culture stuff. They always had the best t-shirts. They used to sell goth boots, spiked bracelets and necklaces, punk clothing and everything was dark and creepy. The vibes were spooky and fun. What happened to this store? It is now all anime junk, Hello Kitty and just crap. I feel like this store is turning into Claire's lol I walked in to this store and walked right back out. This is no longer the goth friendly store I remember. It's now rainbows and sunshine. Pass.
