We happened to be doing some shopping in the Paramus neighborhood and were in the need for a dinner spot. We were craving some sort of Asian cuisine, and I had had DD Thai bookmarked to try, so we headed to the restaurant. The small place was tucked away in a strip mall, just off the highway. We parked the car and managed to get into the restaurant without slipping on the massive amounts of black ice that had accumulated in the lot. The restaurant's decor was lacking in that the booths on the right side of the place had ripped upholstery and the seating on the left side was in better condition, but mismatched. Despite the furniture, the woman running the front of the house was very sweet, and the food was great! We started with the Curry Puff appetizer. The 3 large dumplings had been completely stuffed with a sweet chicken curry, while the fried, flaky exterior was a nice golden brown color and not at all greasy. My Pad See Ew with Chicken was very flavorful and perfectly cooked, though it could have used a tad more sauce. My companion felt the same about his Drunken Noodles, which he similarly scarfed up, though he would have preferred more spice. I have now tried several Thai restaurants in Bergen County and many of them have fallen short on delivering the flavorful impact I would expect from the cuisine. However, DD Thai was definitely one of the better ones in the area! read more

Just discovered this place recently. Really great place, and great lunch specials. A little pricey if you order off the dinner menu though or outside lunch hours. Pad Thai and pad se ew is reaaaally good. Watch out for spice level here. First time I ordered I got the drunken noodles and I couldn't even eat it it was so spicy. But we love this place. Clean, cozy hole in the wall Thai spot. Food is ok, slightly above average. Here is why -- Drunken noodles - Too much flavor going on. It was overly sweet and salty. I had to mix the noodles with the Jasmine white rice to be able to eat it. Thai Red curry - I hate Thai curries and this was actually decent tasting. Goes well with the Jasmine rice. Tom Yum soup - On the blander side. Needs more spices. On the positive note, the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Reasonable portion sizes. Fair prices. Attentive service. Still great foods after all these years. Would have been 4 or even 5 stars if owner can be warmer and more attentive to her customers. Also, never expect to be able to customize your foods, not even putting part of ingredients on the side. However, you can have it takrn out, but not putting it on the side... No no no. We periodically order DD Thai for delivery and I have to say, they're some of the best in the area and they're the only place that delivers to Fair Lawn. Very reasonably priced and always super fresh tasting. Highly recommend the drunken noodles with chicken. It's a little spicy with a great balance with the noodles and veggies. read more

While this is one of my go-to spots for authentic Thai food during lunchtime, it's a rather disappointing experience during a dinner rush. I picked up dinner here on a Friday evening and even after calling ahead was forced to wait an additional 20-25 minutes for our order to be completed. In total, what was supposed to be a quick stop and grab, totaled nearly 45 minutes to an hour. The food was okay - not piping hot, not as pungent and spicy as we requested but the taste was still grounded in authenticity that we were able to enjoy the meal with a few of our own condiments. The dishes I feel like this joint makes particularly well is the Pad Gra Pow, and Green Curry. Tom yum soup might be a pass but again, I think it depends what time of the day you have a hankering for Thai food. read more

I used to order from this spot weekly at work (sometimes even more). Their green curry with tofu is hands down the best green curry I have had at a Thai restaurant. When I happen to dine at other Thai restaurants I want them to make their dish just like DD Thai does, with zucchini, bamboo shoots & red peppers. It's a dish that I crave from them. I like that their pad see ew has Chinese broccoli. Pad kee mao is tasty too and more on the tomato side instead of the overpowering basil which I enjoy with tofu. Love the char the wok brings out on this dish. Chicken basil has fresh crunchy veggies with just the right amount of spice. Small portions so order accordingly. Ambiance: small sits about 20-30 people, clean and filled with Thai decor Service: will be slow if busy since there's usually only one server I'm a fan so far and look forward to returning. This place has the best Thai food that I have had in Bergen County. Yes, it was empty but the take out was constantly going out the door and on our way in one of the customers with a bag full says to us "GREAT FOOD"!! We had steamed dumplings that were fresh and delicious, and not with the usual dumpling sauce. It had a nice consistency to it, when asked they told me it was because the boil it with sugar until it thickens so you get both that spicy and sweet taste. Our dinners of drunken chicken and pad thai with chicken were cooked perfectly. Tonight my partner and I participated in #YelpsBigNightIn to support our local restaurant @YelpNorthJersey. After hearing wonderful reviews about this place established in 2012, we needed to try out DD Thai Cuisine located in Rochelle Park just blocks away from the Garden State Plaza mall. For takeout, we tangent from our normal dishes. Ralph ordered drunken noodles (broad rice noodles, egg, string bean, onion, tomato, basil, zucchini and chili) with chicken. I ordered the rama with chicken sautéed with peanut sauce served on a bed of steamed mixed vegetables with white rice. We got a chance to meet the owner, Srikittima who greeted us at pickup. The food remained warm when we got home. It was amazingly delicious with all its savory smell. For desserts, we had the strawberry cream pastry and the mille-feuille which we bought yesterday from Pierre & Michel Authentic French Bakery. All is all it was a win-win situation. read more

After a crazy Monday, my friend and I only got around to thinking about dinner close to 9:00pm. So, I wasn't TOO surprised that when we strolled in here at around 8:50pm and they told us that it was takeout only at the time. A little bit annoying when you're HANGRY because technically they were supposed to be open until 9:30. The drunken noodles here are FIRE, and I use that word to mean both delicious and spicy. I don't think they make them spicy unless you ask because we ordered one without asking for spicy level and it was pretty mild. For mine, I asked them to make it medium spicy and their medium is probably beyond the "spicy" or "very spicy" level at other restaurants so tread carefully. I definitely recommend getting it with shrimp; they surprisingly put a decent amount of shrimp and it was the great quality ones, not the teeny tiny ones you'd get elsewhere. Since my only experience here was takeout, I can't really comment much on the ambiance but the vibe I got was that it was a small and authentic restaurant with a pretty wide variety of options. Delicious food. We bought a groupon deal of $60 for 4 to dine. We had original duck, grill salmon with mango salad, tofu pad thai, and chicken Thai fried rice. For dessert we ordered fried banana with vanilla ice cream. Boneless duck was flavorful and crispy. Salmon was my fav with mango salad. Dressing was awesome. Service was good. They should hire more wait staff. DD thai is a small, local spot that offers really yummy thai dishes for great prices! As mentioned, the atmosphere is sub par and the service is sometimes lacking, but the food carries it over for me. Whether orderring take out or eating in, their food is delish! I always always get their mango salad, it's light, refreshing & packs the perfect punch. Their chicken satay appetizer is also one of my go-to's, as the chicken is consistently cooked right and pairs great with the tangy dipping sauce. For dinner, the Chicken Rama is 5 stars. Always a solid Thai meal here for New Jersey standards. Their pad Thai is more on the sweet side, which I prefer. The pad see ew, papaya salad, green curry, and duck are also good. As is their curry puffs (comes with 3 pieces). We got their fried calamari app for the first time, and they were chunky pieces of calamari (not the small circles like most fried calamari apps) and fried really well. I came here with my Boo Boo for a quick dinner. We ordered and shared the curry puff, duck and apple salad, shrimp pad see ew, and veggie drunken noodles. The curry puff were bigger than most places and still hot when it was out. To me, the puffs was the best item of the quad. Everything was over sauced. Luckily, the guy came by plenty of times to refill my water. Boo Boo liked it and ranks this place her top 5. We've grown out of the food courts nearby the malls and this place is ideal location. Service: The husband and wife duo, or family combo provides great service and delivers technical plating skills which I found delightful coming from a kitchen of this caliber. There are so many places in this area that attempt to nail it, but DD's actually does. DD's is close to home further adding to the plus.
