We recently visited again and were happy to see that they have now added halal chicken and beef. We asked specifically about cross-contamination because pork is still on the menu. The staff was very helpful and assured us that they would have the chef use separate utensils and a clean, separate wok for our meal. We ordered the Pad See Ew, and it was absolutely perfect -- delicious, well prepared, and easily comparable in quality to some of the best Thai restaurants we have tried. The main concern is that the fryer is still shared with pork products, so fried items cannot really be considered halal due to possible contamination with pork fat. We really appreciate the effort they are making to accommodate halal customers, but having pork on the menu and shared equipment is still a concern. A great example is Top Thai in NYC, which offers similarly excellent Thai food while operating with a fully halal menu. They have built a very strong following, showing that going fully halal does not mean compromising on quality or business potential. Hopefully this restaurant will eventually consider removing pork completely and becoming fully halal as well. The food quality is already there, and considering the surrounding market and demand for good halal food, I believe it could substantially expand their customer base. read more

I have ordered this countless times and at least once they made it spicy when I asked for non-spicy. I think their ordering systems for better since. - Original Thai Basil. So good - Krapow. Make sure it's not the non-Original. - Pad See Ewe w/ Beef - Drunken Noodle - Mango with sticky rice has been standard/nothing wrong with it. This place is amazing. We order on Grubhub maybe twice or three times a month. The food never disappoints. I only ate at the restaurant once years ago but the service and ambiance was good if I recall. I usually get either the chicken pad Thai or chicken pineapple fried rice. It's a bit heartbreaking for me to give this place a 4-star rating when I believe it deserves closer to 4.5-4.6. My newfound craving for Thai food started off well here! The Tom Yum soup, which I was eagerly waiting for, exceeded my expectations. Their green curry with chicken was absolutely delightful, bursting with flavor, and paired perfectly with jasmine rice. I can definitely see myself returning for this and the Tom Yum soup in the near future. The only dish that left us wanting a bit more was the drunken noodles. We expected a stronger rice wine flavor, but it didn't quite hit the mark. Nevertheless, it was still delicious, just not quite what we're used to with when we order drunken noodles. The staff were friendly, and the restaurant had a quiet ambiance. My takeaway is that their Tom Yum Soup and Green Curry alone are definitely worth a return visit. I'm pleased to have found this spot near my home. As for the drunken noodles, I don't dislike them, I actually like them quite a bit but it reminds me of a bit too much like Chow Fun (which I love), so I think they could be a bit more "drunken noodle-ish" if that makes any sense. First time eating at eagle and I ordered takeout. I ordered the red curry with chicken and the spring rolls. Overall I would say the spring rolls were good and the sauce accompanied by it was tangy and nutty. Unfortunately the red curry missed the mark - was unnaturally sweet, watery and the rice I was given was a very small portion. Definitely not a great representation of what a red curry should taste like. If I were to eat here again I'd likely get something different since this wasn't the most impressive. read more

I heard about this restaurant from a friend and finally tried it. I love Thai food and I will say, this place was very good. We ordered the Roti Canai, Nua Nam Tok, Tom Yum Fried Rice, and Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. All were very delicious. However, the reason I am not giving this restaurant a higher rating is because while we were dining, I observed the worker, which might have been the owner, being a little rude and loud with someone picking up a to-go order so that was very off putting. This is one of the best Thai restaurants imho. It isn't a big or fancy place, but it has a nice air and it is cozy. But the reason to come here isn't the atmosphere, it's the food. There aren't many places that rock Pad Thai. Some places it's too dry. Others it lacks the signature tamarind flavor. The pad Thai here is on point. It is saucy not dry. You can absolutely taste the tamarind and it has enough fish sauce to get the umami right but not to make you say eww what is that odd taste. The curries are great. Many places they are very thin. Not here. They each have a nice Thai basil scent and again the flavors meld perfectly in all. The peppers still have some bite and aren't all mushy. The white rice side is generous enough for the whole bowl of curry. The drunken noodles which I honestly find to be uneventful but edible most places are delightful here. They too are saucy but not overly so. They are delicious. The curry puff appetizer is great - and we snarfed them down so fast I couldn't get a picture. Same with the pork dumpling. The pork is so very tasty in those. You can taste the scallion and the ginger and the meat. Delish. And again no picture. We usually get the mango rice for dessert because it is sooo good, but being honest we ordered so much food because we brought a new person with us and wanted him to try them all so we were way too full for dessert. Some of the best Thai food in the area! I have struggled to find good Thai food in Hudson county but I think I may have finally found a restaurant that hits the spot. We ordered the Curry Puffs, Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken and Thai Basil Stir-fry with Beef. The Curry Puffs were good although a little on the soft side. I prefer them crispy but maybe they were baked! Which would be healthier so not a qualm. The prices were reasonable and portions were a nice size. The Pineapple Fried was the most flavorful- it was tossed in a delicious toasted curry with nuts, veggies, pineapple, and the perfect amount of spice. An explosion of flavors. The Thai Basil with beef was also good but much milder flavors so a little less eventful. I look forward to trying other dishes on their menu! FYI- This restaurant is located on a pretty busy street with limited street parking. Also, there was a bit of a language barrier when ordering over the phone so it's best to consult the menu for questions about dishes or check Yelp reviews for recommendations. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant. I originally planned on getting ramen but overestimated my stop for the bus. I've decided to come here instead because it was another place I've wanted to rest around my area. I've dine in. Upon coming in, I was greeted and chose to seat in the more secluded area (turns out to be a mistake haha) as it was harder to flag down the only waiter in the store. While dining in, a lot of people came in and out of the store for takeout orders and deliveries. The time it took to get something was longer than actually obtaining the food, I've decided to order: -Thai iced tea (it came in a cute dainty glass cup) it was a bit too milky, not enough of the actual syrup base. I didn't finish it, the Thai iced teas are usually the first thing to go whenever I go eat out. -Mango sticky rice- it's a seasonal dessert and I knew that it's a hit or miss that the mangoes are sweet and ripe. It's a miss for me. I was just utterly disappointed that the same could be said for the sticky rice. This dish came in separately and came with its own set of utensils. I've cut into it & found a piece of scallion on the bottom (note: picture included) I've decided to go on because flagging down the waiter was another challenge I didn't want to do (again). I couldn't even finish the sticky rice. It was douched in sweetened coconut milk that you find in those cans then topped with sesame seeds. If this is their version of the popular dish, I would not hesitate to let others know, to skip dessert. Normally the dish is mixed in with some coconut but not layered on for presentation. I did not finish it sadly. I needed some water BUT the waiter was on his own so I didn't had the heart to ask (he rarely checked up on his only two dine-in guests) so it was no bother. -Pho broth noodle soup: I really don't know about this dish. It's a different experience compared to other Thai places I've been to. Broth was too rich, rice noodles were over cooked, it was hard to even grasp the noodles with the wooden chopsticks. Although the bowl looks generous, the amount of meat was small. I WAS surprised too, because normally the toppings are included on the side but it came, on my broth. Not a fan from the presentation. As I ate it, I've noted that the broth was too rich maybe because of the combination of the grilled beef (which was prob marinated prior) and the toppings that was placed inside my dish. Truly disappointing first experience. Heard some good reviews and took my Mom and baby daughter to try Eagle Thai for lunch today. I don't typically write reviews -- especially ones that won't benefit the limited Asian (non-Korean) dining options in the neighborhood (as I'd like to see more flourish!) -- but the terrible service we got warranted this. We got there fairly early and were the only patrons. The young female staff with pigtails wasn't the friendliest to begin with, but nothing really egregious happened until our lunch specials were served. (Note, there was one other female staff who had a warm smile that we saw once after being seated and not again for the rest of the meal.) At this point, only one other couple came in to dine for the rest of the time we were there. We both ordered lunch specials, which came with an entree plus an appetizer and drink. I had the drunken noodle with shrimp, which was fine. The problem was my Mom's pad thai. It wasn't edible. Coincidentally, the first broken piece my mom picked up was completely dry/translucent/uncooked. The rest of the plate looked fine and saucy with the outside of the noodle soft, but the center was hard and undercooked. We explained the issue and tried to be reasonable and ask to have the noodles put back in the wok to cook longer (and even offered to save the shrimp so they wouldn't have to cook new ones). She walked away abruptly. When she came back, the shrimp had somewhat shrunken, so it was clear they had definitely reheated it, so we were optimistic. However, after her first bite, while it was marginally better -- the inside of the noodle was still too raw. My mom then asked our server to request the chef to re-do it and if they could boil the noodles longer this time. The grumpy face she greeted us with initially turned even grumpier. This time, she slammed the plate down and huffed -- This is the last time. If you still don't like it, I'll take it off or you can order something else -- and walked away. Surprise! Issue unresolved, most likely because they didn't cook the noodles properly initially and then they became unsalvageable. So my mom went hungry while I quickly finished up the rest of my meal (which was too spicy for baby and grandma to eat). When she came back and asked if we wanted a box for the untouched plate of food, we politely declined and she said she'd take it off (as promised). Great, I thought. However, when the bill came, she charged us separately for the accompanying spring roll appetizer ($4.95) and ginger ale ($2.50) on a lunch special that cost $10.95 (plus a $2 premium for the shrimp choice of protein) where those items were supposed to be included as the "special" part of the "lunch special". On top of that, she decided to add on an 18% automatic gratuity (for her warm and hospitable service). I smiled (really, what else can you do but laugh) and walked up to the counter with a ginger ale in hand (we didn't even want it but it's included in the price). I asked her to take that off the bill and she retorted, I'm still charging for the spring roll because you ate it. Okay, that's fine. I then asked if they always charge an automatic 18% gratuity on every bill and she turned around to ignore me and pretended not to hear. It was so unfortunate. I think everyone understands that the kitchen can get busy (which didn't seem to be the case here) and will sometimes mess up. But the way that it was handled with such a poor attitude was just so unnecessary. I would happily tip even more than 18% if they just tried their best. Altogether, my recommendation is that if you're craving Thai food in the area, it's okay, but opting for delivery may be better. If at all possible, avoid pigtail lady when she's having a bad day, because then it just affects your day. For me personally, that's the first and last time sadly. read more

How does she know we aren't going to give 20% or more. The owner claimed their new system automatically adds on the gratuity. I respect her excuse and will bring my business elsewhere. read more
