I'm being generous with a 3 star rating for this place because some of the food is OK. I'll start with good - tom yum soup was decent, egg rolls were pretty good, red curry was OK, oad thai was OK. Not so good - curry puffs were tasteless, fried calamari were meh. Not good - duck salad had dry overcooked duck, green curry with beef was barely edible and had a funky sidekick flavor reminiscent of stale bucket water after the floors were mopped with beef that they threw in there, which was dry and super chewy. Water they serve is straight out of tap and I doubt it's even filtered as it had smell and taste that didn't have any hint of filtration. And a 20% automatic gratuity added to your bill for a group of 5 plus. Had to ask 1 waiter for a check 3 times. Got it finally after asking another waiter. First and last time for me in this establishment. Those posting 5 star reviews probably never had good Thai food. This place doesn't hold a candle to restaurants like Pimaan Thai or Wyckoff Thai. Used to be regulars here 10 years back and we recently visited after a long gap as we were in the area. The quality of the food hasn't changed much . We ordered satay , chicken curry puffs for the kids and adults and those were tasty - the curry puff texture is very nice and tastes great too Our favourite is the volcano chicken which comes on fire to the table however this is an overall sweet dish So if you are a sucker for sweet n spicy chicken this might be one for you We also ordered massaman curry and was very tasty We ordered spicy fried rice and drunken noodles too to go with the curries Overall they have spice levels from 1-10 and they can cater to that The service is really good and it's a medium sized restaurant and it can seat large groups too Parking is mostly available on the street itself read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review about this place. Every time someone asks me for suggestions on where to eat, this place is definitely on the list of choices. Their food is solidly good! I've never been disappointed with anything I tried. Period. I especially love the papaya salad and their noodle dishes. When I was there, they were doing a happy hour during the weekdays from 12:00pm-6:00pm. (Hopefully my pic of the menu will show up with my review.) Things to know before you go: -I do admit that for the price of the food, you don't get as much food as you would expect. But I think Thai food is on the pricier side. -When they ask you what spice level, it is spicy even at level 2 and 3 for me and I like spice. But if you can't do spicy, then do level 1 or 0. -There is metered parking in the front and back. If you park in the back, there is a back entrance into the restaurant. You'll still have to walk to the front to get a table. -They have a lunch special on the weekdays. -I've never seen it packed but if you're going with a big party, I would recommend a reservation. read more

This place is just want I wanted. I have been going to Woondee but found them gettin dirty and a bit lazy. The food here is seasoned just right. Clean restaurant and friendly staff. Ordered their equivalent to the drunken noodle with tofu and mixed vegetables. Tofu had a nice crisp waitress asked from scale of 1 to 10 hoe I like spice. At first I said 10 but thought quick and said 6. Thank God I did. Amazing graphics kick not to much. Salad was great with a nice thick peanut dressing. And served me jasmine tea. I returned to Bangkok Garden for a sit down meal, after many COVID takeout orders, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant has plenty of seating, is nicely decorated with Thailand themes, and every item was well presented. The hardworking staff works with military precision. Every staff member did a fabulous job and all deserve kudos. Their Thai Iced Coffee was very good. It was served in a tall glass and all of the ingredients blended perfectly for a satisfying drink. We started with the Chicken Satay (sliced breast of chicken, marinated in coconut milk, with a hint of curry, skewered and grilled, served with peanut sauce and cucumber salad). This was an enjoyable starter, the sides were thoroughly enjoyed and is recommended. Our entrees were: Pad See (stir-fried rice noodles with Chinese broccoli, egg, and brown sauce). The other entree was the Bangkok Lemon Chicken (Marinated chicken breast, pan-fried to golden brown, sliced, served over broccoli, and topped with homemade lemon sauce). Both choices were well seasoned, I appreciated the chicken being sliced, and both were filling. I'm exploring more Thai restaurants in the area and stumbled upon this one on a Friday night. It's a local spot located on Hackensack's bustling main street. Street parking can be difficult to find. We walked in at 8pm and it wasn't too busy so were seated immediately. The menu has TONS of options. Every authentic and classic Thai dish you can think of! Whenever I try a new Thai spot I always order Pad Thai and Thai Iced Tea. I consider these staples for my first impression. They have a cocktail menu but I don't recommend it. It costs $6-$8 but it seems to be just made from cheap pre-made drink mixes with a tiny splash of liquor. Skip the "alcoholic" drinks. The servers were attentive and polite. Our food came out quickly and I was ready to chow down. Chicken Pad Thai $14 - Flavors were pretty spot on! Not the best I've had but I enjoyed my meal. Portion size was good too. Thai Iced Tea $4 - It was a little sweeter than what I'm used to but still tasty. I'm glad I gave this place a try. I think it's a great bang for your buck. Dinner for 2 with drinks and entrees was around $40. I will be returning to try more dishes! read more

This is the first Thai place in Bergen county that I actually enjoyed eating at, which is saying a lot since I've tried so many duds around here I had honestly given up looking for anything decent. The food here is definitely up to snuff. The chicken skewers were good, the beef pad prik was flavorful and totally delicious and the tom yum noodles were divine. The latter was so good it was perfect on a cold rainy night. The tofu Tod appetizer was also nice and very well fried, not overly cooked like so many others places often seem to make it. The service here is also quite nice and everyone was very friendly. I also enjoyed how spacious the place is. Street parking wasn't hard to find close by as well. If you're into Thai food and just want to enjoy a nice meal with a refreshing glass of Thai iced tea, this is a great place to go. read more

We were a party of 10 and each ordered a dish and shared. Most of the food were good but nothing memorable. Spottu service... I ordered a fried sea base MP for my entree, being the most expensive dish of the party ringing up at $45 and it came out first, I was wide-eyed and could;t wait. I asked for chopsticks as it was easier to maneuver, especially with the pick-up and release to share, but was ignored. As additional rounds of entries came out, I requested again. But that was ignored as well. All the entrees arrived and we started eating. I got the feeling that my none revenue generating request was deliberately being ignored, so I got up and went to their service station and got the chopsticks myself. Been here a handful of times and my experience has generally been the same. To be honest I was a bit underwhelmed with my experience considering all the reviews here. The restaurant is located in downtown Hackensack, parking is going to be a challenge and you'll likely need to pay for street parking. Thankfully not too expensive but still a hassle. Decent decor inside and they have plenty of seating. Food option seem to be comparable to most other Thai restaurants. I've tried their basil tofu and pad thai dishes which are usually my go-to options at Thai restaurants. They also offer soup, salad, or an egg roll if you come during lunchtime. The food was okay but nothing special, and I was a bit disappointed with the Pad Thai, just didn't have flavor and wasn't a fan of the noodles. I was even more disappointed with the salad and egg rolls. The Basil Tofu dish I remember being a little better, and one plus is that they can make the dishes spicy depending on your preference. Portion size was pretty good even for lunch. Service was not great. I suppose it's not totally out of the norm for most asian restaurants and they may just have been busy, but I felt pretty rushed and that their tone was fairly rude. It pains me to write this review as i've been a loyal dine-in & takeout customer for more than 10 years, recommending Bangkok Garden to everyone. What used to be hands down THE most delicious, authentic Thai food around, as well as spectacular service, has sadly declined beyond awful. The last 6 or 7 takeout orders were so poorly packaged that I had to shampoo the carpet in my car once, and the other times there was a soupy mess as the bottom of the bag by the time I got home. The staff used to package our takeout into multiple bags and individually wrap in plastic bags the entrees that has a lot of broth to prevent spilling. Now they shove $125.00 worth of food into one giant shopping bag making it very heavy and absolutely crushing the dishes at the bottom. I can say with confidence over the last 10 years they never messed up a takeout order. Over the past 6 months however, I would guess 75% of our orders something was wrong. Whether they omitted a dish, gave us something completely different than what we ordered, or put meat in a vegetarian requested entree. Most recently (last week and this week) there's a weird taste and smell to our entrees. And they are VERY oily and greasy too, which was never the case. This is just a guess, but I would say the gradual decline in food quality and overall service along with a complete change in staff indicates the restaurant was sold and the new owners are cutting quality for their bottom line. Just a guess. Very sadly we will no longer patron this former 5 star restaurant. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday at around 1:45 for a late lunch when I was craving some Thai food. I found Bangkok Garden Thai nearby and it had pretty good reviews so we decided to check it out. There were still quite a few tables dining there at the time. I went with the classic pad Thai with chicken. It was pretty standard. However, their condiment caddy helped. It had chili sauce, and pickled Thai chilies and we ate most of that. Portions are a tad smaller than most Thai restaurants. Hubby had the jumbo shrimp massaman, which was crispy shrimp with green beans in a coconut curry sauce. Though pricey, this dish was good. I really liked the sauce and ended up using some on my pad Thai. Green beans were a bit undercooked but I liked how they used it as a raft for the shrimp, so that it wouldn't get soggy. Not sure I would go out of my way to come back here, but it satisfied the craving. Tip - the restaurant is located on a pretty busy Main Street , so your best bet for parking is the street behind, and you can cut through the back of the restaurant. read more

My boyfriend and I had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. We were craving for authentic Thai food and this spot was a hidden gem! We were impressed with how good the food was. We shared the green curry with chicken and drunken noodle with shrimp dish. Both were delicious. The only mediocre dish was the appetizer, pork ribs were way too dry and not flavorful. My partner and I haven't been to this establishment in many years, and a friend came into town and wanted Thai food, so we recommended Bangkok Garden, located on Main Street in Hackensack, for dinner. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff and got a table without reservations as it was early. Don't let the empty tables fool you. Within 45 minutes, most tables were filled. Their interior was enhanced by traditional Thai pictures, wall arts, and decor. The menu was extensive, and we decided on the Thai tempura as a starter to be shared. The batter was light, not greasy, and the shrimp were flavorful. For our main meal, we opted for the Pad King (sautéed with fresh sliced ginger, onion, mushroom, scallion, and red bell pepper), Pad Ma-Moung (sautéed cashew nut, celery, onion, mushroom, and house special red sauce), Honor To The King (boneless breast of chicken marinated in egg and chef's special herb & spice, pan-fried to golden brown, served with sweet & spicy sauce and curry rice), and Pad See Ew with Tofu. Met two cousins here earlier this week. My first time there and but so glad we found on Yelp. It was a Thursday evening and the place wasn't crowded but still had a decent crowd. Spacious and open. There was an odd smell or aroma circulating the establishment but must have been the food. We ordered chicken pad Thai and it was good! Fresh, decent amount of chicken and although lacking a tiny bit of flavor, we did enjoy the dish. When we asked for hot sauce they immediately brought a soy caddy to our table including soy sauce, red pepper flakes and a nice smooth chunky spicy sauce. Thai is in my Top3.... and I seek a Thai spot wherever I go. This place is in Hackensack and my Numero 1 on New Jersey, thus far. It started out a couple years ago while I was at previous job... my good friends/ coworkers raved about it. So of course I had to check it. One taste of their Pad See Ewe.... I was toast. It is so nicely seasoned and those lovely flat noodles made my head spin. Ohhh and they serve a nice wine.. one glass is sufficient to feel as good as you should. Lol I've had their pineapple fried rice.. coconut soup. I gotta stop typing... it's raining and I don't have enough gas to wiz by and get my dish. Should you go? Ummm yeaahh. There's parking.
