You can just tell when working with home improvement people whether someone is a real pro, or whether they are out of their league, and these folks clearly knew their stuff. There were a few delays when the carpet didn't arrive all at the same time, but after checking in with me they installed what they had, super quickly, and then came back immediately when the remainder arrived and got the rest of the job done. Hardwood, carpet and vinyl tiles.. It's important to us to try and support local businesses when we can.. This was a BIG mistake on our part. Service: 5 starts because Mike is awesome.. Even with all the 'issues' (and we had LOTS) he was very professional and Pleasant.. He bent over backwards for us.. Installation: 0 stars A NIGHTMARE! They hired JL Flooring who were very unprofessional! They did a horrible job on the installation of the hardwood flooring, large gaps between the flooring and the baseboards, uneven cuts at the bottom of the door casing into our front room, destroyed the base of our stairs by hacking the bottom (see photo), then they thought they would pacify me by putting some cheap quarter round rubber molding on the bottom to hide it. NOPE! They hired Bay Area Stairs to come in and fix it and they did an amazing job of putting a new piece over the old and it looks fabulous. They left our flooring with glue all over and there are spots where they rubbed too hard and left marks. JL Flooring also damaged our walls by hitting them with who knows what and took 3 chucks of texture off our walls, not to mention they had there dirty hand prints all over our freshly painted walls which my husband had to go back and re paint.. They were suppose put the base board back on, my husband and I busted our butts to sand them down & paint them and they installed the master bedroom, again did a crappy job corners are sticking out and not even and flush like they are in the rest of the home. Then there is the issue about the transition pieces between the hardwood and the kitchen flooring.. Again they want to put some thick pieces that you would trip on each time and looked like hell.. Vallejo flooring had to send out yet another flooring company (West Coast Floor Company-Jesus) they did a great job on the transition piece.. West Coast Floor Company are a real hardwood floor installation company! Who were both professional and respectful of our home.. Unlike JL Flooring who did a terrible job and was very disrespectful of our home and trashed it! They left big globs of glue on the carpet and our baseboard.. At one point I said I do not want them coming back into our home, find someone else to finish this job.. I was assured by Vallejo Flooring they would be better and "take care of me".. Well, that didn't happen at ALL! In the end, Vallejo Flooring gave us an adjustment (as they put it for alleged damages) of $175 for us to re-paint our walls, fix the gashes in our walls, remove the glue from the walls, carpet, flooring, fix the front door edges and bottom step and $122.50 to install the base boards.. The owner Ron & Mike both came out here and saw all the items listed. Mike came out several time before the job started, these damages were not here prior to the job staring and we certainly didn't do it..

So by 435 he arrived he didn't have samples so we focused on measurements. He took very detailed measurements and advised he would provide a quote for just upstairs and both up and downstairs. He advised he would provide the measurements and quotes a couple of days later. The price was a couple hundred less than the guy I decided to go with. I only went with the other guy because of the delay in receiving the quote. I think they will do a great job if you decide to go with them.

Peter did a very good job two years ago of the oak floors throughout my 1424 sq ft house. I chose him because he presented well in the first meeting, had much attention to detail, gave a better quote than two others, and the scheduled start date worked for me as well. All of the furniture moved out and moved back in was unscathed. He was professional throughout except for one item. In my bedroom there was a 2" by 1" spot by the wood register where the wood floor was a little jagged. It would've been good had he mentioned it to me. Once the sander went over the spot it raised up and got worse. I didn't see it until a week after the job was completed. Peter shared his concern that there may be termite activity but together we checked it and such was not the case. I would've preferred that he alerted me to it initially and warn that the sander could damage it further or tell me that it had happened instead of my finding it later. I understood that he would return to repair it and was willing to pay him but texts to him re this went unanswered. The job is small and will require some time but in the meantime found a small container of the same stain but have not found anyone yet that can/will do the job. Thus the four stars.

I dislike about 95% of the carpet out there ... but don't have the option of putting in hard floors. My pickiness was no match for Andrew, however; he helped me find that needle in the haystack. He pulled out collections that fit my criteria, throwing them on the showroom floor and having me home in on the promising ones via process of elimination. When I showed him some varieties of carpet that I liked from a company outside of The Floor Store's network, he researched them to see if their products met his standards and if working with them would go smoothly (not so much). He got an in-network vendor to send larger samples so that I could really see what various styles would look like in my home. And he walked me through the contract process step by step, making sure I understood exactly what I was signing and paying for. Once that contract was signed, everything moved quickly. Andrew checked in during installation and even humored me at the final stage, allowing me to give him a virtual tour once the carpet was laid. I would certainly recommend him and The Floor Store to anyone looking to get new hard floors or carpet. It's probably not the cheapest option, but my anecdotal evidence tells me that the service can't be beat.
