My first time here, I saw some good reviews from my fellow Yelpies and had to come to check it out! First the area through me of not too many places around so a hole-in-the-wall type of place with a lot of history. But... YES food was yummy and plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. Our server Cody was so kind and gave us so many options to choose from we wanted to try EVERYTHING! We started with Chips and Queso OMG I am always on the search for the right Queso and the chips were so fresh, we also ordered Bean and Cheese Quesadilla, Camote Taco, Mushroom Picadillo Taco, and Sweet Potato Taco. Service was slightly rancid, but the hottest people I've ever seen in my life kept respawning here every 3 seconds so I get it. Ambience was giving Parking Lot Party by Lee Brice if Bad Bunny was featured (my favorite). One of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to in Austin, TX. The crowds throng on a Friday night and luckily I got a seating outside. We were a party of 8 and we were able to get a large table. We got a moody waitress who thawed up to us over a period of time. We started of with the house margaritas on the rock and luckily it was happy hour but the price wasn't much of a difference. Also, got the chips and queso and guac. Loved the Queso over the guac and it was cheaper during the happy hour. Chips and Salsa during happy hour was just $1.5, I know , it could be complimentary at other places but with Queso and Guace were $4.5 and $8 respectively. The tacos were amazing. Overall: come for the food stay for the margs! They limit you to only 2 margs because of how strong they can be but don't be shy because they have unique flavors! Food: crispy quesadilla are essentially deep friend empanada looking bites. Yes they are incredibly tasty with the juicy flavorful filling (pork was mouthwatering). Similarly their tacos are incredibly loaded and all this at a super reasonable price. Their queso is nice and cheesy with a bit of spice and onions. The guac is not bad either! The chips are your classic deep fried and they just keep them coming out. Drinks: their margaritas come with ice or as a slushie. The flavors are incredibly unique with prickly pear and guava as well as the usual mango pineapple etc. Getting creative? Mix them! But be careful cause the alc is quite strong. Came here for a send off dinner, and we sat outside. Upon arriving, parking is kind of hectic but I was able to find a spot. We made a reservation and it was only for outdoor, and under a patio. It took us a minute to find where to check in, but we managed and then found our table. Inside is nice and cool from the brief moment we were in there. Once seated, we were greeted by our waitress promptly and had waters on the table. We ordered an app and some drinks. Our drinks were good and strong! We all took a minute to decide on food, but ordered! Once the food arrived, it was good. I got the two beef tacos and my daughter at the kids chicken and cheese quesadilla. We dug in and ate it all. Overall would come back. A little frustrated as myself and one other ordered food to go and they packaged it all together leaving it to where I didn't get any tortillas because we had to dig and separate. DoorDash + De Nada Cantina really said, "Good luck surviving." They forgot our chips, which, in hindsight, was a blessing, because at least those couldn't poison us. The beef tacos? Straight up biological warfare. A few hours later, both of us were violently sick: vomiting, diarrhea, chills, body aches... all while trying to keep our one year old alive and entertained. Ever tried holding a toddler while your insides are evacuating? It's a level of hell I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. For the price they charge, I expected dinner, not a full system shutdown. Being that, I currently live in Southern California it's hard to find good Mexican food that's authentic elsewhere ..... but this definitely was a great spot! Can we stop with fancy names and just call things what they are? Quesadillas are advertised to be how you get them in Mexico City but they're really just empanadas. Super tiny so if you're interested then make sure you buy more than one. This was annoying for me especially as I did not dine in the establishment. I heard great things about De Nada so we stopped by around 9p on a Wednesday night. We were surprised that they were still so busy! We were told it would be a 45 minute wait, so we popped into the bar to grab a drink and wait outside. The wait did not end up being 45 minutes, so that was a pleasant surprise! I ordered the La Ultima Countdown and OMG, is it good!! My husband ordered the ginger Paloma and loved it, too. Their queso is TOP NOTCH! We ordered a few different tacos that I now cannot recall, but one of mine was vegetarian. We were very happy with our choices. The decor and general look of the place is quirky and unique. The dining area that is beyond the bar appears as though it was an enclosed patio, with it's cute little fountain in the middle of the room. The servers are busy, but decently attentive and had great personalities both times. One of them even went to talk to a girl for our friend - with ZERO hesitation! We liked it so much that we took friends there over the weekend. Our friend also enjoyed everything we ordered. This place is a solid choice, but I recommend making a reservation or being okay with a wait. You don't want to miss De Nada Cantina - it's definitely far more than nothing! read more

De Nada was such a fun spot! I went with some friends, and we had a really good time. Fair warning the margs are insanely strong. I got the mango one and I can't even imagine how strong the regular must be. They definitely don't skimp on the tequila. I also loved the cute cups they came in. The tacos were solid. I got a breakfast taco and a chicken taco. The chicken one was my favorite. The egg one was still good, I am just not a big fan of smoky beans. We also got chips and queso which were pretty yummy. Our waiter was super friendly and kept checking in on us even when we weren't ready to order yet. The ambiance was also really nice. Ugh. De Nada! We're breaking up, officially. I used to love you. I used to enjoy everything you had to offer. I just had my 2nd or 3rd unsatisfactory experience in a row and just like in romance - one too many chances given here. The queso was great - the chips were great. I'll say if you want drinks and queso with chips or any dips and chips, probably still a good bang. But if you're looking to fully commit to tacos and quesadillas, it's been damaged goods lately. They need therapy. They need to "find themselves again". I had an unpleasant experience with the bean and cheese quesadillas comapred to past experiences in the first two disappointing orders, so I was ready to move on there, but lo - a birria option appears?! I had to try it. It was actually disgusting. I took two bites and threw it away. Those bitses were full of mystery meat feeling grossness that included big fat chunks and gristle? ew god. I've never had birria. The consume that came with it tasted nothing like consume. Whoever made this doesn't know birria which is weird because there's a lot of options in town to learn from. Then I moved on the the crispy beef tacos and again something is weird with the meat and the crispy tortillas break up which happens, but the whole experience was off and bad. I haven't gotten to the other tacos I ordered but hold me - I'm scared. Maybe it's inflation? Maybe they have an avoidant attachment and I'm too keen? In any case, this situationship has turned toxic for me and there's more options to explore out there. read more

If there was an award for how much queso could be consumed in a four day period our group would be a top contender. The nine of us grabbed dinner at De Nada after finishing up a nearby SXSW event. We ordered a number of appetizers to share, including their chips and guac, queso, and an assortment of tacos/quesadillas. With a revolving menu of frozen margarita flavors, I ended up picking the guava. This drink was on the sweeter side, served in the cutest souvenir cup, and definitely resulted in a few brain freezes. No pain, no gain, right? My favorite item of the night was the quesadilla, which looked oddly similar to an empanada. This meat pocket was filled with juicy shredded carnitas and cheese. Both tasty and memorable. The interior of De Nada is photo worthy with lots of plants and adorable decor around every corner. read more

My partner and I were visiting Austin and checking out housing options for the potential future. My partner found this spot, knowing my love for blue corn anything, and we ended up coming here twice out of the three days we were visiting. We had two different servers, and both were EXCELLENT! One was Meg and the other was Jose or maybe Juan (I can't remember, but he was also excellent!). I've never had such delicious tacos as I've had at De Nada- the blue corn tortillas really add a little something extra, and the carnitas were literally the best I've ever had. We sat outside both times, and the second day was pretty warm. They have oscillating fans that most water, so it keeps you cool (well, those and the frozen margaritas...). One thing we really liked was if you're waiting for a table, you can sit right outside their seating area and have a margarita and chips & dip while you wait. Talk about making the time fly by! The inside is very very basic, but outside is actually very cute if you can stand the heat with a fan. I have heard so much about De Nada, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere is SO fun and lively. We started with some chips and queso and, obviously, a round of margs. I started with the frozen prickly pear margarita, and it was SO good. But WOW, these were strong! We followed this up with a round of classic margaritas and Mexico City bean and cheese quesadillas. These are not your typical quesadillas. They were crispy on the outside and full of hot, melty cheese in the crust. Our server, Kristina, was wonderful, and she made our experience so fun! This has been one of the better dining experiences in Austin in some while. With the advent of new hip places, the expectation of quality - food and service - seems to have dropped overall. Not here though. The place is adorable - with one room designed like a little Pueblo square with a fountain. There is also plenty of outdoor seating. Our server was an adorable lady who had the bibe of a Mexican Aunt who wanted to make sure you were well fed. The Queso was excellent, the "quesadillas" are really more like empanadas. It was delicious though quite rich. The tacos were excellent. All in all - plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian options to enjoy a filling meal. I've come to De Nada Cantina many times with my wife and with friends. The food is DELICIOUS. I haven't had a quesadilla as good as De Nadia's in Austin. Last night I had one carnitas and one brisket quesadilla--the brisket one is newer for me, don't believe they've been serving it too long. I also had a barbacoa taco. All were delicious and I wanted to share specifically about the brisket quesadilla--it had a Smokey flavor, it was moist and I love that it came out piping hot--tells me how fresh their food is made. I had a frozen mango margarita to drink, perfect for the hot weather we've been having. The food came out so quick!! We ordered and about 10 minutes later it was being served to us. The server was attentive and had a great personality. We appreciated him constantly checking on us. It was PACKED. We had looked into making a last minute reservation online, but there wasn't availability until 10:15 PM. We decided to walk-in and see how long the wait was. At 7 PM, for a party of 5 (on a Saturday) we waited for about 45 minutes to get a table, which wasn't bad considering the amount of people there were. I ordered through delivery, and the food came HOT! I got the barbacoa tacos and the chamoy fruit cup. The barbacoa meat came separate from the tortillas, and they gave a hefty serving of meat to FILL the tortillas up. The meat was super tender and flavorful. I also received three tortillas. The tortillas were unique in that they were the blue corn ones. They complimented the juicy barbacoa just perfectly. They also included a green salsa, which was pretty spicy (6/10 on the spice scale), but it added a great flavor to the tacos. Lastly, they also gave me pickled onions and cilantro to top off my taco, which was a nice refreshing touch. The fruit cup had a wide variety of fruits from cantaloupe to pineapple to watermelon, but the chamoy was not the sweet one. It was the more earthier flavored one, which I don't prefer, but it was not a deal breaker since the fruit was fresh. They also included Tajin to sprinkle on top. Prices were fair for the portion sizes. 8.5/10! I might get it again if I'm craving some good barbacoa tacos. read more

Food: 3/5 The menu is pretty small, so there aren't many options to pick from. Ive had a couple of their tacos and they were ok, nothing special about them. Drinks: 4/5 I want to assume most people come here for their strong margaritas and not necessarily for the food. A bit on the pricey side for the margarita in the pink cup (around $15), but good overall. Service: 3/5 Ive had a waiter who did a great job, but have also had other waiters who weren't that great. This last time, someone in our party had to go look for our waiter to get our bill. Which I was still charged incorrectly, but I was in a hurry so didn't bother bringing it up.
