Amazing. Until…read morerecently, I hit up thrift stores in Massachusetts. A few in Springfield, one in Westfield...they were okay. Every once in a while, you'd find something. This one? Not only did I have an ARMFUL of clothing to try on the second I walked in the door, but EVERYTHING (except the green ticketed items) was 50% on Wednesdays. I ended up spending under $40 and walking away with two huge bags of treasures that included four pairs of shoes, some great outfits and some housewares. Not only was the stuff there amazing and cheap, but the workers were so nice and friendly, as were the customers. I don't normally talk and joke with people when I shop, but I did here. The only thing that keeps this store from getting all five stars is the fact that it only had one changing room. I had a cart full of merchandise and felt badly that I was holding people up (even though I only tried on four things at a time and let others go in between, I did have a LOT of items--and it would have been nice to really take my time when trying things on instead of rushing.) Also, while this is not the fault of the shopkeepers in any way, but...doesn't anyone with GOOD music taste donate their records to charity? It's all Barbra Streisand and Mitch Miller and the Gang. Give me some Tom Waits, dammit.

But as loaded as it was, it was very well organized and very neat, so shopping and browsing was a real pleasure. They consign an extensive range of Junior & Women's clothing, household Items, home décor, artwork, fine and costume jewelry, silver & gold handbags, shoes, scarves & accessories, small wood furniture, books, CD's, DVD's, gifts, and collectibles. They recently introduced men's clothing to their selection, though currently, their men's inventory is limited to around a dozen outerwear coats and a few colorful bicycle racing jerseys. I also saw a nice selection of soaps, cosmetics, personal care and pet care items. One cool thing I spotted among their collection of sealed party games, was one titled "Fact or Crap." Curtains are a strange thing to buy. I'm still not really sure where to buy them, aside from Marshalls and Macy's, I guess. And of course, Joey's Shopping Spree. They have more curtains under one roof than I have ever seen in my life put together. You really have to look to find something good, but it's totally worth it. $25 for insulated and lined curtains for a slider... yeah I'm okay with that! I always take a look at the men's shirts first. I was very surprised to see them tagged at $12 here, which is substantially more than I customarily see at the Simsbury store, where I've picked up quite a few similar long sleeve Oxford shirts for $5. Otherwise, the store is very neat and organized and has the usual accompaniment of clothing, footwear, accessories, household goods, books, etc. I'm definitely a fan of thrift and second hand stores, and even though I was looking for a long sleeve white shirt, I walked out empty-handed today.

I will say that their prices can be pretty expensive at time for some pieces - this could be typical for those types of pieces, but I don't have the expertise to say one way or the other. They do have someone who works to fix up furniture before it is sold, so anything you buy here will likely be ready to display in your house. Also, while I didn't find anything today, I have previously purchased furniture here and my advice would be not to be afraid to negotiate, especially if you are buying multiple pieces. The staff was able to go down in price a bit, so I felt like I got a deal.
