We stopped by on a whim during a busy weekend dinner service but were lucky enough to score the last 2 top in the bar area. We love the contrast of fine dining in the cozy Adirondack style lodge! We had excellent service, the entrees were a little slow to come out but we weren't in a hurry and it was understandable with how busy they were. It was well worth the wait since every bite and sip was perfection as always! Steaks were cooked as ordered and deliciously seasoned! We will absolutely be back! We have lived in the area for almost 3 yrs and spoke about this Restaurant a few times to visit, finally pulling the trigger on a chilly Sunday evening. Upon entering for our reserved time, we were taken to our booth, and left with menus. The first clue to our experience was no one asked if we would like our coats checked. Most 'upscale' places would have asked that immediately. I suppose folding our coats and laying them on the bench of the booth would have also triggered this conversation. Nope. An agreeable server greeted us, ask what type of water we preferred, and let us know where we could find their signature cocktails. As we scanned the menu, we noticed the prices were quite high, and assumed the quality would equal the costs. $26.00 for a Tuna Tartare, and $28.00 for the Steak Tartare seem a little above market. Also, they were asking for $4.50 per half shelled Oyster. Again, pretty high for this area. I usually order a half dozen, but I was a semi cautious, having been burned by local restaurants serving very small oysters. This was no different. I ordered 4 Blue Points, ( .99 cents in the grocery) and was shocked to see 2 normal ( again, for this area) and 2 very small oysters. Burned. We also ordered the Tuna Tartare, and again, it was just ok. Uneven chunks of tuna, atop a strange scoop of avocado( which we had to mash ourselves in order to gain a reasonable mouthful. We decided to have the Tableside Caesar Salad, that's always fun. Most places that have this service, will have a dedicated Maître de or Host create this for you~ we had our over worked waitress. It was 1 1/2 hours between being seated and a salad. On a Sunday. And a VERY over rushed waitress. It wasn't pleasant, and we felt bad for her. Needless to say, the dressing was rushed, therefore the proper amount of ingredients were not acceptable. There was a shocking amount of vinegar and Worcestershire, but how could you tell this poor girl you can barely choke it down? A pork Chop was ordered, and the evenings 'special' a New Filet Trio with a 1/2 lb ( just a leg) of steamed crab- deshelled $60 for the trio and $80 for the leg!!! This is where my lesson comes in- ALWAYS ASK MRK prices, at unfamiliar establishments. My bad. We also order off of there side menu, since we were all in by now. We ordered the gloopy mash potatoes, the polenta they had to take off the bill since it was inedible, and the 4 pieces of grilled asparagus that came smothered in parmesan cheese?? (why on earth are your smothering fresh asparagus in shaved cheese??) My poor husband was 3 Barrel aged Old Fashions in ($18.00 per) and I was 2 Paper Planes ( $16.00 per and was meh) by the time was had our waitress box the entire meal, to be tossed out at home. Because we were embarrassed! At one point, a 'hostess' came over and said " sorry to interrupt, but how was everything??" Listen, she could care less how our meal was, because she directly seated herself in the 'private' dining area next to us, with a full compliment of wine bottles behind her and 3 glass walls surrounding her, and began eating her own supper. Closed off to any irritant she may experience. What absolute gall. Thank God the cappuccino machine was broken, it saved us $10.00 for one cup! Meanwhile, don't they require a dress code at his establishment? I won't say more... After paying our $500.00 bill ( for 2 ppl) we unfolded our coats, and proceeded out, with the 'hostess' engaged in what seemed to be a very personal, almost depressive conversation with a patron, and never bothered to excuse herself to send us off with even a 'thanx' ~ Oh KSL- Lesson Learned. And yes, the overworked waitress received a $50.00 tip. She was lovely and my only hope is she finds a better establishment to work in. read more

We went here for dinner last night and the food was wonderful. Their appetizers and sides are perfect for sharing with a large group. They have a large drink menu to choose from as well. It was a loud environment and we were seated by the door, so a lot of foot traffic as well. Otherwise, great spot for a nice night out. read more

My partner and I ordered 2 Margaritas & 1 Diet Coke, the Brie/Jam Appetizer, French Onion Soup, Beef Wellington, Seafood Stir Fry, 3 Sides (Mashed Potatoes, Brussel Sprouts, and a Twice Baked Potato), and Cheesecake. The total (with 20% tip and CC fee) was $300 exactly. Positives - Contrary to the reviews of others, we actually loved the lodge feel. While it was a bit dated, it's worth mentioning that this restaurant does not have a dress code and does have a more casual feel - so you can dress comfy and that is something I actually loved about the place! The Brie/Jam Appetizer (ORDER THIS!), French Onion Soup, Beef Wellington, and Mashed Potatoes were the stars of the evening! I was able to cut the Beef Wellington with just a fork - it was the most tender cut of meat I've ever tasted. Our waiter was also fantastic! Very attentive staff - several people checked on us, refilled our waters, and took used plates. Negatives - The music was loud and the playlist was odd for the environment. The drinks were canned - no fountain drinks available. The shrimp in the Seafood Stir Fry was hard and rubbery. The Brussel Sprouts and Cheesecake tasted average - nothing particularly special about those. I was overwhelmed by the amount of menu items our waiter went over that were not on the menu. He rattled off 6-7 full menu items that sounded delicious, but my brain could not keep up with his speed of listing everything back-to-back - I would have preferred a written menu with the specials. read more

Our first time at The Lodge, having dined at Tre Belle and KSG numerous times we sporadically decided to give The Lodge a try. Last minute reservations put us in the outdoor patio area- I was skeptical but it was a great spot. Nice sunset view, rustic ambiance and very toasty! Our server (Stacey?) was wonderful! Friendly, attentive and gave excellent recommendations. Cocktails were great, nice diverse menu The Japanese shrimp were my favorite, unique and delicious! My husband enjoyed the Beef Wellington and I devoured the Sacchetti pasta. My dish was the favorite of both of ours, yum! For dessert, we split the crème brûlée, another great choice. I will say, I was very surprised by the number of young children. We were surrounded by kids on both sides, and as parents ourselves who were hoping to enjoy a date night, it was a bit interruptive of our evening... We chose Ken Stewart's restaurant for our special evening out after living in the area for nearly 30 years and had never been there. When making the reservation, I was asked about any special occasion. I did mention we were celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary that day. I'm not sure why they asked as the only acknowledgment of anything special was a "happy anniversary" to us when we checked in for our table. Being such an upscale and expensive restaurant I would've thought they would send a little something over as an acknowledgment of our special night as I have experienced with other restaurants in the past. The surroundings were very nice and the waitress was excellent. I ordered the beef Wellington, which I found was a little tougher than I thought it would be, although I had never had it before. My husband had the halibut which we both liked. We had the lobster deviled eggs, which were good although I did find a shell in the filling while eating one of them. The bread was great, but my favorite thing I think was the wedge salad with the white French dressing, which was excellent. All in all we decided for the price not sure we would come again to this restaurant as there were some things we were disappointed in. read more

We tried this for the first time, and I'm not impressed. Don't get me wrong, there were definitely some positives like the excellent service, but none of it was worth the cost. The ambiance isn't my thing. It's a "lodge" setting, but it's all inauthentic and cheap looking. The menu looks great if you like steak and seafood, but the reality doesn't live up to the hype. We got the small, chilled seafood tower ($145), and it was a lot of food, but it was mostly flavorless and it was obvious that most, if not all, had been in the freezer for a while, particularly the mussels, which were shriveled and tasteless. The Caesar salad was good (though they weren't offering table side preparation the day after Valentine's Day), but it's not exactly a complicated dish. Our entrees were very good though my walleye required just a dash of salt to make the flavors pop. My husband was very happy with his salmon, and we shared the peanut butter bomb for dessert and liked it. Again, not so difficult to scoop some ice cream into a warm cookie. Our final bill with tip came to just over $400. I've eaten at Michelin star restaurants for about the same price, and this was FAR from being Michelin Star quality. read more

You'll find the standard items on the menu that most white tablecloth steakhouses offer. The great thing about their menu is that they seasonally craft new cocktails and appetizers to mix things up. The service was great, our server was friendly, and knew the long list of specials very well. The ambiance left a bit to be desired as the music was abnormally loud and the speakers frequently shifted in volume. The music was a techno spin on 80s which doesn't quite fit with the cabin aesthetic. We ordered 4 appetizers and steaks. The appetizers are very pricey but not out of place for either the type of establishment or the neighborhood. All of the food we ordered was great! The only improvement suggested would be with regard to the ambiance. A couple of upgrades could be used there. However, overall this is a fantastic local place! read more

Food and Service was very good . However I have to say .. just because Ken Stewart has well water I can't say it was appreciated to pay $25 in 3bottles of water . We had wine and feel that for a whole bottle of water that costs maybe .25 at Costco per customer they should offer that in lieu of $8 per bottle x3!! We as a family like water . We made a last minute reservation for our party of four and I am so glad we chose the Lodge. Our server, Alex, was incredible. His service was impeccable and his recommendations were spot on. We ordered a combination of menu items and off menu specials. Two in our party got the Beef Wellington special and loved it. I got the Sacchetti pasta and added grilled chicken per Alex's suggestion and it was delicious. I took some home and it was still amazing reheated the next day for lunch. The peach burrata appetizer wasn't my favorite, as the peaches I had were tough. But, peaches can be finicky like that. Overall, we had a great time and I highly recommend checking it out. read more

It was unbelievable as one pepper was tame and the other one was a towering inferno!! Just beware but exceptional. We followed this with salads. The insalata Mista salad was amazing. It had hearts of palm, tomatoes, avocado, asparagus and shaved Parmesan in a lemon vinaigrette dressing. It was Sharable and very good. Spot on with my lobster with the drawn butter. The rest of the table had steaks. Cooked per requested. We all shared the potato au gratin and garlic mashed along with the asparagus. We ordered 3 sides which was plenty for 4 people. I am sad to say that I was so disappointed at the service waiting over 2 1/2 hours for my appetizer and dinner to come and our food was lukewarm. This establishment has truly truly gone downhill. I had one of the specials, which was a bone-in filet. It was the most flavorful steak I have ever had - perfectly seasoned and cooked medium rare to perfection! Another visit after many years since the last We were at the Grille this spring and decided to give the Lodge a go Service is too notch. Ambiance traditional steakhouse vibe. But I like the various rooms to make it more intimate feeling. We ordered three apps, lobster deviled eggs, Brie and sauerkraut balls. The Brie was the favorite. I wished the eggs had more pizzazz French onion soup. Ahhhmazing. Get it every time. We had scallops, filet trio and scallops and a filet. The food was delicious. Not sure $10/scallop was warranted, they are good but. The filet trio was delightful. Perfectly petite portions and such a fun way to taste them all We had a temperature issue twice with the filet entree which was surprising for KS. We were impressed with how it was handled. So...where do I start... The shredded phyllo wrapped shrimp were tasty and delicious. That is two different positive adjectives. The salads that accompany your meal are a frisée green tossed with 3 almonds and that's it. A .20 salad...perhaps a veg or two dancing among the greens is too much? The stuffed peppers are exactly two small, slim or young peppers. Nice flavor but the sauce, marinara, whatever it was, tasted like Heinz ketchup. So we are now, positive-negative-positive, so you know what is next... Terribly overpriced in a nutshell. When you order 3 three oz filets and 3scallops, you most certainly expect them to be cooked to perfection at $60. Nope, burnt and well done when asked for medium. In their defense, this atrocity was brought to their attention and they immediately replaced the entire order, but my question is... why did the Chef even send them out? Big, huge, mammoth Fail. Let's end on a positive note, they surprised us with an apologize gift which was appreciated. I am not a fan, but my friend is, so he will likely return . Me...hmmm jury is still out. read more

If you are coming here, it's because it's the only game in town , you don't know any better and/or you're thinking about gas prices. This was our first experience at Ken Stewart's restaurant...at the lodge. We had a 5:45, on the patio, reservation. So excited! We heard so many exceptional reviews. It was my husband's birthday dinner and a surprise for him...he did not know where we were taking him. Our greeting was inviting and professional. Our Server was friendly; and then forgot us. At first, he greeted and served us our water; took our cocktail and appetizer order, then our dinner orders...everything was wonderful... until then. We wanted/needed more water and another cocktail, but we felt we were "ghosted." It was difficult to say how long it took to see him again, but we notice the people around us were being service. In the end, we agreed, he had one table too many...and we were the one table. That being said, the food was excellent. We will be back, but I don't think we will be sitting on the patio. Please be aware, don't be shy, like we were, about speaking up, if you see your special family occasion going sideways. read more

10/10 experience here from start to finish. We did not have reservations and went on a Friday night around 6 and were worried about getting a seat. However, we were pleasantly surprised that there was an open table in their wine room. There is a stand-alone table in their private wine room, which is enclosed with glass walls. We loved having the private room! The servers occasionally came in to grab a bottle of wine, which didn't bother us. Our server, Chris, was amazing! Super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered a blueberry mojito, which is not on the menu but they made with my request. It was so good! For an appetizer, we got the fried pickles. The fried pickles come topped with Parmesan and come with a side (chipotle?) sauce. The sauce was a little too smoky for my liking, but I loved the fried pickles. For my meal, I got the au gratin potatoes and wedge salad. The wedge salad comes topped with crumbled hard boiled egg and bacon. Their white french dressing is amazing! There was a little bit too much on the salad itself- next time I will get it on the side. The au gratin potatoes were ok but not my personal favorite.The two other people in my party got the field greens salad and mashed potatoes, and the lodge burger. I tried the mashed potatoes and I liked them better than the au gratin potatoes! A tip when ordering the burger- ask to add crispy onions on top- so good! So I normally try to post only positive things. My husband took me to dinner for our anniversary tonight. I was looking so forward to it. We have never had a bad experience. Until today. I ordered my steak blue and it came out charred burnt. I took a bite and it tasted like charcoal. I politely told the waiter who promptly took it back. The manager brought it back and told me to cut into it. I explained I did. She got very nasty with me about every steak being charbroiled. I politely told her that I didn't like it. She rolled her eyes and told me to take the scallops. I declined so I could have all my food together. She stormed into the kitchen. When she came back out she stopped by and again told me that all steaks are charbroiled. I apologized for making her angry. She again told me the steaks were all charbroiled. On top of it all, they brought me out the same scallops that were cold. I was afraid to say anything, but that is gross. The waiter was awesome, but I couldn't believe the treatment from a manager. The service is still good, but the food is average. I had the crab cake appetizer- one, very pureed crab meat, over $20. I had the fame dish at Fleming so a couple weeks later - two crab cakes with big chunks of crab for the same price. Much better. Having said that - service is always good. read more

Visited Ken Stewart's Lodge for our anniversary dinner. The service was excellent! Sandy was our server and she was very attentive, friendly and detail-oriented. Sandy also did an excellent job making our table side Caesar salad. The food was delicious! It's freshly prepared so allow a few extra minutes. Was impressed with the seafood tower! The shrimp was HUGE! All of the shellfish was super fresh and prepared well. Since it was our anniversary, when the desserts came to the table, a sparkler was in the angel food cake. So much fun. There are only a couple reasons I gave four stars instead of five. 1. We ordered the Caesar salad so was hoping to substitute the salads that came with our entrees for something else and we couldn't. Ended up bringing the side salads home. 2. I was hoping the scallop dinner would of had one or two more scallops. While the scallops were a good size, there were four. This is an outstanding choice for high-end dining. While it is a bit pricey, it is definitely worth every penny.

The food is average at best and I could honestly tolerate some of it, however paying a credit card fee in a high priced dining experience is tacky. It's likely the owners don't care since the place is jam packed, but I'll go elsewhere next take and save my 3% read more
