I was able to get scheduled in three days. It was my first experience with dean. I loved the PA that I saw. Her name was Meghan and she was funny, understanding and very helpful. Only thing they can work on is the pharmacy. It takes too long. I waited over 20 min. Pharmacy needs a lot of work. Medications say they will be ready and aren't. Dean has been part of my family since I was a baby. My mom took me to Dean Fish Hatchery for many many years. Now that I've grown older and moved to Middleton I visit the Dean West Clinic. This is a nice facility with adequate parking. You'll find 3 floors with departments like Optometry, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine etc. This location also has a pharmacy and Davis Duehr Dean eye store. The physicians here have always been top notch. Appointments are easy to make. Appointments usually start on or around the original start time. Overall this facility is as good as the physicians staffing it. read more

I have several doctors in the Dean health system and have never had any problems. I have a internal medicine doctor there along with several specialists. I have been very impressed with all the staff that have done various procedures, lab technicians, MRI technicians, nursing staff and office staff. All have been very nice and friendly. I have had no problem with making appointments if it is short notice I may have to see someone else but that is going to be at any clinic. They have run all needed tests and been very available when I needed something. The one thing that really sticks out in my mind is that most the time when I call to speak to a nurse, even the nurse of a specialist I get put on hold and usually the nurse comes on the line. If not they call back very rapidly. I would highly recommend Dean Clinic to anyone who is looking for medical professionals. read more

This place is the WORST. Dean in general sucks. By all means, try and get a job with P Plus or Unity, or work for a company based outside of Madison so you can have Blue Cross or Humana or UnitedHealthCare or something accepted by the UW. I had an eye appointment a week and half ago and need my pupilary distance measured. They gave me a measurement in liters. So I called back. My eye doctor only works 1 day per week and no one else would talk to me. I missed his call a week later, leaving me a message that my two eyes are actually 7 mm apart, therefore making me like a one-eyed monster or a cyclops. So I call back today, and am told of course that the doctor only works on Fridays and none of the other doctors or nurses will help me or my new condition of having just one eyeball. So it'll be over 2 weeks until they can attempt to tell me if I do in fact have 2 eyeballs, and if so how far apart my pupils are. HORRIBLE. And I now use this clinic for our children and you basically never get to see your own pediatrician because they all have tooooo many patients. And many doctors aren't even accepting new patients. And they overcharged me for my copays and it was like performing brain surgery to get my $10 overpayment refunded. The worst. read more

I went in for preliminary memory testing, which involved an hour or so of answering a verbal quiz & doing a couple of tests on their computer. No labs...A bit of time talking to their 'specialist' Dr Williamson, some of which was his idle chit chat. Around an hour or so, total. My portion of the bill AFTER my insurance paid was well over 600.00!!! Before insurance was almost 1900.00 and again, NO LABS! A bloody rip off! read more

I haven't had insurance the last two years and finally have been able to afford to have heath care with Dean Insurance. I went in on Tuesday, January 7th to be checked for strep and other things regarding my throat and lungs. This was my first time coming to the West Clinic because my regular doctor is at the East Clinic. I went into urgent care and was seen within 5 minutes which was nice. The doctor and everything else was fine until I had left and had realized I have left my glasses in the room. I called the facility after I picked up my medication from Walgreens and at the time I barely had a voice but I talked a receptionist who asked my last name and said to me " Yes, you have left them behind in the room." They asked me to confirm the brand which I did and they said they would hold them upfront at the desk for me. I mentioned I wouldn't make it in that day because I was so ill. I was seen the next day at the west clinic because I wasn't better and had missed work Monday - Thursday. I called Thursday to let them know I would be coming in to get them and I was transferred around and around to find out they had LOST MY GLASSES OR SOMEONE HAS TAKEN THEM. I am 24 years old and was very ill when I came to be seen at my "health care provider" and it is really unprofessional and pathetic of the company that they have had an employee take my glasses(only for distance) or had given them out. The WORST part about the whole situation is I had to call back when they said they would call me back and I was treated like I had no idea what I was talking about. I gave them the time I called back and the length of time I was on the phone as well as I have a text to my co worker earlier Tuesday asking if my glasses were at work and then texted her after I had hung up with Dean care and I said back to her " never mind dean has them at the desk" but I was told all of that was irrelevant because I couldn't remember the woman's named I called and talked to originally. I could kick myself for not asking the name of the woman that had helped me but I was very ill and like I said I went back in to the east clinic Wednesday morning with difficulties breathing so I was extremely ill. For being a clinic that is a health provider and to take care of people when they are ill, I experienced everything but that. It is hard for me to let this situation go because I KNOW they have them or had them because they had me describe and match the brand and they told me yes they are here. The other part that was unprofessional is the fact they wouldn't take the time to look at who was on staff when I called and talk with them to find them. They were $160 and I can not afford to re purchase them being 24 and on my own. I WOULD NEVER SUGGEST THIS PLACE TO ANYONE AND I WISH MY WORK CARRIED A DIFFERENT PROVIDER BECAUSE I WILL NEVER EVER RETURN TO THE WEST CLINIC AFTER HAVING MY THINGS SUDDENLY DISAPPEAR AND TO BE TREATED THE WAY I HAVE BEEN. I called to set up an appointment for a physical with my provider because they would not renew my prescription for X. The clinic then called me and made me reschedule my appointment- TWICE- due to the doctor "not being available". The secretary assured me that since it was *their* fault I would have to reschedule they would refill it. All I had to do according to her was to leave a message explaining the situation with the nurses in Family Medicine. I asked about seeing another doctor even- I knew my prescription would not last that long. The secretary connected me to the nurse message line or whatever you call it. I left my message. The nurse said that the doctor had to see me and that *I* had rescheduled too many times. I can't believe how disorganized and plainly offensive I find this malarky. I kindly told her that I had not rescheduled those appointments, but had been forced to by the office! I told her I run out of my prescription well before the "next available" appointment. This occurred on one of the days I was originally scheduled. The nurse said she was going to talk to Dr. X.. wait. WHAT THE FRANKFURTER! The doctor is there today? I was told she was unavailable today. I can't believe this. So either they were lying when they made me reschedule, or there is some serious miscommunication within the clinic.They finally called me back and let me know the doctor would renew. So ridiculous. No apology for the multiple reschedules or hack communication within their clinic. The medicine was topical and not even a "serious" drug. This wasn't warfarin, hormones or a narcotic. I have been a patient here for years, and usually have no complaints about service or wait time. Not crazy about their urgent care doctors assessment skills, but rarely use UC. I really have no choice but to go here, but I wonder if the SSM/Dean merger has something to do with it. Because they are taking the "care" out of Dean Health Care after all. Was 15 minutes late for an appointment and was turned away. I can't even count how many times I've waited on doctors before there and now that it was the other way around, they wouldn't see me. Living 2 hours away and going to college makes it a lot more difficult to schedule appointments as well. So thank you, Dean Clinic. read more
