Wide selection of Wagyu beef, lobster, king crab, price points are what is expected, but the ambience is very nice with service being impeccable while the menu has explained. My guest ordered the flat iron steak, which was surprisingly very good and a very good price point, I opted for the petite fillet was a little disappointed. It was tough, ordered rare to medium rare came out, medium, but added the truffle, Bernaise sauce and mushrooms, and was quite tasty. Asparagus spears were plentiful and very large but a great side. Lobster bisque was rich with bits of lobster and a shot of cognac. And just what I would expect. All in all excellent evening, great service, good food good experience. Highly recommend.!! read more

I'm updating my review. I gave Deans another try. No steak... totally turned off on that. My waitress, Shearyl, was amazing. I was so happy to have her as my waitress again. Very wise lady, listen to her. I've updated my score not necessarily on the food, but on the eloquent customer service from Jacob( I think I have his name correct). Sorry if I don't. I expressed the huge disappointment regarding the Prime ribeye the night before and he was truly alarmed to hear it. He quickly took care of that evening's entree. No buts about it. He also assured me that my experience would be shared with the chef and staff. Unfortunately, what I really wanted to try got sold out, so I tried the bass. I will say the cauliflower jus was superb. A spoon is recommended. It is so delicate however, its deliciousness got lost when with the porkbelly and onions. Did I mention ask for a spoon?? There were bright spots and unfortunately the main attractions of the plates weren't even though they were cooked well. Interesting experience. The staff outweighed the food here. I stay at the JW a lot for work, so Dean's gets plenty of chances. I want to love it--it's one of only two restaurants in the hotel, and thankfully it's going on the company card. It's the kind of place with gorgeous décor, servers scraping crumbs off the table with those fancy metal tools... and sides that still cost extra. The experience says "special occasion." The food says, "pretty good." I keep waiting for that close-your-eyes-on-the-first-bite moment, and it just hasn't happened. It reminds me of Del Frisco's, just without the same level of "wow." My husband and I are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and decided to give Dean's a try. During the call to confirm our reservation I asked the manager if we could be seated in a booth instead of a table. He told me he would try hard to accommodate but could not make any promises. When we arrived there was free valet parking for patrons if the restaurant, which is a perk. I loved the entrance with the red carpet and signage. They were able to accommodate us and sat us in a beautiful booth where we could sit close to each other but also people watch, which we loved. The ambiance was romantic with low lights, which at times made it hard to read the menus but we enjoyed the romantic feel of the restaurant yet it could also be casual amongst friends. For an appetizer we ordered the jumbo crab cake.. it was well cooked and was not fishy tasting. I ordered a strawberry lemon drop and my husband got the signature old fashioned. Follow the drinks we're good however the lemon drop seemed a bit overly sweet. The bread was warm and soft in the middle. We both or does the petite steak medium well. I also ordered the mashed potatoes. The states were good but I will say that I have had better but overall it was a really good steak and cooked right. The mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful. I got to attend a *very* fancy dinner at Dean's Steak & Seafood in Indianapolis last month, and the experience was superb! The table started the meal with the Seafood Plateau - two levels of chilled seafood, with gigantic shrimp, alaskan king crab legs, raw oysters, lobster cocktail, with a dry ice presentation, of course. Fantastic - tender and sweet shrimp and crab legs, and briny oysters with bright cocktail sauce. I had the filet and shared sides of gigantic onion rings and sauteed mushrooms with the table. The filet was cooked really nice, and well-seasoned, and the mushrooms added an earthy flavor to the meal. And of course, the huge onion rings were a crispy delight. Big fan of this place! The vibe is dark, moody, and has a definite speakeasy feel. Floor to ceiling red velvet drapery really pulls the whole look together. I ordered the barrel cut filet mignon and it was outstanding. Amazing flavor and cooked to perfection. My fiance got the NY strip which was just as delicious! After chatting with our awesome server DJ, we chose the grilled broccoli (9/10) and potatoes au gratin. Very good. Everything we tried was incredibly tasty, making for a fantastic evening. I had a great time dining at Dean's with friends. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knew the menu well. It's conveniently located inside the JW Marriott, and the complimentary valet is a big plus--I wouldn't have known where to park otherwise. We ordered several appetizers. The standout for me was the crab cake--plenty of plump, well-seasoned crab meat. The bread was a bit on the salty side, so just a heads-up. The Madagascar shrimp seemed slightly overcooked, but the escargot-style dish was delicious and something I would definitely order again. The Oysters Rockefeller are very spinach-forward--perfect for spinach lovers. The lobster bisque had good flavor but was surprisingly thin, almost watery. For my entrée, I had the Dean's-style steak. It was slightly overcooked for a requested medium, but still tasted good. Pricing is on the higher end, which is expected for a restaurant inside the JW. The space has a beautiful Roaring '20s-inspired design and a lively atmosphere. The music is loud, so conversation gets loud too--better for a fun group outing than a quiet date night. My husband and I like the JW Marriott, so the addition of Dean's is much welcomed! We decided to go down for one of their last available evening seatings and enjoyed a great meal. Unfortunately, they were out of their bread (one of the perils of last seatings), but we ended up with plenty of amazing things that more than made up for it. The fresh oysters were amazing, and the steak was great. It was a dry-aged strip and as good as what we would normally enjoy at St. Elmo's or Ruth's Chris. The key lime pie though...that really put it over the top! It was one of the best I've ever had, even compared to some fantastic Florida pie memories. Our server, Katie, was amazing and I hope to be lucky enough to be at her table in the future! She even showed us the private room at the end, and it's gorgeous. They said they are out of the 8oz and that they only had 10oz and we'd have to pay an upcharge for them. This was about 9pm sat, 8th day of being open. We really wanted the filets but didn't want to pay extra because its not our fault they are out and they r already over $80. They came back and said they would not charge extra for it. Great. Our steaks came out over done but still edible. They comped the dessert for us because of this. We also ordered another round of drinks and a glass of wine. The baked Alaska is a great dessert imo. My wife and I visited Deans this past Sunday. I had the Honey Truffle Chicken, and it was probably the worst meal I have had in years. The chicken was dry and tasteless. When you walk in, it's dim lighting and very well decorated. They had a raw bar you could sit at on top of an actual bar at the front. We were greeted by very friendly staff. They were helpful and with quick service. Very polite. The music was a vibe all night and they had this back room that seats like 50 people at this big long table. You can hire a personal bartender for your events and it's completely tucked away from everyone else. The tables have these little touch lights where you can control your own tone of lighting. The food was delicious. Hats off to the chefs. Everyone at the table ordered something different and it all looked good. My dad ordered crab cakes to start off with and it was amazing. My sister ordered the lobster bisque and it hit the spot. The flavor was amazing. It was smooth and silky. For my starter I got the oyster rockerfeller and those were to die for. Now for my entree I got the Salmon Welllington and it came with asparagus on the bottom with a green yogurt sauce. On the inside it hade the salmon and spinach all wrapped in a puff pastry. While our server was kind and attentive, he started the interaction with a lengthy nearly 3 or 4 minute speech detailing nearly everything on the menu. The rehearsed speech should he ditched by their team and trainers immediately. After that the food just didnt live up to the price in any way. The wedge salad was somehow void of blue cheese and we had to ask for extra dressing. The lobster bisque was a highlight of the meal. Salmon wellington was dry and mostly flavorless, this was such a disappointment because I'd recently had this dish at another restaurant and it was fantastic. This place represents the sheer pinnacle of customer service in the restaurant industry! Whomever has trained this staff needs to go into consulting for other restaurants and train their staffs accordingly! We are in town for the football game and decided to stay in the hotel for dining options this evening and we are grateful that we did! We happened to mention this to our server, Damani, who was an absolute rock star and went above and beyond to make it right! He ensured that a new one was fired for us, and then comped dessert also! This server knows about customer service, and it was just humbling how he took care of us! My wife had the BCR Wagyu House Specialty, and it was amazing!! The red wine jus was cooked to perfection, offering a perfect accompaniment to her meat!, without the unnecessary alcohol flavor that is often overabundant in many other restaurant offerings. Having ordered the whipped Yukon potatoes, it also offered a great cut to the richness's of the potatoes in a wonderfully harmonious fashion. I ordered a surf and turf with a ribeye and crab cake. The seasoning crust on the ribeye was flavorful that was a perfect casing to the mid-rare flesh of my steak. The accompanying crab cake honored the crab in a way that few places outside of the coast have mastered. This was an incredible experience for us! The issue we sat at the bar there was some issue with the sink that sprayed water all over the bar, in our drinks and clothes. Our waitress Rachel promptly made us more drinks. We ordered our food at 5:30 and at 6:15 after realizing people that came in and ordered after we did had received their food and were eating I asked Rachel does it always take this long. She went to check and promised our food was coming straight away. It arrived at 6:30. Not one time did any member of management apologize or even address the water situation or the hour long wait for our food. It was plenty members of management all over the place. We paid for our food, Rachel comp'd our drinks because of the water fiasco but it all should have been comp'd.
