After chatting with our awesome server DJ, we chose the grilled broccoli (9/10) and potatoes au gratin. Very good. Everything we tried was incredibly tasty, making for a fantastic evening. I got a chance to dine at Dean's for a good friend's birthday. This was my first visit and the service and ambiance alone exceeded my expectations. The staff were so attentive and helpful. They made sure we all had a great experience. I ended up getting the bass and it was very yummy. It was perfectly cooked with crispy skin. I could also tell that it was fresh. I had a great time dining at Dean's with friends. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knew the menu well. It's conveniently located inside the JW Marriott, and the complimentary valet is a big plus--I wouldn't have known where to park otherwise. We ordered several appetizers. The standout for me was the crab cake--plenty of plump, well-seasoned crab meat. The bread was a bit on the salty side, so just a heads-up. The Madagascar shrimp seemed slightly overcooked, but the escargot-style dish was delicious and something I would definitely order again. The Oysters Rockefeller are very spinach-forward--perfect for spinach lovers. The lobster bisque had good flavor but was surprisingly thin, almost watery. For my entrée, I had the Dean's-style steak. It was slightly overcooked for a requested medium, but still tasted good. Pricing is on the higher end, which is expected for a restaurant inside the JW. The space has a beautiful Roaring '20s-inspired design and a lively atmosphere. The music is loud, so conversation gets loud too--better for a fun group outing than a quiet date night. Overall, there are some clear areas for improvement, but I'm hopeful those will come as the restaurant gains more experience. I'd definitely return to see how they continue to evolve. read more

Pro tip if you're going to a Colts game: park here, go to the game, then come back for dinner and grab your car after. Free valet and zero stress. The cocktails were great. I ordered the spritz, but I'd recommend the espresso martini if you're choosing. We started with the crab cake, Caesar salad, and the complimentary bread which was hands down the best bread I've ever had. For dinner, we ordered & split the Wagyu, lobster mac, au gratin potatoes, and the table-side baked Alaska. Everything was incredible, especially the steak and lobster mac. Next time I'd skip the au gratin and swap for the whipped potatoes...just personal preference. Now for the real MVP: Deirdre. She was phenomenal. Knowledgeable, incredibly kind, attentive without being overbearing, and truly elevated the entire experience. Last night my family and I got to try the new restaurant that opened not too long ago and it was an experience. Now I will say make sure you go with some money honey but I will definitely be back. When you walk in, it's dim lighting and very well decorated. They had a raw bar you could sit at on top of an actual bar at the front. We were greeted by very friendly staff. They were helpful and with quick service. Very polite. The music was a vibe all night and they had this back room that seats like 50 people at this big long table. You can hire a personal bartender for your events and it's completely tucked away from everyone else. The tables have these little touch lights where you can control your own tone of lighting. The food was delicious. Hats off to the chefs. Everyone at the table ordered something different and it all looked good. My dad ordered crab cakes to start off with and it was amazing. My sister ordered the lobster bisque and it hit the spot. The flavor was amazing. It was smooth and silky. For my starter I got the oyster rockerfeller and those were to die for. Now for my entree I got the Salmon Welllington and it came with asparagus on the bottom with a green yogurt sauce. On the inside it hade the salmon and spinach all wrapped in a puff pastry. Great service! Free valet. Beautiful inside. I really liked the host! She was so kind and sweet. She kept checking in on us. Very intimate. Our server diedra was great too. Since we were a few minutes early we got a drink at the bar before being seated. $37 for 2 whiskeys on the rocks. The bread is delicious with that butter! Had some west coast oysters to start. The sauces came in a unique dropper that was nice and less messy than a spoon. Now for our steaks, we ordered the repeal and deans style 8oz filets. They said they are out of the 8oz and that they only had 10oz and we'd have to pay an upcharge for them. This was about 9pm sat, 8th day of being open. We really wanted the filets but didn't want to pay extra because its not our fault they are out and they r already over $80. They came back and said they would not charge extra for it. Great. Our steaks came out over done but still edible. They comped the dessert for us because of this. We also ordered another round of drinks and a glass of wine. The baked Alaska is a great dessert imo. The presentation is cool too. I can never find it anywhere so I had to get it. The bread pudding was also good but I'm really glad I got the baked alaska. After all this our bill was $300. read more

The restaurant within the JW is gorgeous. The mood is dark, elegant, and cozy. That was mostly where the success ends. While our server was kind and attentive, he started the interaction with a lengthy nearly 3 or 4 minute speech detailing nearly everything on the menu. The rehearsed speech should he ditched by their team and trainers immediately. After that the food just didnt live up to the price in any way. The wedge salad was somehow void of blue cheese and we had to ask for extra dressing. The lobster bisque was a highlight of the meal. Salmon wellington was dry and mostly flavorless, this was such a disappointment because I'd recently had this dish at another restaurant and it was fantastic. The chicken was also dry and the lobster mac and cheese was incredibly salty. Overall, I wanted this to be so good, especially with the high price tag, but it misses the mark. read more

Amazing service, they exceeded expectations. The place had low, purposeful lighting, very classy - could be romantic with the right person. When my group went they had just opened a few weeks ago. But the reason for my low review was the food was really bad. They are priced for fine dining and meet the expectations with service and ambiance - but the meats were well overcooked and the salad tasted off (was hard to tell if it was the dressing or the quality of ingredients). The waiter was very kind and took the chicken dish off our bill as it was too rubbery to eat and offered us some free deserts. We were grateful but the deserts were inedible as well. Usually give some grace to new spots but for the prices and vision they crafted, the chefs should have already been trained. We chose Deans for our Valentines Day dinner. The food was exceptional except for the oysters, they were too small and had more spinach than oyster. The steaks, salad and sides were amazing. The issue we sat at the bar there was some issue with the sink that sprayed water all over the bar, in our drinks and clothes. Our waitress Rachel promptly made us more drinks. We ordered our food at 5:30 and at 6:15 after realizing people that came in and ordered after we did had received their food and were eating I asked Rachel does it always take this long. She went to check and promised our food was coming straight away. It arrived at 6:30. Not one time did any member of management apologize or even address the water situation or the hour long wait for our food. It was plenty members of management all over the place. We paid for our food, Rachel comp'd our drinks because of the water fiasco but it all should have been comp'd. At restaurant of that caliber you expect a high level of service and they definitely missed the mark. read more

This place represents the sheer pinnacle of customer service in the restaurant industry! Whomever has trained this staff needs to go into consulting for other restaurants and train their staffs accordingly! We are in town for the football game and decided to stay in the hotel for dining options this evening and we are grateful that we did! We were unaware that this restaurant is so new, because the staff makes it seem like it's such a well-oiled machine already! This has a very speakeasy ambiance that takes you away from the bustle of the hotel outside of the restaurant. I would personally like to see the music toned down a little, but that's personal preference there. We ordered the Madagascar Shrimp and it was slightly overdone the first time, but still delicious. We happened to mention this to our server, Damani, who was an absolute rock star and went above and beyond to make it right! He ensured that a new one was fired for us, and then comped dessert also! This server knows about customer service, and it was just humbling how he took care of us! My wife had the BCR Wagyu House Specialty, and it was amazing!! The red wine jus was cooked to perfection, offering a perfect accompaniment to her meat!, without the unnecessary alcohol flavor that is often overabundant in many other restaurant offerings. Having ordered the whipped Yukon potatoes, it also offered a great cut to the richness's of the potatoes in a wonderfully harmonious fashion. I ordered a surf and turf with a ribeye and crab cake. The seasoning crust on the ribeye was flavorful that was a perfect casing to the mid-rare flesh of my steak. The accompanying crab cake honored the crab in a way that few places outside of the coast have mastered. This was an incredible experience for us! Dean's is definitely our new favorite in Indy! It seems like there are currently a lot of Steak Houses in Indy, but you have to try Dean's! The beautiful ambience and the warm friendly atmosphere greet you the minute you arrive. Although Dean's is a steak house, their seafood certainly should get equal billing. We were surprised by the fabulous raw bar...very nice east and west coast oyster selection. Our server was very well versed and knowledgeable of the menu. We had a hard time selecting an appetizer, as everything looked good, but settled on Oysters Rockefeller, which were surprising bright and light. The lobster bisque was flavorful and not too heavy. The Dean's style filet was tasty and perfectly prepared (definitely highly recommended) and with Creamed Spinach as a side, we were quite happy. Desserts will not disappoint...lots to pick from. We enjoyed the cheesecake with blueberry topping. And the house made rolls are worth every bite!
