What could be improved? EVERYTHING!! The dirty little hole in the wall should be condemned. If zero stars was possible, this would get it. I need to warn travelers. This is NOT a cute boutique inn. It's filthy, its tiny it's noisy and it feels unsafe because the door wouldn't shut. There is no electrical outlet or countertop in the 3x 5 ft bathroom. The toilet is about 8 inches from the wall in FRONT of it so you need to sit sideways! I'm not a big person, I can't imagine how a person with any physical limitations would use it. The "kitchen" is a full refrigerator shoved in so tightly that you have to move the trash can to open the door. There is no closet to hang clothing, just a rocky old dresser with drawers that won't open. The bed was so broken down it was like a waterbed. The outdoor area is old picnic tables with jars of cigarette butts in them. We were awake untilwb 2 a.m. because the walls are super thin and the picnic tables outside are next to the windows. People sitting outside to smoke and talk might as well be in the room. The staff is either out of the office or just useless. Don't bother complaining. They will tell you it's an old building and nothing can be done. We left after the first miserable night when they told us the only available room would be an up charge of $200 for 4 nights. Then they changed the amount to $800 additional making that roach motel almost $400 per night. When we told the woman at the front desk we would be leaving, she told us we couldn't leave because we had signed an agreement! She offered to lower the upcharge to $500 and said if we didn't pay take the "deal" we would still be charged the entire amount. We walked down the street and found a beautiful Airbnb for less the cost. We can see the beach from the door step. It has free laundry on site, 2 full bathrooms with usable fixtures, walk in showers, a full kitchen, 2 60" inch flat screen t.v.s, security cameras, picnic area and grill and a door that actually closes and locks! read more

I chose this inn because it's only a $16 Lyft ride from the airport and literally 50 feet to the Hollywood Beach boardwalk and beach. The room was clean, cute, and had everything I needed. They have a cute courtyard with tables and I met some fun people to enjoy cocktails and laugh with. It's walking distance to great restaurants on and off the boardwalk and I felt very safe being a solo traveler. They also offer free bikes to use if you're so inclined. I just wanted to eat, drink, and celebrate my birthday so that was outta the question. I think I paid $130 a night which again, the beach was what I wanted. And Margaritaville Hotel was right next door which I happily took advantage of. If you're not planning on renting a car and you want to stay on the beach, this cute place will not disappoint. read more

We are not tourists, our home is less than 30 minutes away. We have family in and wanted to get out and enjoy ourselves and not be bothered with driving all day...so we found this place and decided to stay... This little gem is located in the heart of things along the Hollywood Broadwalk. The room was clean and fresh although dated and a little rough around the edges, we were not bothered by either. The staff were friendly, helpful and oddly enough, one of the employees happened to be from the same small East Texas town my wife was born and raised in. Steps from the beach (literally) and the broadwalk. Everything you could possible want in a day out. Great food, live music, strong beverages and much much more! We loved the area and the hotel! This hotel was listed in Expedia with a 8.0 rating. From arrival we had nowhere to park because this hotel does not have parking so my husband waited in the car on a side street while I walked down to hotel for check in. Upon entering the office space for check in they had cats in full hunt mode of something in the office. I proceeded to ask the clerk why is the information different from when you book through Expedia. She was extremely rude and argumentative with me for asking questions that was in need to be asked, the pictures they showed through the Expedia site for their business was different upon arrival. The parking they said was across the street from hotel, it was 4 blocks over and the other parking was margaritaville parking that was 43 dollars to park inside and 60 for valet.. The room was below basic and the bathroom toilet was so close to wall almost touching my knees, the bathroom door would not close, the bed sheets were stained and the pillow cases as well. They had cleaning utensils inside luggage closet. They had a hazardous wall plug with a lot plugged in, the ac/heat worked sparingly, the television volume was so low and the remote could not turn the tv up/down at all. By the way the office had a closed sign on the door before 9 pm. We contacted the office through the Expedia site they said we could not cancel or get our money back, we contacted Expedia and we told them the issues and that we would never book with them again. This was very time consuming and stressful having to sit on the side of road trying to figure out parking at night not knowing the area. This is an older place and there will be times no one is in office. The showers are small and parking is a bit challenging, so this may not be for you. As for us, it was great! Quick walk to beach! Affordable and great staff, they even upgraded my room! Housekeeping was great to us. I LOVE MAURICE THE KITTY! Chairs and beach towels at the ready! Nice area outside to smoke or have food & drinks, too. Came on my birthday with a friend and to honor the life of Mr. Jimmy Buffett at Margaritaville. You can walk right on over and there is a huge boardwalk with great eats everywhere! Le Tub burgers, Capone's, Nick's, Peruvian food, etc. Our weather was horrendous but Denise and Kenny and Andrew made our stay super pleasant, the ladies even gave me cake! I CHALLENGE YOU TO JUST TRY CALLING THIS CRAP HOLE, they don't even have the decency to answer your call. Here's what we experienced during our stay. This place might as well be an extension of Margaritaville's dumpster pick up and drop off station because your rooms will literally face their smelly disgusting dumpsters. 1. Broken toilet seat. 2. Missing showerhead found it behind the sink because it blew off. 3. AC filter caked with dust, hair and mold. 4. the bathroom is so small your knees touch the wall. When you sit on the toilet, we were forced to go down the street and use the public restroom. 5. There was a how should I say, lady of the night working out of her room with random men coming and going from dust till Dawn. Rooms had a really good rate for the day so we jumped on. Let's have a day trip and spend the night in Hollywood beach! Sounded like a good idea until we actually got here. Booked at around 11 by 2 we were already in Hollywood Beach. Which leads me to my list of my gripes about this hotel That you should definitely know before you go! 1-They don't have private parking. I called several times on the phone to see about parking and where to pull into to unload. 2- Check in office was closed with sign they would be back. There is nowhere to pull in and unload in this motel without blocking the street. So we decided to momentarily park in the Private Parking lot directly behind them. Emphasize on Private. They make up their own rules and if you do not display your ticket on the windshield, within 20 minutes you will have a boot in your car. They have mafiosos scouting the lot and reporting back. Ok this has nothing to do with the hotel but there is absolutely no city parking around available. 3-The hotel sells you a $20 per night city pass and for the lot 4 blocks away. This is terrible with elderly. OR just pay $30 for margaritaville garage across the street. Closest parking lot. The room was an efficiency. Decent no bugs thank God like in other pictures and it was recently renovated so didn't feel super dirty. But definitely outdated and small and would not recommend paying anything more than $70 a night. 4-They charge $8.50 for a resort fee. Why? I don't know because there is no pool and no BBQ. All of the pics with the BBQ or mentions are outdated. They took them away. We had bought all these groceries for the BBQ and couldn't even enjoy. 1 star for location and the other for the bikes on the property that we rode up and down the boardwalk. The beds were clean and comfy That being said the rooms are very small the bathroom door would not open all the way because it hit the bed. I'm not even checked in yet, but so far this is among the top ten worst experiences of my life. I have waited in the office for check-in for over an hour. It's now 2:30 - 30 minutes past check-in time. I was told my room was being cleaned when I arrived at 1:00pm. When I asked if a one and a half hour cleaning time was typical I was told yes. That was clearly a lie. Update: this was saved in drafts - I still feel as strongly as the day I wrote this. I ended up waiting another 30 ish minutes for the room. The cleaning staff still needed to come back to do more work in the room. A semi skilled mason could have built the room from the ground up in a similar amount of time. read more

My sister and her employee were traveling for business and she was staying in the large beach-front hotel right next to St Maurice Inn. I flew in from Dallas to join her for a couple days, because I absolutely love the beach. Quick note about beaches - forget Miami Beach and stay at Hollywood Beach. Not worth the drive or the trouble. Hollywood Beach is amazing and so much cleaner and nicer. And less populated. Which is why my sister paid big bucks to stay right on the beach. But she didn't like her hotel, it was nothing special. Yet cost her a small fortune. I couldn't fit in the room with them, so I went looking for my own place. Literally right behind her hotel was a cute little inn called St Maurice. It was perfect and the people were so kind and helpful. It was just as nice as my sister's hotel, only more spacious and comfortable. Yes, the bathroom is small, but I'm here for the beach, not a soaking tub, so who cares? The room was large yet cozy, and very clean. I didn't see a spec of sand anywhere. It had super comfy beds, which are always appreciated. It was pretty hot outside, but the air conditioner worked great. I was so nervous about people being loud in the courtyard that night, but I heard nothing. Probably because it wasn't a weekend. I always try to avoid weekends when I travel. They even provide a grill outside, which is awesome if you want to cook your own food and eat in the courtyard. Now for the best part. The LOCATION. When you walk outside the Inn, you can see the beach. It's literally steps to the boardwalk. You don't have to cross a major street or anything, it's right there, calling your name with its salty breeze and beautiful waves. Margaritaville was next door and I walked over to spy. They're waaaay more expensive. Yes, they have a nice pool, but it was very loud and crowded. You get more for your money at St Maurice and that amazing beach is better than any pool (use sunscreen even if you tan like me, I got the sunburn of my life). Now my husband and I are planning a trip to Hollywood Beach, that's how much I loved that beach, its boardwalk, shops and restaurants. And we will be staying at St Maurice the entire time, that's for sure! read more

Great location! Private, clean, right off the beach, little motel. Staff were wonderful. We stayed in a standard room which was all my fiancé and I needed. We loved it so much, we extended our stay a night! We had to switch rooms because our room was going to be booked. They put us in an apartment style room and it was even better!!! They don't have a pool but the beach is right next to you and the water is so warm, it doesn't even matter. They have bikes you can use, we used them daily! Hollywood has a very bike friendly boardwalk. We will definitely be back. read more

We decided to rent at this hotel through booking.com very last minute. Upon arrival, even though the sign on the office door had open on it no one was there for 30 minutes. I continued to knock on the door and wave at the video cameras until finally a lady named Mercy appeared with her grandson and had a very bad attitude and did not explain the parking situation correctly. Even though they don't have their own parking, she told us that we could park in the parking garage right next to the building except it was the parking garage four blocks away and charged us $20 from 6 PM to 11 AM check out time when you have to turn in the parking pass. The parking lot behind this hotel belongs to another hotel and the gentleman that boots the cars for parking there illegally told us that it was OK to park there even though we were not staying at that hotel. Talk about a scam, if we would've left the car there it would have been booted by this gentleman. In addition, Mercy could not even tell us that the parking pass expired when we checked out and had to check with the manager, yet told her she had been working there for quite some time. Also, our room did not have any bath towels so I had to go back to the office to obtain the towels. There was no where to park to unload the car other than the one streets in front of the hotel which then blocks traffic. So you have to haul your luggage for four blocks from the parking garage that they charge you $20 for. Upon check out, I turned in the key as my friend went to get the car and the young lady behind the front desk just stared at me and didn't say a word. I asked her if I needed to sign anything or how would get my deposit back and at that point she said well I need the parking garage pass back. I don't understand the terrible customer service and why explanations are not given to guests properly. read more

Really cute clean hotel, located right near the beach. The staff was super nice and really accommodating. They allowed us to store our things. They offered us bikes, beach towels and chair rentals. The only thing I didn't like was getting shocked in the shower. I guess they were preforming electrical work in the next room. It would've been nice to get a heads up. Pros: Location is 5 stars. Rooms were basic and old but clean, we just slept in it didn't care about having lots of frills as we came for the beach. Beach chair and bicycle rental. Cons: Parking is $20 for a street pass or $80 for lot behind, we booked on Expedia and it did not list a parking fee. $8.50 extra fee for who knows what No pool Small bathroom, thankfully I am 5'4 but if you are tall toilet leg space and shower head height might become an issue. Overall if you want a place to sleep and be steps away from the beach and you don't want to spread a ton of money I would recommend this hotel. read more

Where do I begin? Checked in on July 18, 2018. Less then an hour later the water was turned off for repair. The whole night was very noisy as other guests decided to drink in the courtyard till almost 4am and it was hard to sleep with all the drunks right outside our door. The bathroom is a joke as if you are over 150 lbs or over 5'7" you can't fit on the toilet. This morning the 20th we woke up and found out that a few rooms across the courtyard had a flood and they again turned off the water so we couldn't brush our teeth or shower. PERFECT location right off the Broadwalk! Can walk in either direction on the 2 1/2 mile paver walkway along the wide beach. Main floor connected rooms in several buildings are OLD SCHOOL, but clean and so convenient! Our king bed was very comfy, with kitchenette, & small bathroom with shower. We didn't need any extras since we were there for the beach, broadwalk, etc.!! Very affordable but very basic with towels, beach umbrellas & bikes to use! Like any beach town, parking is at a premium, and you must pay extra to park in the deck, but get a pass at the front deck for discounted parking. Friendly staff, and yes, great price. No pool but we have one at home so no big deal! read more

Wow such a gem. A simple place filled with so much heart. No long walk, elevator, lobby to walk all your stuff through. It's like the beach is at your doorstep and that feeling is priceless. Towels, chairs, umbrellas, sunscreen, bikes to use as needed. Also if your flight is before checkin or after checkout can leave your stuff with front desk and with sense of security can enjoy the beach. Courtney at front desk was so kind and genuine. Good luck finding parking at any time of day. Wear your walking shoes because you are going to need them getting to and from your car. One day I circled the beach 25 minutes, found nothing, and wound up driving to Ft. Lauderdale and staying at a friends for the night. It can get incredibly noisy at night and I killed dozens of termites in my bathroom the second night here. Free WI-FI, a fridge, microwave, color tv, huge, comfy bed, shower with power--it's got it all! My room was clean and spacious and baby the price was right (best I could find after an exhaustive search). In Real Estate the mantra is "Location, location, location!" I was in town for 3 weeks on a business trip. We wanted to stay on the beach so was prepared to pay more for less accommodations but had no idea what we were in for. First, upon checking things out in the room noticed hair in the sheets, a bathroom that did not appear to have been cleaned & a plate of extremely molded food inside of the microwave. The hotel sits directly next to the construction for the new Margaritaville resort which started every morning promptly at 7am. Originally the room was booked for a month but when plans changed, we were told we couldn't go weekly & had to keep the month reservation. After speaking with a number of co-workers also staying at St Maurice we found out all others were booked 3 weeks & were paying a lower rate. With 1 week left in our reservation we were told we needed to check out or we would be charged. I was told that our reservation was for 3 weeks not a month & we needed to check out as our room had been rented to someone else... mind you all our co-workers had left & the hotel was sitting pretty much vacant. The person who made the reservation left 3 days before this happened & when they left it was confirmed with the owner that we had 10 days left but he had no recollection of that conversation. He told me that we had only paid 3 weeks & we needed to be out. When I asked why we paid more than our co-workers he said it was because they had stayed there before even though he knew the person who made our reservation stayed last year. He refused to refund the money we paid to stay a month because apparently he charged us a higher rate than everyone else & we only paid for 3 weeks. This hotel is run by crooks and if by some reason staying at this hotel is unavoidable, make sure you get everything in writing as they will take advantage of you if they can. read more

Things went down somewhat in the month since I was last here and there seems to be new management. I will be back in the area at the end of the month but my boyfriend wants to seek other accommodations, partially due to the parking situation (which happens pretty much throughout the beach area in Hollywood). Parking five blocks away is very difficult for someone who is only 4 months post-stroke. It is really a shame, because it was such a good place to stay during my last trip. The most disturbing part was when the front desk clerk/manager (?) let herself in our room unannounced, looking for someone else. I understand these things happen and she did apologize but had this happened 15 minutes earlier, it would have been really embarrassing for everyone involved. Please, at least knock. I do appreciate that she gave us a negotiated rate for the weekend, so that we did not have to move for Friday and Saturday, just to come back on Sunday-Tuesday. I will say that the new guy who works the front desk is awesome and goes out of his way to help and does it without a condescending attitude. I believe that his name is Paul. My $100 deposit was supposedly returned, but has yet to reappear in my account. The last debit card return from them was early September and my bank has confirmed that it has not been returned and there has been no attempt to return it. read more

Carlos checked us in, and he was so pleasant and knowledgeable. Courtney was very communicative over email to help with arranging a large group booking. They have convenient patios/grills that we were able to use for a team cookout to save on the cost of feeding 24 people. They have bicycles, beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas that can used for free. Rooms are small, but clean. Parking. That's the big issue. You get a parking permit, but have to find parking g somewhere on a street, which might be close, and might be far. The location is tight, since it's a couple steps from the boardwalk & beach. There was a couple that was pretty loud in the courtyard, especially for a weekend after 8hrs in a car. I really wanted some peace & quiet! Sean (Shawn?) Was a big help and really personable. He called to double check if we were coming in on time or running late, and we were REALLY late. We were trying to get in by 3 and it was well after 11 when we made it in. When we got there, he took his time and explained all the cool perks like bicycles, beach towels and umbrellas. I asked him a ton of questions about the area, and he had the answers I was looking for, from coffee spots to restaurants. Through our visit he'd helped out numerous times, even though numerous people were there bombarding him with questions and requests. You know, every once in a while I cross paths with someone that seems like they really belong in the hospitality business, and he's one of them. Parking and the courtyard noise makes it miss a star, otherwise I liked it there. I'd go back again since I like the smaller hotels and "small business" customer service. read more

Start off you can't beat the location. And that's about it as far as positive. Our room had a horrible Mold smell that stayed on our clothes after trip. The bathroom is so small had to sit sideways on toilet. The bed was actually comfortable to sleep on and the kitchenette came with pots and pans and a fridge . The building is old and we were woken up very early by the workers . Standing in front of our room on speakerphone yelling. The worst part is the parking. The give you a pass to park on street, however parking is extremely limited and took me an hour and a long walk to find parking. The water in the shower goes from scolding hot to cold periodically. This hotel is literally right next to Margarataville Resort. Steps from the beach! Visited as a last minute trip during Spring Break! If you're not looking to pay resort prices but still have all the resort action, this is the place for you! The front office is very helpful and super accommodating. Our last day there we had a half a day to kill before our flight and the nice lady up front let us take towels and chairs back to the beach! Thanks so much for a great stay St. Maurice! If you're looking for cheap drinks and still want to walk on the boardwalk, try the Caribbean Resort by the Ocean Tiki Bar just a short walk down the boardwalk.
