We were treated really poorly at the Deauville Inn. We met friends for drinks at 4:30. Most of the tables were empty. We were told we had to have our drinks on the beach and couldn't sit at a table. We went to the beach, and it was packed. We are almost 70, and my husband uses a walker. We couldn't go to the beach. One nice waitress told us we could sit at a table, and we said we would order food (which we did, and food was good). Then, some old woman (possibly owner or manager?) comes over and starts yelling at us for sitting at a table-"Who told you you could sit at this table? Did a hostess seat you?" I went here with my immediate household (I'm a 15 year old) and my mom and I ordered a crab cake, the cake itself was good, but the fries were cold and hard, my brother ordered garlic bread, however the was no garlic to be tasted! My other brother ordered clams, but they had no taste! What was even more ridiculous, the bill was super expensive for food that wasn't even half decent! I cannot recommend this place. Used to go to the Deauville and stopped a few years back due to the horrendous food and high prices. High prices at the shore I understand but serve decent food. New ownership so we started going again. High prices, bad food and shockingly bad service from the wait staff to the bar. I almost pined for the old Deauville! I understand they might be understaffed and people need patience but, the staff was beyond rude....it was very uncomfortable to the point that we ended up leaving and enjoyed our lunch/cocktails elsewhere. They need to get their act together and hire new managers or figure out how to be in the hospitality business. Avoid until then, there's plenty of other places to eat and not be made to feel that your money and your presence are not wanted. read more

Stopped in for breakfast, Thursday we sat right away along the tranquil bay with nesting ducks & minnows to view. Outside dining was peaceful & shaded with the large umbrellas. Wait staff was superb anticipating our needs. Clean & sanitized were the bathrooms during this pandemic. Food was inexpensive for coastal dining, filling yet delicious. Our favorite was the bagel breakfast pork roll sandwich & the breakfast bowl with avocado. Cool beach restaurant right on the water in Strathmere. They have plenty of seating. Some picnic tables in the sand, tables and counter seating under covering and some high top tables along the sidewalk. Great place for kids and families. They have corn hole on the beach area. Boats and jet skis were docking and coming up for drinks and food. Priced a little high for food. Drink prices are reasonable and on par. read more

We anticipated good things here, reading about the refurbished dining room, roaring twenties vibe. Touting the chef. Hadn't been there since pre covid and it was a pretty sad place then, decor and food wise. Except for the "beach parties". We were "greeted" by two young women at checkin, not a word spoken, so we gave our name and time. One pointed at an ipad, the other grabbed 2 menus and wordlessly started walking, so we giggled and followed her. Thought it was some kind of act. At a table, she tossed the menus on a table and walked away. 10 minutes followed, no one acknowledged or came by. A pleasant enough woman came along, said she would take care of us soon. She did return, we had doubts, and took drink order. 2 tall gin and tonics, bombay sapphire please. They came, lets just say the tonic was refreshing. We were having fun, watching the very vibrant outside bar, thinking we should be out there. Had a very lackluster prime rib, better half had very poor crab cakes. Prices were ok for a good restaurant, this place is not. Were very surprised when nice waitress at next table offered her party, specials. Ours never offered. Left very disappointed. Would never have dinner there again with so many good choices within a few miles. Maybe would go for the outside pub fare on a weeknight, it is a nice setting. read more

I have been a regular at the Deauville since the late 1980s, heading over there straight from the beach once the sun sets to grab a beer and a quick dinner on the way back to my summer house. In 2020 when I went over a few times after leaving the beach when there was no eating at the bar. Most nights they were full and had stopped taking reservations or had at least a 90 minutes wait for tables. I didn't get a chance to I patronize the Deauville Inn in 2020. Now that I am able to be seated inside at the bar I was excited to get me summer routine back in gear. I visited on the evening of July 5th and grabbed a seat at the bar, and waited 25 minutes to have a bartender finally come over and ask me if I wanted a drink. Gone are the old familiar faces behind the bar, replaced with new younger faces. When I order my beer I asked for a menu, and the bartender pointed to a QR code on the bar. Yes, they are still doing that. When I got her attention I asked for my usual twirling potato, and noted their was now only one size available. She then told me that they ran out of them. I then tried to order a shrimp cocktail, and the reply was yet again they ran out. Finally I ordered a fried flounder sandwich which they apparently still had some left. I then waited 30 minutes with and empty beer mug making up the finally 15 minutes of that. When the bartender came over to see if I wanted another beer I asked how much longer it would be for my sandwich. The reply was, "You ordered a sandwich?" I had been sitting next to a couple the whole time who were also regulars that I have seen there over the years who have a summer home in Strathmere Who were laughing with me about how bad the service was and shared that they did not plan to come back. I paid for my beer and headed back to my place Seaville and stopped at Yesterdays on the way home for dinner. I figured that mybexperience on July 5th was a fluke, and went back to with a friend after leaving the beach around 7:30 pm on July 21st. We grabbed a couple of seats at the indoor bar and someone took our drink order a few minutes after we sat down and we attempted to order our usual twirling potato, only to be informed that it was removed from the menu and no longer offered. We then offered actual menus, a step in the right direction, and were shocked by the number of items we both used to order that were no longer offered, over inflated prices on what remained, and the laughable prices on the newer items. Truthfully I could have gone to Steve & Cookie's in Margate, spent less, had much better food, all in a much less crowded and noisy environment. We paid for our beers and headed down the street to Twisties. Another thing is when we arrived on the 21st and I parked my Toyota Land Cruiser in the lot a parking attendant ran over and asked me if I could park closer to the vehicle on my passenger side. I told I could but there would not be enough room for anyone to park on my driver side regardless, but on parked closer to the vehicle on my passenger side. When we went to leave, of course the parking lot attendant had parked a car within a foot of my driver side and I could not get into my vehicle. I asked him if he could get the person he parked so close to my car to come move it so I could leave. He said he only told the person to park there and didn't know who they were. I did not park super close to the vehicle on my passenger side, so my friend was able to get in the passenger side and climb over the center console and back my vehicle out so I could get into it. Needless to say this 35 year customer of the Deauville Inn will never be coming back to the spend money here. I wish the new owner luck but they have lost any goodwill that I had for them. read more

Pretty easy to find, but not easy to locate entrance of the actual restaurant. Had a 5:30pm reservation but arrived 20 min early, and hostess told us we had to come back later or get texted. Went to the Patio bar (extremely crowded), ordered appetizers+wine. Hubby loved the clams, but my burrata arrived at 5:30, so Lynne at the Patio bar called hostess to come over to escort us to our table. Hostess carried my burrata to our table but didn't look happy to do it. Server was very busy, but came over quickly to take our order. I had $46 filet mignon (medium) but 1/4 of it was absolutely rare, so I sent it back. My plate looked very bare with only the filet and 1 cipollini onion on it. in comparison, my husband's $42 Jersey shore plate was more substantial. We noticed that no bread was served, and when we asked our server about it, she said they can only bake a loaf for the table, and there was only 2 of us, so we passed on that (seriously, NOT even a breadstick could've been served??) We also noticed that the dining room was not full, so being told that we had to return at EXACTLY 5:30 to be seated made NO sense. Sunset was in progress, so we asked for our check, and we mentioned to our server that we wanted to go outside to take a photo of the sunset and that we would be right back. She told us that it was restaurant policy that we leave an ID on the table. Our thought was -- What?!? She explained that they had "problems" in the past, so it's "policy". So we decided to just wait for the check (which came in 2 min flat). We are both old enough to be her parents, and I highly doubt the probability that people like us take off without paying! We could've just disappeared at any time to go the the "restroom" so this "policy" makes NO sense either. We thought the food was very overpriced for what you get. So just bring your Black Barclay's card and you should be fine. Also bring along low expectations for what you will actually receive. You won't be disappointed. read more

Went to Deauville Inn for a late lunch today. I was with my three companions and got a table right along to water under a nice umbrella providing much needed shade.... The selections from all were Hamburger, Lobster Roll and 2 Cheesesteaks.. Food was okay, drinks were potable. But what made our experience memorable was the efficient, pleasant and professional service we received from Rob, our waiter. Personable and attentive we had all our needs addressed quickly and with a smile. Good luck in college Rob, you're going places! read more

Very sketchy experience.. we asked our waiter to split our check 6 ways evenly.. $116 went on one card and $77 on others (very overpriced), but it took 25 minutes to get them to give us a full receipt of everything that was ordered. The receipts we were given only had the price not everything ordered.. We asked to speak to the manager he was super short with us and very unhelpful. They said they voided the $116, but "could not give a voided receipt " its looking like I will be going back to get my money back later today because I have still not been credited. The food was okay.. seems to me like things are going downhill from my previous experiences here and I am wondering if there are some sketchy things going on behind the scenes because of how frustrated our waiter and the manager seemed when we politely asked for our real receipts.. Service here is...interesting. I've recently dined here twice....once in the fall and once this April. (Very warm days). Both times the restaurant was NOT busy at all and there was an abundance of workers. PROS: 1. The pretty view and outdoor ambiance! 2. The food is good, but expensive (but this is not surprising for a restaurant on the water). CONS: What IS surprising is the lack of good service. Both times I found it a bit rude and inconsistent. Most recently, we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who brought us to a table...then we waited....and waited....and waited for someone to come over and welcome us and at least fill up our empty glasses. 25 minutes and Nothing! This was not for lack of servers.... there were many servers walking back and forth next to our table -- and they would catch my eye and look away. Multiple times. Over & over. Very strange. Finally after giving them the benefit of the doubt, I chased someone down who looked like a manager. They didn't apologize but they did send a over a server to take our order, Who also didn't apologize or acknowledge our long wait -- but she did take our order and our food arrived (faster than I was expecting based on our earlier experience.) On a related note, I find it very un- customer friendly that they do not have printed menus. You need to scan a QR code and look for the menu on your phone. This is fine for smaller menus and people who are tech savvy. It worked fine for me but people who don't have cell phones or the elderly are discriminated against. On my earlier visit, I had my parents with me, neither of them have a smart phone, so we had to share my phone (and look through a large cumbersome menu). I had to beg and beg the hostess for a menu and finally she found one -- but it was as if I was asking for a big favor!! So really, is it too much to ask for them to have some paper menus for people who can't access or read it on their phone? Generally speaking, this place seriously needs a culture makeover -- and a dining consultant to re-train the staff. I truly hope they choose to improve their issues because this could be a really great place!! Let's hope so! read more

Although I keep going back because of the location, I feel like kicking myself the moment the waitress comes to the table. The food is mediocre at best. The renovations are very nice as is the staff but it was very noisy in the dining room - very hard to carry on a conversation. Still hopeful, we ordered - she crab & French onion soups but both were luke warm and nothing great. We ordered our entrees and they were okay - no frills - not even a lemon wedge with the stuffed shrimp, burger was warm - came out missing ingredients as described on menu, everything was a la carte on a pricey menu for the offering. The meal was tasty. But our waiter disappeared. If I'm paying $42 for a meal, I'd like to be asked if everything is alright; I'd also like my empty water glass to be refilled. No paper menus provided, you have to scan a code and read the menu on your phone. The ambiance here is great but the food is lackluster especially for the steep prices, at least this year (pre-Covid times the food was awesome). We went here to celebrate my MIL's birthday and I had the "crab stuffed shrimp" which was really a crab cake with shrimp under it. All 6 of the shrimp for the meal were rubbery and totally overcooked (it tasted like the whole shrimp had a shell on it instead of just the tail because of how poorly they were cooked). Other members of the table had good meals and some had not great meals also. The one I had was unfortunately one of the worst shrimp dishes I've ever had. Our waitress did not come back to check on us during the meal so I wasn't able to tell her how bad it was. I would have recommended this place in previous years but based off of the food I had this time I would not recommend, especially for the price. read more
