Central Park Vision Center - I actually took this picture to show the chicken wing sauce in my beard for another review, but it's also the first day with the new glasses

Appointments are available at times that are convenient for me, and I never have a long wait to see the doctor. The staff I've interacted with have consistently been helpful and kind, which I truly appreciate. Dr. Holifield is patient and caring, and I will continue to return for my yearly checkups. I wear contact lenses and have been happy with the same brand for many years. While Dr. Holifield may occasionally suggest trying a new brand--and I'm open to giving them a try--there's never any pressure. I'm always supported in sticking with what works best for me. If you're looking for a new optometrist, I highly recommend giving Central Park Vision a try

First, Dr. Holifield is pretty incredible. I picked this place because of the Yelp reviews, and I…read morehave to say, they are right on target. I came in and the staff took my information and had me sit and wait for my exam. It was a very short wait and I was brought back to the see the doctor. I have been wearing glasses since I was 12 years old, so I've had a lot of eye exams. Never mind how many. This one was probably the most thorough I have ever had. Dr. Holifield really did an incredible job of checking out my vision and my eyes in general. He also recommended some eye drops for me, and his staff managed to get a prescription that was normally over $800 for free. Great job! I picked out my new glasses (you can see them in the photo), and while they are not the exact frames I wanted, they'll do. It was a bit pricey, but I have vision insurance so that covered part of it. When I got home I had a notice in the mail that my employer had changed to a new vision insurance carrier. I immediately called the office to apologize and give them the new information, only to find that they had already found it and had billed the correct insurance. That is truly excellent customer service. They told me it would take up to two weeks for the new glasses, which was fine, but it turns out, they were ready in six days. I picked them up and I'm wearing them right now. And I can see, so I guess the visit was a success. And I have a new eye doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Jonathan Gordon for several years. Over that time, I have spent…read morethousands of dollars at the practice, referred new patients, and always considered myself a loyal customer. Recently, I began receiving emails indicating that the practice had merged with or been acquired by another company. Since I was due for a new eye exam and prescription anyway, I called the office to ask a few questions and schedule an appointment. Because I do not have vision insurance, I simply asked whether the pricing or discounts I had previously received as a long-time patient would still be available. I thought this was a perfectly reasonable question to ask. Kayla informed me that no discounts were available, which I accepted. I then politely asked whether Dr. Gordon might be willing to provide a few extra contact lens samples since I would be paying entirely out of pocket. Kayla placed me on hold to ask. Instead of receiving a courteous response, Brandy came on the phone and immediately spoke to me in a very aggressive and rude manner. She stated that Dr. Gordon was "just an employee" and that nothing additional could be done. While I was surprised by her tone, I chose to keep my appointment because I valued the relationship I thought I had built with the practice over the years. When I arrived for my scheduled 1:00 p.m. appointment, I was told there was no appointment in their system. I had written the appointment down and am certain it had been scheduled. Both Kayla and Brandy were at the front desk, and Brandy continued displaying the same rude attitude and facial expressions that I experienced on the phone. I asked if I could speak with Dr. Gordon simply to explain what had happened. Rather than listening to a long-time patient, he immediately sided with Brandy and also spoke to me in a rude and insulting manner. At no point was I disrespectful or confrontational. I was simply trying to keep an appointment that I had made and understand what had gone wrong. The most disturbing part of the encounter occurred as I was leaving. Dr. Gordon followed me outside and told me, "Go back to Wilton." As someone who is gay, I found that statement deeply offensive and interpreted it as a derogatory remark directed at me. Whether or not that was his intent, it was completely inappropriate, unprofessional, and something I never expected to hear from a physician. After years of loyalty, referrals, and paying out of pocket for my care, I was treated with disrespect from beginning to end. One unpleasant employee can damage a practice's reputation, but when the physician himself reinforces that behavior instead of addressing it professionally, it speaks volumes about the culture of the office. I cannot recommend this practice based on my experience. Patients deserve to be treated with courtesy, respect, and professionalism--especially long-time patients who have supported the practice for years. Unfortunately, that is not what I experienced here.

I am writing this post on 11/10/25 but was at this store for first time in April of 2024…read more The optometrist was fine. The young lady who assisted me with getting glasses (fitting and selecting) was not knowledgeable and didn't explain things properly. I was getting progressive lenses and also made sure to explain to her that I have a rare eye disease, so it's imperative that I see well. Unfortunately, she didn't fully explain that they use different types of progressive lenses when it comes to the peripheral vision. I had always gotten Varilux lenses which happen to be one of the most expensive lenses, that give you the best peripheral vision. Since every other place I was used to going to for eyeglasses automatically gave me those lenses, I had no idea that other places gave some that are inferior in quality (and are cheaper). Needless to say, when I got my glasses and took them home I realized that I was having terrible issues with my vision! I couldn't put my finger on what exactly was wrong! When I looked head on at things it was fine. But what took me a while to understand was that my peripheral vision was way off! I wound up going back to the store and wound up with the same young lady, much to my chagrin. Honestly, this gal really didn't seem to be much of an optician. She really didn't seem to be very sure of herself and when I explained to her the trouble I was having she couldn't figure out what was wrong! I finally asked for her manager who was busy but finally came over to help. After 5 minutes of looking at the eyeglasses, the manager said, just a minute, and looked at MY old glasses and came back and knew right away that the peripheral was different! I told her I had no idea that there were options with this; it was not really explained to me. She said she'd have the lenses remade for me. I asked her about the difference in the peripheral quality and she said that some people do get the standard kind. I asked why someone would want that; why wouldn't they want the best vision possible? She said sometimes it's a matter of price. Of course it would take another couple of weeks. When I finally got the eyeglasses back, they were fine. Several months later I noticed that the eyepieces were getting very loose. Every time I would open and close the eyepieces, the screws would move. I never saw this happen before. Seemed very weird. I took the glasses back to store and the manager explained that sometimes she has to use some type of oil or something when she tightens the screws to keep it from loosening so quickly. I've been wearing glasses for over 60 years and never heard that before....lol... Anyway, I could not recommend this store to you unless you are just looking for sunglasses and are not picky about your eyeglasses! If you are serious about your vision and very careful, stay away!
