We had lunch at Deborah's Kitchen Table after a morning exploring Goliad, and it ended up being the highlight of our day. This is exactly the kind of place you hope to find on a trip--home-style cooking, generous portions, and something for everyone. Our group tried a mix of cheeseburgers, chicken fried steak, and chicken tenders, and everything was a hit, especially with the kids. The sides were just as good--classic comfort food done right. I ordered the pecan-crusted chicken, and I would come back for that alone. It was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and easily one of the best meals I've had on the trip so far. We were too full to try dessert, but the slices of pie at the counter looked amazing and definitely worth saving room for next time. This restaurant was located on the square in town. They had over a dozen delicious pies and cookies. The service was great and the food was good. Would be better with fountain drinks and a better greeting when we first walked in, since we weren't sure what to do. read more

This place deserves a solid five stars. All the food was fresh and incredibly tasty. The pecan-crusted chicken was amazing, crispy on the outside and juicy inside, made with tender chicken breast. The fish was delicate and perfectly cooked. Everything we tried was full of flavor. Service was great. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. The coconut meringue pie was unforgettable -- I've never had a pie this good before. Definitely worth trying. The atmosphere was cozy and pleasant. We haven't eaten in Goliad in a number of years and tried to remember the last place we ate at. This wasn't it, but we still made a great selection. From start to finish, the staff, food, and service were incredible. The only drawback was the chicken fried steak had brown gravy on it instead of cream gravy. The server stated that is what I requested. Who knows?! Maybe I did! The food was still delicious nonetheless! This was a beautiful restaurant. Don't let the exterior of the building fool you. We had been staying at Goliad State Park and are self-contained so only dined out once and it was here. What a treat!! Great service, a clean and friendly atmosphere and great food! I'd read rave reviews about the cream of jalepeno soup and almost panicked when it wasn't even on the menu. They only have it when it's shown on the daily special board out on the sidewalk. Fortunately, it was available today. And it lived up to the good reviews. It was excellent. I also had a reuben sandwich that was very good. My wife had pecan crusted chicken over linguini, both topped with a honey lemon butter. She loved it. There aren't very many choices for dining in Goliad and I'm sure glad we chose this one. read more

Great food, affordable and clean. On Friday they offer a choice of fried catfish, fried shrimp or a combination of both, with French fries and coleslaw. It's all good! They start with clean frying oil each day. If you are lucky and they have leftovers on Saturday, they have the same special. read more

Only been here once but ugh. I really wanted to like this place. They were packed the day we were there because of market days so I get it. Service was slow and rude. Tolerated it because people were walking out. There were no tables and staff wasn't taking names or offering wait times. They were literally ignoring people and hoping they would go away. Lol. We were told to find a table and had no choice but to take a 6 top for 2. We felt like jerks for taking up a whole huge table! We did offer the other seats to others that looked lost when they walked in though. When the food did finally came out it was cold sloppy and bland. Took a day trip with the wife on Valentine's Day to Goliad Tx! Wonderful town with Missions and old Forts to visit. Found this little restaurant on the town square and gave it a try. Food was excellent and in just the right portions. I had the daily special, which was lasagna and my wife had grilled chicken. Very tasty and no complaints. The waitress was nice and took care of us well. I noticed that the owner was helping out where she was needed and even had her young daughter manning the cash register and credit card machine. The place was very clean and had an air of old town charm. We will definitely go back on our next visit that direction. read more

We had an early lunch. My wife had the chicken tenders & mashed potatoes with green beans. Enjoyed. I had the pecan crust chicken pasta. Small salad was very good & fresh. Pasta was ok. Chicken was very good. A little sweeter than I prefer, but I should have expected that it was listed with a drizzle of honey. Atmosphere was relaxed, servers both friendly & efficient. This is a very homey restaurant. The walls are adorned with pictures of families enjoying meals together. The tables have vintage looking salt and pepper shakers, different sets on each table. This old building has the feel of home. I had the pecan crusted chicken w/ linguine, however today it was spaghetti. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. It came topped with some butter and a drizzle of honey. The spaghetti didn't have any sauce on it so I just used the butter and it was fine. The server was friendly and did a great job. The prices are reasonable and provide a great lunch value. I will visit again. read more

We ate there today for the 2nd time. We thought we would try again. The food is fine-ordered the same thing - but their service, friendlyness, welcoming and atmosphere is none existent. What ashame for I'm sure a family business (pictures on wall). Both times when we walked in not one person greeted us or showed us to a table (always a guy behind counter-1st time a girl too, today an older gentleman-the girl was our waitress). You find your own table and then just wait for someone to wait on you. When you leave, no one says thank you and please come again. So , I guess we aren't going back. I just happen to stop by there today for lunch. Had their special which was chicken and dumplings, cornbread, and green beans. The food was excellent. I had their coconut pie for dessert, which was also excellent. The young lady that waited on me, was barely out of high school, and Must of been her first day at work or she simply did not understand how to be a good waitress. Did stop by and asked if everything was OK once and I said it's very good with which she had no response to me at all. When she brought my dessert, she simply put it down With no comment. Came back and asked if I needed anything else with no question about what I thought about the desert or any such thing. When she laid the check on the table, she did not say whether I paid at the cash register, or if I paid her. the rest of the staff never spoke to me at all. It was a holiday Monday and we were looking for place to eat. We saw it didn't have a lot of reviews but we took a chance. I'm glad we did. Food was very good, service was great.
