Visited Saturday memorial weekend . Busy which is usually a good sign Hostess who was probably the owner was very nice and friendly. it kinda went down hill from there . A very large Hispanic woman was my waitress, she grunted when I asked for my eggs to be placed on top of my hash browns. She left and never returned. I had to flag her down to request more coffee and again for a small OJ. When she brought my order She basically dropped the plate in the table tossed the check down a vanished again. $17.50 for what you see, coffee and a small OJ seemed a bit pricey. My tip was $1.25 which was more than she deserved . Live and learn. read more

My sister had the pecan pancake and I had the cheesy grits bake. Both were absolutely delicious! These folks know what they are doing!!

Though it doesn't look like much from the outside, the interior is warm and comfortable. Breakfast portions are large. We had takeout out multiple times. Ordered blueberry and pecan pancakes (1pancake each) the size of 1 pancake was humongous, taking up a whole dinner plate. Lots it blueberries and pecans! We will definitely go back next time in Rockport. read more

Arrived at Our Family Kitchen Restaurant at 324 TX-35 Bus Rockport Texas 78382 for lunch on May 21, 2025. We have eaten here before and have not been disappointed. We were greeted cordially and promptly seated! We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, Cole Slaw and Fried Okra, and added a small order of Onion Rings. Disappointment set in when I bit into the Onion Rings! They were NOT even warm and although they looked Delicious they were not! Not as crispy, as before snd the coating was soft and of course not even warm! It appears they cooked them ahead of time and the "Rings" got soft and cold waiting to be picked up! I've eaten here before and they were absolutely great! Not today! The Okra was hard and tough, looked burnt and also not even warm. The Chicken Fried steak was tough so she spit it out since she couldn't chew it through the gristle! You can see the beginnings of it on her plate. Again, not warm and neither was the gravy! In defense of the Gravy, even cold, it was delicious! Having stated my review we understand that sometimes some of the staff might not be having a good day! To cook fine meals you must have a good attitude, leave all worries outside the kitchen and cook with a lot of pride and passion! We will still give this restaurant our business! Go there, it's still a Jewel! My qualifications as an Expert and Experienced Food and Service Critic; I have over 65 years of Management Experience. I have a College Degree with a BS in Management and have been trained in two Culinary Schools, to include on the job training at other venues. Food, staff were exceptional. Saturday morning of course you have to wait about 20 minutes just like the hostess mentioned upon checking in. Big portions and never had bacon, sausage and ham with side of eggs be that delicious. The meat isn't salty like other places I've had. Biscuits weren't out of a can, they tasted homemade. Always a good meal, can't go wrong here. We stop for breakfast or lunch at this spot every time we visit the coast. You just can't go wrong. Eggs are always cooked right, bacon is crispy, ham is sweet and the biscuits are like clouds. Good coffee in good cups, it's like being at home. Note: they do charge a 4% fee if using credit cards. Don't get that as it's part of cost of doing biz and only see this happen in Tx! Just hope they don't up charge customers and also deduct as cost of business on their taxes. Just saying. read more

We came here about 10:30 am on a weekday, I was hoping we could score some of their famous onion rings, but alas, only avails starting at 11am with lunch. We ordered 1 chocolate chip pancake and a green chili casserole to spilt. We added sausage. Casserole comes with Hash browns. The casserole portion could have been bigger - but it was quite tasty. The pancake was thin and light - and even my husband commented that it had the "perfect amount of chocolate chips." The service was great and the bathrooms were very clean. This place has a great breakfast, so be prepared for a wait if you go mid morning. I typically have a typical breakfast with two eggs, bacon and hash browns. The service is always quick, but can take a while if they are busy. Just bring your patience. The location has plenty of room for parties of 5 or more. Larger parties may have a longer wait. We had to wait 20 minutes on a Friday (at noon) for a table August 14, 2020 We had the following Chicken fried steak with egg/hash browns French toast w/bacon Uncle Dave's Favorite (my dish) Comes with 3 scrambled eggs and your 3 choices of veggies and proteins. (each additional ingredient is .99 cents) I had bell pepper with bacon and sausage...this was served over hash browns topped with white gravy...it's a lot of food so, not for wimps! Amazing food! Home cooked and fresh. I've never had pancakes this good! My favorite pancakes are the cheesecake factory cinnamon roll pancakes but they're blueberry pancakes put those two absolute shame. Our Family Kitchen is exactly the the kind of quick service good old fashioned diner service I am looking for during a short trip to Rockport. There was about a twenty minute wait for our table, which was to be expected of a party of four on a Saturday morning, and once we were sat, our drinks were out in no time. Of course the best indicator of a breakfast joint is their coffee, which for me fell a bit flat and was the most disappointing part of the visit. Nobody else seemed to mind, so maybe that's what I get for drinking it black. No place to hide the flavors! The food came just as quick, two at the table ordered biscuits and gravy, another went for the pancakes, and I got the green chili casserole. When I tell you these four dishes alone were enough to feed a small army...the portions were enormous! Had we all known ahead of time, we certainly would have went for sharing instead of getting our own. I can confirm the heaping piles of food were at least delicious. The green chili casserole is a pleasant surprise from your usual egg based casserole in that it came nearly in the form of lasagna! With layers of egg, cheese, and flattened out chilis stacking on top of each other to create something fantastically savory. The staff we encountered were all filled with the Texas small town hospitality we know and love, and overall it felt as though we were catching breakfast at grandma's house. In biz for 7 years now and going strong for locals and toruist alike. I see why that is. Good food, big portions and super kind staff that keep meals coming out fast even when packed. Food is tasty and affordable all round for what we got. The pancakes are thick and fluffy and tasty, the bacon crispy and delicious. My ham and eggs were on point and man do I love grits. Coffee here is strong and bold. Kevin the owner is an amazing guy still working the kitchen himself after 7 years in business and yet makes time to come out and talk to customers like me. That's priceless in my book. Class act. A must stop spot for breakfast in Rockport for darn sure. At one time Kevin told me they were the only local restaurant open for 8 months after Harvey hit and damaged many others. They were the lifeblood of the resto world for this small town and I'm happy to know they were able to do so. read more
