My fiancee introduced me to Decatur Package Store. When she and her friends were undergrads at Emory, this was their go-to package store for most of their alcoholic beverage needs (and if I recall correctly, it was mostly for wine and spirits; they were fancy college students). Add Decatur Package Store to the list of good package stores I've come across in metro Atlanta. I like this place. This store is located in North Decatur near the intersection of Clairemont Ave and N Decatur Rd. It's less than two miles and about five minutes away from Downtown Decatur. We were headed to Downtown Decatur and wanted to pick up a bottle of wine for a gift, so this store was conveniently-located for us. The folks that work here were friendly and eager to help. I usually like to ask for help when buying a bottle of wine because I'm not an expert, but we didn't need it this time. We let the "Herb's Choices" signs guide us. Herb is the owner (Herb Chereck) and he has recommendations all around the store. He includes detailed and helpful descriptions for his recommendations. We were looking for a value-priced red and ended up going with a 2014 Hook & Ladder Chalk Hill (Sonoma County) Cabernet Sauvignon for $24.99. Herb said it has a "rich aroma of lush, black cherry fruit" and the finish has "soft brambly fruit, ripe tannins and good length." What sold me was the bottom line: "This Cab has excellent fruit and excellent balance." Thank you, Herb. The store was packed to the gills with a diverse and wide array of alcoholic beverages. At the same time, it was really easy for us to find what we wanted. We were in and out in a matter of minutes. There's plenty of free parking.

I must admit that I am not a beer connoisseur, but more of a beer apprentice. So unfortunately, I…read morecannot fake knowing what I am talking about when it comes to beer and the selection available at this location. I will say that I did a selection and price comparison to another growler store a couple of miles away, and The Beer Growler was not only cheaper, but it offered significantly more options. The store itself is a delightful hodgepodge of eclectic interior design - owls, interesting artwork, clearly labeled tap selection on a giant blackboard. But I must say the selling point of this particular location would have to be the service. It was serviced by an all-woman staff, and as a woman, this was a very attractive quality. These girls know about beer, and it was so refreshing to see women run the place because every other growler shop I have been to have been all-male staff. One thing I am not a huge fan of is the fact that we had to pay for samples. I haven't had to do that at other growler type shops. We ended up getting the Wild Heaven, which provided a lot for the money. One of my favorite beer is the KT Bourbon - excellent, rich, and so much substance to it. Will be stopping here again!

After a shift working with soul-crushing low-IQ managers we would go to the trailer across the street and buy a gallon of Meister Brau freshly tapped into a plastic jug. That beer jug got me through a bad time. Luckily we don't do that anymore. The Beer Growler is nothing like those dark days. Here you will find 35 or so of the best beers available in Georgia ready for you to take home in 32 or 64 ounce bottles. You can spend a little or a lot but you can surely get something really tasty. Go for it!

Smooth on the spoon with that soft creamy finish that makes soup feel a little luxurious instead of just warm. The feta on top cut through it nicely. Salty. Tangy. A little flash of brightness in every bite. It gave comfort with some polish. Like rainy day food that still has good posture. The almond croissant was the one. Golden edges. A soft shatter on the outside. Then that dense almond center that lands sweet, nutty, and almost plush. The powdered sugar on top made it feel a little extra in the best way. Not too precious. Not too sugary. Just enough to make it feel bakery serious. The kind of pastry that makes you pause after the first bite because now everybody else at the table wants some. The tea was better than good. Clean. Smooth. Calming in a way that made everything else settle into place. It felt intentional. Not an afterthought. Definitely the standout and the easiest thing to come back for. Forgot her name, but the woman helping me order was a lifesaver. Honest. Adorable. Knew how to guide without hovering. Gave the kind of recommendation you trust immediately. The room had that easy café buzz. Warm lighting. People lingering. Felt relaxed without losing its shape. it's giving... quiet luxury brunch energy due to the vibe she gave. Coming back.
