To my surprise, they had a happy hour that went until 6pm even on a Saturday and I was able to order oysters for two dollars each and get a glass of wine for $12 so of course I ordered a dozen oysters For my entrée, I ordered the trout with black rice and succotash. The skin was crispy. It was a decent sized fillet and the sauce was a good pairing. Overall, lovely experience. This year, it operates from March 31 to November 17. I admit, it is more tiny than huge (perhaps around 15 vendors with roughly 2-3 selling produce), but it's worth visiting! Unlike some markets where you have to scavenge for parking in the nearby neighborhoods, the parking situation is exceptional since there's a giant lot right next to the venue which is First Baptist Church. This church happens to be quite near downtown Decatur in case you want to go there after or before. I believe all vendors accept credit cards but cash seems to be warmly welcomed at most or all businesses. Since there's a lush lawn in front of the church, it's a kid magnet and prime picnic spot; you can grab a snack or dinner and just chill. Some of my favorite sellers include Snapfinger Farm, Galette, and Honey Next Door. Shop local!

But lucky me, The Spotted Trotter was out at the Grant Park Farmers Market that I attended recently and I got to check them out irl and support. (I told the gentleman who was at the table why I hadn't been in yet and he did explain that there was an easier way to enter. Ooops.) He was also so patient with me and explained the offerings and how I could use them all. Their menu board was calling my name and although I didn't need to buy anything, we love supporting local, yes? Yes. They had so many delicious options. Sausages, cheeses, all kinds of cured meats - just a carnivore's dream. I can only imagine how amazing the in-store experience is! I had no clue what to grab but ended up going for some calabrian pancetta that is crazyyy delicious. I can't wait to visit the brick and mortar and check out the rest of their options.
