The food was very good and they have a variety of beers (as you would expect!) of German origin. I tried the Munich beer and found it to be very smooth and drinkable. The portions are good. My only issue was with the bratwurst bun/roll. It is too big and too firm to be able to comfortably eat the sandwich without being a pig. I ended up cutting it up with my knife and fork but that defeats the purpose. The atmosphere is very nice, with an outdoor patio area. I would definitely recommend it and I want to come back to try the dessert and some of the other traditional German food.

A few things to make sure you know when you go, they include a 20% service fee on your check and still ask for a tip afterwards. This may be normal for a city restaurant but confused us up front. Also, they do family style seating here for smaller groups (this might be just because of the crowds - not sure). They have large picnic tables inside and will seat multiple groups at these. While this didn't really bother us, if you are going for privacy, unless you have a large group, you won't get it here. Outside of this the server was friendly and we got our food quickly.

The mains are cooked up delicious. The crinkle cut fries might come from the freezer but are still elite. I had the garlic and herb chicken drum lollipops and the bartender said good choice. No regrets. In part because... I am not a huge beer drinker - been almost a teetotaler my whole adult life. I did ask for a beer sample and I'm so glad I did! I thought I'd prefer the 4% ABV Emergency beer but it was so meh compared to the Punchy drink... which I also didn't love but had more flavor. The bartender guy offered me 2 or maybe 3 more samples! Season 20 and 21, and then I got the Putsch, ABV 5% delicious! So glad I tried a few to learn what I like - the bartender was a great listener. But after that I had some free water and there are plenty of non-alcoholic to choose from, even lime seltzer and cokes and mocktails. There are teens and kids enjoying the band (Love Whistle) no complaints I dig it enjoy

The staff are fantastic, personable, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. They really know their craft and are happy to share recommendations on both drinks and food. The ambiance adds so much to the experience, I recommend you to come and relax on the patio or grab a seat at the bar. There's such a great vibe all around that makes you want to stay awhile. If you're in the area, definitely stop by, you'll enjoy every bit of the atmosphere that Brick Store has been giving all this time. I will be back!

Got a text back saying they don't take reservations, it's first come, first serve, but they would do what they could to accomodate us. 4 of us were seated and we had 2 more coming before we wanted to order. The wait staff was attentive, making sure we had our beverages and if we needed anything before the 2 arrived. Once they arrived, the staff gave us a few minutes to make sure the 2 had a chance to look at the menus. We ordered appetizers to start...corn bread, sage fried pierogies and poutine. We weren't sure about the poutine because we didn't see any gravy, we did see the cheese curds on the fries, but once we finally dug in, the gravy was at the bottom. The pierogies were tasty. We asked if they could cut the cornbread so each of us could get a taste, which they did. Corn bread had a toasted texture, and the honey butter was delicious! Everyone ordered something different. One had fish and chips, which would seem to be a likely order for a pub. Their special for the day was a ruben. Another ordered a falafel sandwich, and I think 2 salmon BLT's and then one salad with rainbow trout. Portions were not overwhelming, but we realized that we were full from the appetizers and almost everyone ended up taking most of their main choices in doggie bags (boxes). As time got closer to the festival to start, it did get crowded, but the staff handled the influx of people and people were seated relatively quickly. This was a nice destination as most of the group live a drive from Decatur. Lovely afternoon visit!

I headed straight for the bar. There were a few patrons scattered around, but it definitely was not packed. The first thing I noticed was how dimly lit the interior was. With my old man eyes, I actually had to turn on my phone flashlight to read the menu at the bar. I was happy to see the beer menu was very extensive with a solid number of food options as well. I was looking over the beer list and the friendly bartender came by. I advised I was in the mood for a nice sweet stout and he made a suggestion and provided a taster. I was sold and ordered a full size. I was leisurely drinking my stout and enjoying the atmosphere. The bartender made sure to check on me and make sure I didn't need anything else. I will definitely be back to taste some other beer and food options.
