Steak & Spinach and Cheese empenada's
    Ida S.

The empenada's and pizza here, never disappoint! The service is great! The atmosphere is lively! I always get my food and take it downstairs or to one of the side bars! Delicious!

I have no idea who tosses sauce from a bucket on top of a pie once its done cooking. Oh well.

Eating amazing pizza while hungry leads to an elevated experience. Eating crappy pizza while hungry satisfies the stomach a bit. Decent Pizza is somewhere between. The common denominator was that our party of four was very hungry and pizza sounded great. The majority of pizza places will put the marinara sauce under the cheese so everything gets cooked. As soon as my phone buzzed I ran to the counter to grab the pies. Little did I know the person behind the counter was slapping the marinara on top of the pizza from a bucket that was sitting out in the open. Service certainly does not get a not. The guy worked behind the counter did not make even the smallest of conversations with us and hurried us along. The girl that "assembled" both pies did just that, flung both pizzas on the counter and walked off. Your experience may vary but I doubt a return trip would even be warranted after an ok experience. 2.5 stars seems more appropriate. We were just hungry.

Amazing pepperoni pizza. The sourdough dough they use is delicious! The texture was perfect! Great flavor all around. It was a bit pricey for the size. The iced tea tasted off, so I'd pass on that in the future. The service was straightforward - order at the counter, and they text you when the pizza is ready.

Service was fantastic, the prices fair, the food was delicious. But man are the edges crispyyyyyy lol! The roof of my mouth is protesting my food decision last night haha. Oh well, I'd still do it again. I got the 1/2 portion chicken bacon ranch. I was worried about the red onion and jalapeño over powering the flavor but everything paired really nice with each other.

We were hungry, so maybe a little better than truly decent pizza. We split a large pizza for a late lunch while exploring the Ivywild school. Just the basic cheese for us, but it was eight slices and a decent amount to split. Pizza overall was good. Adding the sauce at the end was a bit weird. Would've rather had it seem more baked on the pizza, but whatever. Decent pizza at a decent price. Decent pizza!

Very pricey. Was not a fan - essentially just nice cheesy bread with marinara on top.

The crew was awesome and it's always cool to me to see how hands-on every single person on the staff is. I was super hungry so I ordered the Niçoise salad which was perfect. The vinaigrette they have is flavorful and I would put it on anything. Since I've been on a ramen kick lately I had to have the wabi-sabi ramen which I highly recommend to everyone. Drinks! Shuga's is avant-garde dining, with a menu of all different kind of items that somehow still co-exist without sacrificing flavor, but still shows love to that menu item's traditional style. I was obsessed with the eclectic vibe both inside and on their patio. The weather was beautiful so we took advantage of the outdoor seating. The menu featured some delicious and unique items. I opted for the bruschetta & soup combo. The coconut shrimp soup was my absolutely fave! So so good! The bruschetta were hit or miss for me, I liked the goat cheese with grape but the salmon I wish had more flavor. Overall we enjoyed the meal & some great lattes too! An awesome spot to start the morning at.

If you're sitting at the bar you can see the window where your food comes up -- our salad and fries both sat there about ten minutes before anyone brought them the ten feet over to us. Not a huge deal, but it's a little cruddy sitting there thinking "I'm pretty sure that's ours" and waiting. The ambiance is very dark, with a lot of stairs up and down -- you head into sort of a basement-type area. Everything I saw was clean and nice. It's a cool, funky spot to take a date or hit for happy hour, so the vibe and ambiance are definitely spot on for that. Signature cocktails -- all fine. Not the best thing ever, but solid. I'd have them again. Side salad -- good. The ranch is made in house and very flavorful, and the salad was actually loaded with veggies. French fries with garlic aioli -- a bit of a letdown. We didn't even finish them. They came out okay, just a little dry, and the aioli itself wasn't very good -- we didn't really like it. Pro tip: The entrées looked pricey, which is why we stuck to snacking at the bar -- and after the fries came out, we were fine calling it there and eating elsewhere. Overall, would recommend for happy hour, and would return.

We sat down and waited at least 15 mins before a server acknowledged our presence. Then another few mins until he took our mimosa orders, then another 10 or more until they arrived. Waaaayyy too long for initial drinks at ANY restaurant! We ordered food as soon as our drinks hit the table (~30 mins after being seated), and enjoyed out drinks for quite some time until realizing it was AFTER 12pm and no sight of our food or waiter and the place was about half empty at that point. A manager finally came by to apologize for the delay, but didn't offer to comp our drinks or food or anything! Another 10mins or so later and we finally got our food. The Smoked Salmon Benedict was very very smoky flavored and I even ordered the salmon separate by from the actual benedict part of the dish as a precaution, but the smoke flavor overtook the entire dish. For $19, it had no hash browns included, and I wasn't paying $6 more for fried potato strings. My daughter had the grilled cheese with tomato soup and both were absolutely phenomenal! The pumpkin bread French toast was just pumpkin bread with whipped cream and caramel drizzle, not real French toast with pumpkin spun into it. Not impressive. Overall, the staff was very nice and the dining areas super cute, but the prices and wait time and lack of management correction make this a place I likely won't be trying again anytime soon.

For appetizers, we ordered the Trout Rillettes and baby gem salad. The trout was very creamy and the salad was underwhelming for $16... it may look big in the photo because of the angle but it was small and it reminded me more of a wedge salad. For dinner, I had the Seared Salmon with crab fried rice, it was underwhelming for the price, and my husband had the Seared Red Snapper and said it was "too fishy". He didn't finish it. I've known about it for sometime, but never been there. They have outdoor seating indoor seating the seating of course it's on Tejon so it could be loud. We sat inside. I will say our server was attentive and checked in with us a lot. We ordered a Smashburger, a kids, burger and the mac & cheese. The burgers were fine, but nothing special nothing to rave about. Honestly, a burger at five guys or red Robin would have been just as good. I'm not complaining it was just "OK" our daughter had the mac & cheese. She said it lacks flavor. The french fries that came with the burgers really nothing special. Not bad, but nothing to rave about. Her daughter ordered the chocolate cake. It was dry and I don't believe they made it. The place itself was nice. I can see it being a fun evening go out for drinks place but from a food point of view, it was just basic. Again our server was attentive however we ordered an iced tea and asked for a refill. When the bill came, there was two teas on the bill. I asked about that. She said yes you pay for each iced tea order. In this area? I did not agree. I started to ask for the manager. She said let me check and came back and said it's my mistake. The iced tea refills are free. So to summit it all up really just three stars. It's a great location though. I just am not sure when we will be returning.
