I dined at Grand View on a Tuesday evening with 3 other adults, a baby, and a toddler. We had a comfortable table that didn't feel crowded and the ambiance was nice. The mountain view outside the windows was gorgeous. Based on the ambiance inside the restaurant, it looked like a more upscale restaurant, which is why I can understand the dress code, but the vibe seemed quite casual. And I was surprised at how kid-friendly it was! There were multiple people there with little children. Our waiter was nice and attentive. For appetizers, we ordered the Trout Rillettes and baby gem salad. The trout was very creamy and the salad was underwhelming for $16... it may look big in the photo because of the angle but it was small and it reminded me more of a wedge salad. For dinner, I had the Seared Salmon with crab fried rice, it was underwhelming for the price, and my husband had the Seared Red Snapper and said it was "too fishy". He didn't finish it. We made a reservation and specifically requested window seating because the view is the main reason people come here. When we arrived, there were multiple open tables right by the windows. I politely asked if we could sit at one of them, and the hostess immediately shut it down, saying those tables were assigned to certain servers. That may be how things work internally, but as a guest, it should not feel like you are being denied something that is clearly available, especially when you made the effort to request it ahead of time. What stood out even more than the refusal was the attitude. There was no warmth, no attempt to accommodate, and no sense of hospitality just a cold, dismissive interaction. First impressions matter, and this one set the tone for the entire experience. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for it. My country fried steak was dry and lacked any crispness, like it had been sitting out for a while instead of being freshly prepared. The potatoes had the same issue dry, stale, and not worth the price. Nothing tasted fresh. I will say our server was kind and tried to do a good job, and the view is undeniably beautiful. But a great location cannot carry an experience when the basics hospitality and food quality fall short. At the end of the day, this is not just about one table or one dish. It is about how guests are made to feel. People spend their time and money here expecting a welcoming experience, especially when celebrating moments or simply wanting to enjoy the setting. THE VIEW WAS STUNNING! The mountains were melting all my stresses away and finally helped me relax. We asked to sit outside since the inside was so quiet and I'm so glad we did because the sunset view was so beautiful. All the food was flavorful and delicious we ended up coming back the next day for lunch. We tried the tenderloin and brownie for dinner. The steak frites and cheesecake for lunch. My only critique is the temp of the steak kept coming out different. We asked for medium rare and received well done. We really enjoyed our experience at Grand View restaurant. The place is definitely aptly named as the views are spectacular. We came for brunch and the food was pretty good, but not necessarily worth it for the price. I tried the breakfast burrito and my sister tried the eggs Benedict. Both were pretty good but not anything particularly noteworthy. The service was friendly but the kitchen was a bit slow (it took about 25 minutes for our burrito and Benedict to come out). We didn't complain though because we got to sip cocktails and take in the view. I guess overall, it's a great place to experience for a nice view and decent food, just expect to pay a bit more than you'd expect and accept that the food won't knock your socks off. read more

First, can I just say that the view at Grand View is absolutely beautiful. I mean, it really is a grand view (I included a picture of me in front of the view haha)!! It is so pretty we even witnessed an engagement! Magical doesn't describe it! Anyways... let's get onto the food and drinks. The drinks are as extravagant as the interior. They smoke the old fashions and use really pretty garnishes. They're really good and the bartenders are really kind and have great personalities. I will say, the only problem was that we didn't put in our food order for about 15 to 20 minutes after getting drinks. They're busy, but that is one thing to keep in mind! We sat at the bar for context. Either way, we enjoyed the bartenders and weren't too bothered! I think the main reason this is 4 stars versus 5 is the price of the food and the portions. I know this is at a resort and is quite fancy, but $34 for pea risotto (with no meat) is crazy. I make risotto at home and you can make at least 4 portions of this for that price on your own time. The pork belly was also dry. But the pesto was fantastic on the chicken pesto pasta. And the German chocolate tart was very decadent! I just feel like the pricing is a bit much for what you receive. First let me say, 5 star view!! If you've never been to Garden of the Gods it's worth going just for the view. Service was also great. That said, prices are premium and food was solidly in the "meh" category. We're not really "send it back" people but the tuna crudo was very low quality and we didn't eat more than a bite. The little gem salad was kind of a joke - just an uncut head of romaine with a few croutons and radish slices. The half chicken entree was decent but just not a $45 dollar entree. read more

My partner and I came in for sunset date night recently and were very pleased with our time here! The staff was able to accommodate an earlier reservation for us which was very kind. We were seated promptly and had excellent service the whole night from our server Sammy (Sami?)! Another disappointing resturant. I'm not sure what Colorado consider fine dining but the Grand View I would not consider one. Being from Southern California and have been to some of the finest and exclusive restaurants, I was truly disappointed. Especially since this was a treat on Mother's day. We walk up to reception. Theres no one there to greet us. We stood there for 5-7 minutes before a waiter noticed us and retrieved the hostess. We were a few minutes early and told we would be seated shortly, they were setting our table. The waitress was attentive throughout the evening, best part of the evening. She took our drink orders. I ordered from the bar. Unfortunately the martini I ordered wasn't very good. Although they offered to remake the martini I declined and settled for a brandy, no mixing involved. The waitress then brought bread baskets and took our food orders. My granddaughter and I ordered the half chicken and harmony grits; my daughter ordered the duck dinner: my son in law and grandson ordered the wagu beef dinner. As we waited for our meals and chatted and enjoyed the bread, the manager came over to inform us that they sold their last chicken dinner but they can offer us a chicken breast. My granddaughter declined and said she will just eat the smashed fingerling potatoes we ordered. I opted for the chicken breast. Our meals finally come out. I took a bite of the chicken and it was sooo salty, I couldn't eat it. My granddaughter loves salty food, she said it was too salty for her. The harmony grits were tasteless. No seasoning and needed salt. The texture was not pleasant to the pallet. So I asked my grandson for his broccolini but it was over blanched, limp and tough to eat. My granddaughter ask for more bread. They ran out of rolls and only had the sourdough. The fingerling potatoes were cooked in a cast iron skillet which was brought to the table. Potatoes were swimming in grease which took the crispness from the potatoes. I didn't enjoy them. Not all bad, the rest of the family enjoyed their food. But I'm not them I'm older and have experienced a lot more, especially living in Cali. Not saying they don't have taste, mine is just different. I will have to say the view was spectacular. The best part of the resturant. When calling your resturant fine dining, let's be sure the food is up to par and the bartender knows how to make a basic drink. Yes, the chicken meals were taken off the bill. Thank you. One last note. When guest take dessert home and it's ice cream and cake, I don't think the ice cream should be put on top of the cake for transport. The trout was well done, and personally I like mine a little pink in the middle, and I couldn't really taste the chili-lime glaze. * Kid's Rotini/Hot Dog ($10/$12) - 3 stars Very basic meals; the hot dog and bun were quite big. * Rotini Alla Vodka ($25) No rating as I didn't try this, but just noting that this dish had the exact same volume of pasta as the $10 Kid's Rotini. This meal was completely unforgettable! We were lucky enough to snag a table outside with the stunning views of Garden of the Gods at sunset. I didn't expect the food to be good, given that it doesn't have to be to bring in tourists with the view it has, but it was spectacular. The pasta Provençal blew my mind: the noodles were made from scratch, and the tomatoes marinated in tremendous garlic, butter and seasoning. The filet mignon was also perfectly cooked and hardly needed a butter knife to cut. Cocktail and wine menu are extensive as is the dessert menu. Granted the view here is amazing and the facility is beautiful but that's where it ends. I've eaten here twice for celebrations, a birthday and a bridal shower. Today was the bridal shower at brunch. We were seated outside at two tables, 9 people total. The waiter, Ron, asked for drink orders. Thirty minutes later those who ordered bloody Mary's, etc. got their drinks. One drink was delivered while we were taking photos but was set on the wrong table. It took us a minute to figure out whose it was. Finally we ordered food. Finally it came out. The service is soooo slow here. I got the lox and bagel, which I guess was good. The tomato desperately needed salt and pepper; there's none on the table and wait staff never came by to check how things were. Who makes anything with fresh tomato with zero salt and pepper? My neighbor got the quinoa and oats and ate maybe 1/4 of it. Others got the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was orange. Not sure what that was. We finally got our bills. I put $25 cash in the folder and Ron picked it up. About 20 minutes later he comes by and asks who had the lox and bagel. Dude, you took our orders! That's supposed to be part of being a waiter; knowing what everyone ordered. Anyway he comes over and in front of all 9 of us, says I didn't pay the bill and shows me an empty folder! I sharply, politely told him I put $25 cash in the there! He had an aha moment and walked away. No apology for embarrassing me. Now just where did that $25 go in the meantime? He didn't use it to settle the bill at the register. Did he think it was a tip? WTH? If you are staying at this resort do not for a moment think this is a great restaurant. You will be sorely disappointed. Locals do not eat here. We come here when we want to take nice pictures for some life event and unfortunately have to endure the high prices for mediocre food and service. Don't be fooled. Was very disappointed in the quality of food for the price that I paid. The high cost must be due to the view of the Garden of the Gods, but I do not think it was nearly worth it. My server was very sweet, but she did forget to put in our appetizer. I had to ask for it as we received our entree. The chicken on the chicken and waffles was almost all dark meat and just really unappetizing, and my waffle was cold. I think that only three tables being full in an entire large dining room as we were seated for brunch on a Saturday morning tells you everything you need to know. This place has SO much potential. My boyfriend made dinner reservations to celebrate my birthday during our Colorado Springs trip. Located inside Garden of the Gods Hotel, the Grandview offers dramatic views of the stand stone rock formations. We requested to sit outside to admire the view. Ok. Ill start off by saying we've only been here for Sunday Brunch. And you must know the menu is different from the typical breakfast any other day of the week. The first time here was for a birthday brunch & our service was less then stellar to say the least, which sas unfortunatedue to the celebration. We sat for at least 30 mins without being asked to take our order, our entire party watched as our waitress hung out at the kiosk & chatted with other workers including partaking in a LONG almost inappropriate hug from another co worker. While we sat & watched, hoping to get her attention I finally asked who looked like a manager walking by if we can place an order. He sent our waitress over who was clearly less then thrilled with us (which was Awkward). But the food & view made up for it, we just chalked it up to she was having a bad day. The second time around our waiter was a Gem! Sweet kid who was on point (so sad I dont remember his name...). Once again food was so good, we all passed our plates around in a "you must try this" fashion. The hostess took our information, then went to check on something. She came back and asked if we were club members or guests at the resort, and we said no. She went to check on something again, came back and typed on her computer for three or four minutes. She then told us that the kitchen is closing soon, so they could only seat us, but as long as we're willing to order our food within the next fifteen minutes. We told her that was no problem and she sat us at a table. We waited at the table for 25 full minutes with no one even filling our water glasses, let alone take our orders. We made eye contact with/tried to flag several waiters to no avail. After 25 minutes, we left. We mentioned to the hostess on the way out and said "Oh I'm sorry" but nothing beyond that. It might have somehow been an honest mistake, or it might have been a deliberate snub. Either way, horrible experience. read more

There are so many restaurant options in Colorado Springs that it's hard to choose when you're here for a short visit. But this place was named as best view, so I came - and it was that and more. So this restaurant is located inside the resort, it is the one open to anyone while the other is just for club members and resort guests. But this one def has the better view. Make reservations ahead of time, but for a Sunday night it was pretty sparse, so yay. But reserve a table by the window if you can. This is a high end restaurant and the service demonstrates that. I had an excellent server (Ryan, I think?) who was very welcoming and friendly. He was great at giving suggestions about the menu - I took him up on the German wine option, soup, and desert. The other servers all work as a team bringing food and drink. It's set up as a four course meal + dessert but you can get fewer than 4 courses. They are pricey and small, but I was actually quite full at the end of it all. Course 1: Lobster Bisque. Very good! Incredibly rich. Course 2: Scallops in brown butter with cauliflower and sliced almonds. The scallops melted in my mouth. But personally the flavor on the yellowed cauliflowers was meh. The butter was too much for me. Now, it might be fine for other folks! Course 3: Quail stuffed with wild rice and mushrooms. Now this was excellent! Wish I had skipped the scallops and gone for this. It is the full bird so watch out for some thin bones. T comes with a sauce but I thought the stuffing was rich enough I didn't want it. Course 4/Dessert: Chocolate dome. The mousse was sooo good. The vanilla bean ice cream - I wasn't a fan, and the crushed dried cake or whatever underneath it tasted stale. But the dome was super super good. Also: complimentary salmon pate thing (I forget name) and delicious bread and butter. The ambience is lovely. I loved the view and was there almost 2 hours for my meal and just savored it all. As you enter the room, you are literally in front of red rocks and have a front row sat to the ever changing weather. I really loved the bar here, and Jesus and Maria show their knowledge and hospitality. I had a vieux carre made with a local rye, and the addition of a small amount of coffee liquor was brilliant. The food menu is eclectic with some international dishes but also some unexpected old time classic. I started off with the spinach florentine soup, which was the first time in decades and thankfully lighter than what I recall. The charcuterie board is extremely generous and a great starter to split. The mushroom enchilada was probably the weakest dish, while the seared scallops with risotto was perfectly executed.
