Probably one of my favorite Filipino restaurants in San Antonio! Food here is freshly made and filled with so much flavor. On the weekends they offer a buffet for their food and dessert which doesn't disappoint. The variety is great so you are for sure bound to find something you like. As if the main course wasn't going to fill you up make sure you leave room for dessert. I can't remember the name of he dessert but it's purple and gelatin like...that one is a must try. Enough sweetness to end a perfect meal. I did notice they offer catering so if you want to order any of those dishes for a larger party, make sure to ask because the prices were reasonable. I'm not sure if every weekend they have some type of entertainment but we went on a weekend and they had a singer there. It was such a fun experience with good music, food and company. read more

The wife and I were looking for a place for lunch on a Thursday afternoon, specifically hoping to find something interesting and different. We did a quick Yelp search for Filipino food and found Deco Café Filipiniana near where we were at. From its exterior in a non-descript strip mall, Deco Café Filipiniana definitely didn't have much curb appeal. However, the magic was in its food and hospitality of the family-run restaurant. While my experience level with Filipino cuisine was extremely limited, I was not afraid to try something new. Since we came on a weekday, it was menu service. We were informed that they offer an AYCE brunch on the weekend. I ordered the Spicy Sisig ($10.99). I asked for water, but it was only available by the bottle ($1). True to its name, it possessed a nice but not overpowering or aggressive spiciness mostly coming from the thinly sliced fresh chiles scattered atop the sizzling hot pig offal and served with an over easy egg and a side of rice. The dish was an explosion of flavors across my palate. I came away happy with my choice. Deco Café Filipiniana perfectly fit our criteria for something interesting and different. It would be a place I'd gladly return. For my money and desire to try more dishes, though, it would be for their brunch. read more

Love taste and feel of real home cooked Filipino food here. You could definitely tell it's cooked by a regular Nanay, no fancy commercialized presentation nor mass produced after taste at all. Plus the wife of the owner was very warm and attentive to dining customers. Their weekend buffet is affordable, although drinks is not included it's still way better than other Filipino buffet around this area of San Antonio. Their food simply takes my back to memories of home cooking, minus the actual prepping, cooking and cleaning up since it's already in front of me, served buffet style. Glad Ramil and his family moved their Filipino restaurant on this area of Leon Valley, it's great to know there's always a place we could go to for authentic home-cooked Filipino food, without any gimmicks and fancy fusion ideas just to lure none Filipino diners. It's definitely just like visiting your Filipino friend's house and you get invited to stay for dinner. 3 stars because we ate here around 7pm on a Friday night. I just didn't like how all 4 of us dining were charged with a cover charge fee of $5 because it was Karaoke night. We were only planning to eat dinner and leave. So the paying an extra $5 for each person is pointless if dining only and not planning on staying til midnight to sing. They should change that part. The Friday night dinner menu was also limited. Not much to choose from. They did have some bakery items for sale which was nice. The food was good. The mang Tomas sauce which is a Filipino sauce they had on each table, was runny and watery. I will have to come back again on a buffet to reassess the restaurant on a different light. I just wanted to try the lumpia here. I'm sorry to say the Shanghai was not really meaty enough. It was tasting like Mushed/Puree inside the fried crispy wrapper! I had to dip it in their own house made version of sweet and sour Sauce. I'm going give them another chance next visit if I Travel through again and try the Adobo which I should have tried since it got some recommendations! We found this restaurant on Yelp and decided to try it out. There are lots of fresh and great food varieties. I liked the fried bananas, roast pork, sweet pork, and dessert items. Everyone was very friendly and they even brought out some chicken on a stick. Actually, this was one of the very few Filipino restaurants I have ever eaten at, so all of the food looked new to me! The pumpkin curry was super amazing good. There are several desserts, but my favorite was either the cassava, tapioca coconut, or tricolor dessert. If you have never tried Filipino food, this is a great place to start! There are all types of meat and vegetables to enjoy. It's a family run restaurant and fairly small. The food is in small batches, so it stays fresh. Some of the shrimp dishes did not taste as fresh, but it's difficult to keep shrimp at a high quality in a buffet unless they are deep fried. Skip the bubble tea, the boba are a little undercooked and the drink mix powdery. read more

Seat yourself restaurant, self serve drinks in the refrigerator you also get yourself. It's family owned, was only 3 real workers I saw, besides some of the kids helping out writing tickets and etc which is great! Teaching them early is the best way. The buffet was roughly like 20 different food entrees. I mostly ate the pancit which didn't taste authentic to me, but I love that they used excellent noodles instead of the thicker spaghetti ones. The Lumpias were mini bite sized, sadly they lacked of authentic flavor also. The fried pork and smothered pork was great also the chicken adobo was great. At times the food was almost empty and it took to long to be refilled, and I also would've preferred more traditional authentic tasting dishes rather than popular dishes but the experience was worth it. read more

From time to time, there are reviews that I write with some regret--this is one of them. My regret is based upon the fact that this is a family owned and run business and that everyone was so very nice and I cannot rate it higher. But I must report what I taste, so here goes. The new location is spacious with even a stage for live entertainment. We visited for lunch so the only thing on the stage (above it, really) was a TV blaring out what appeared to be a karaoke or some other contest. It's not that the music was bad; it was loud and difficult to hear my companion across the table. Plates and utensils are Styrofoam and plastic; fine by me. I found out, though, that there are metal forks and spoons and opted for those. Like the food, beverages are self-serve from the cooler. You must pay for water ($1.00) as only bottled is available. I can't fault DCF for lack of selection on the weekend buffet--there's plenty for every taste. And speaking of taste, that's where DCF falls short. I'm not saying that the food is flavorless, just that it's not flavorFUL. Take the kare-kare for example. The other versions I've tasted have flavors of coconut milk and peanut with a dash of curry. DCF's version tasted like an American beef stew; nothing spoke to me that this was something from the Philippines. And so it was with everything. Good food, well prepared but it didn't "float my boat," as we say in the Glorious South. The exception was the lechon kawali--it was excellent and made even more so by the sauce that was available. It was juicy, fatty, unctuous--you get the picture. And the skin had a satisfying crunch--always nice. Could this have been an off day? Of course but usually this shows itself in a dish or two, not across the board as we experienced. And because this restaurant didn't please my taste (which I fully admit is jaded), don't let that dissuade you from giving it a try--it might just be up your alley. read more

I was born and raised in the Philippines so I am very particular about Filipino food. Growing up I loved liempo and this place's lechon kawali just nailed me right in my childhood! Everything was really good and definitely affordable. I'm not sure if their goal was to be a carinderia-style place but it gave me that kind of vibe and that made it feel like I was back home just watching ASAP on TV because my grandparents or titas wanted to watch it and I had no choice but watch (and secretly enjoy) it, too. Sheryl was very accommodating and was always available to help out. She mentioned they just opened five months ago and this place seems promising. My husband, who's also Filipino but grew up here (and didn't start eating that much Filipino food until we first started dating), even said that he can eat here everyday! I tried the buffet Saturday after trying the sampler plate earlier in the week which was my first experience with legit Filipino food. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. The food was fresh and flavorful. The steamed rice and fried rice were fresh. The pancit was wonderful and the vegtetahbles crisp. The chicken adobo was tender and the lumpia perfectly fried. I especially enjoyed the turon. The sisig was a wonderful blend of spicy and sour. The standout here for me is the pork adobo. It is wonderfully cooked and very tender with the perfect amount of mild kick from the jalapeño. I will be back to try more dishes. read more

Came here on a Sunday morning for their buffet and although I've been here once before, I'd go elsewhere next time I'm craving for Filipino food. Here's my reasons why... Upon entering with a party of nine, we were told to seat ourselves. I felt that was the only time they made an effort to talk to us. Yes I get it, it's a buffet and you help yourself but we had to go up to them to ask for cups of water. Not once did they check on us, grab our dirty plates or asked if we needed anything. The selection is small for the price. If you drive further, there's another buffet for the same price of $10.99 with more options. I would've given this place a chance but customer service is my biggest thing. You can't run a restaurant with the people on their phones on the side by the register and the front door. The ONLY time they came to our table was to give our bill and that was halfway through our meal. I looked at it and noticed they charged us for bottles of water. I brought my own but they would've notice it wasn't theirs if they came to our table to check on us or given us water without having to ask. I gave this place a chance because they were friendly the first time but this time proved different. read more

My fam and I went for their saturday buffet. we were craving filipino food and wanted lots of options. This place did not disappoint! The lechon was crispy perfection and the pork sinigang (filipino tamarind soup) was so good I got an order for takeout. Bicol express was nice and spicy. They also had a good dessert selection including fruit and filipino desserts. Everyone who worked there was warm & welcoming. $11 for a very decent tasting Filipino buffet. Selections were not as plentiful as the Filipino buffet shacks in Houston, but the quality was just as good. In fact the luchon tasted better than anything I had in Houston, moist and semi fatty with crunchy skin. Also I couldn't stop eating the sisig which had just the right amount of heat. Wow. Where to start. We were lucky enough to check this place out on time with a weekend, buffet-style set-up. So, when I rate this a five, I'm literally saying it's all amazing. Pork adobo: perfection. Everything else is great! But if you're gonna pile three plates high of one thing, I'm gonna have to hand that to the pork adobo. Flan: amazing... it's not made like your typical flan, so prepare to be amazed. Boba tea: taro flavor, SO good! Punch full of flavor. Rivals Chok Dee in quality and selection. Great location, pretty central to town. For such a small place, they have an excellent selections from dishes - they hit all the major ones like kare kare, pinakbet, adobo, lumpia, pancit, dinuguan, sinigang, Lechon kawali, tosino, longanesa, and even some others I don't know the names of. Great selection of desserts too, they've got bilo bilo, kucinta, leche flan, puto, fruit salad, biko, sapin sapin, and cassava. We even got some halo halo (extra $4 not included in the buffet price but well worth it). They are super nice and family run. The little kids that bring out the bbq skewers are the cutest. Deco Cafe is another great reminder why I like Filipino food, which I think of as "Asian soul food." Today, Saturday, was my first visit. I came hungry and so was pleasantly surprised to see that they have buffets on weekends. Everything I tried in the buffet was fantastic. My only suggestion would be that they label their buffet items. I try to be visually descriptive in writing and that would definitely allow me to be. The food is authentic Filipino and very tasty. Price to portion is about right. They're proud to let customers know about their weekend buffet. Being a long way from home and homemade filipino food in NY, I'm glad this place opened up in San Antonio. I go here pretty much anytime I need my homemade filipino food fix! The food is fantastic - the real deal. I have my favorite dishes (sinigang, pancit), but make sure to try everything else they have during their lunch buffets and also on their menu for dinner - it satisfies for both meals. Theyve also catered a few dishes for a party, and it was a great success! The boba tea is just an added bonus to an already awesome eatery. Make sure to try their sweets too. Another reason this place rocks is the service - the dishes are served with warmth and love, and I always feel welcome here. After eating, its easy to just sit and enjoy your company, watch some filipino tv on the wall, or just sit and let the delicious food in your belly digest! So after my first experience, I went back on a weekend as suggested. Totally super glad I did. The food on the weekend was amazing. Full offerings and everything looked fresh, from all sorts of pork belly to lumpia to adobo to seafood paella, etc. I was much happier, because now they're labeling the food, and the food looked much fresher. A friend of mine described this as "advanced Asian" food. The fish still have their eyeballs, the shrimp paste incredibly potent and the cooked cubes of blood very authentic. So this is definitely not what I would recommend to the cautious friend wary of questionable organ meat or their food staring back at them. However for the adventurous eater - I would recommend a look at their weekend brunch. I came with a huge group of friends on a Sunday and the servers were very accommodating, albeit a little slow due to unexpected volume. But, there were a lot of people eating here so I think it must be very popular. It is a little old but it is a small, family owned business so none of that bothers me. As for food - well, for an advanced Asian eater, it was just ok. There was quite a lot of variety for a small restaurant, with vegetables, fresh fruit, many Filipino desserts, all kinds of egg rolls, meats, fish and noodles. I liked the pork and chicken adobo. They weren't fall-off-the-bones tender but the flavor was pretty good. I didn't eat any pancit but my friends really liked it, claiming it was incredibly flavorful for buffet noodles. I liked the steamed vegetables and fruit but I wish the dishes were refilled more often. We were at the restaurant for close to 2 hours during lunch and several of the dishes were never refilled so some of our friends didn't get to sample everything. Buffets should generally have all their stations filled as a rule I think. You can order off the regular menu as well, which has an extensive drink list (bubble tea!) and even halo-halo (Filipino shaved ice with a bunch of toppings). There were other desserts at the buffet but no one really liked them. They were a little bland, and unsuited for our sugar-addicted palates. But, kudos to Deco for having a large variety of Filipino desserts. Overall, I probably won't be coming back but for $10, this buffet might be a place you should check out if you like advanced Asian food. read more

$12 for buffet and not bad with the amount of choice they have..the Laing was pretty good (mustard greens,spinach in coconut milk), they have sisig and lechon and other dishes such as adobo. The dessert consist of biko(sweet rice cake) and Leche plan which was really good. I like the fact that this place is close to fort Sam /downtown San Antonio.its really hard to find a good Filipino or Asian restaurant in this area.
