Food was great and super authentic. The service is quick and the staff are friendly. The market sells all kinds of Asian I grew d snacks as well as Filipino food ready to serve. The only thing that's a little confusing is the menu. It seems they had set plates to order from and unless you've been there or speak Filipino you might not know what is allowed or how you can mix items. The place gets busy and if you're not familiar with the way the menu works asking questions can feel bothersome and you'll feel rushed. The prices are somewhat decent but it can get expensive. The food though is delicious and seating can be limited but it's definitely worth coming out here and trying the food. The place itself is a market but they section off the area you eat so if you're looking for ambiance this ain't the place. If you're looking for good Filipino food then definitely try it out.

M.Y. ChockDee is an oriental market that has a small Buffett style Filipino restaurant in the back. It's a decent size store with a good selection of oriental products. They do have Thai and Korean options like kimchi, Thai papaya salad, and frozen, dry, and baked goods. The restaurant itself gets pretty busy and crowded. It's an own space not a separate restaurant but they do have a few tables and chairs to dine in if you choose to. My husband said after we ate that he "felt rushed" and I agree! They have plenty of servers/employees all scrambling to serve the winding line of customers. It was our first time and fortunately we have eaten Filipino food several times so we kind of had an idea what we wanted to order. We got the $10.99 combo which comes with rice, pansit, lumpia and a choice of meat. I got a pork and veggies meat and my husband ordered the pork adobo for his meat. We also ordered tocino à la carte because that's my absolute favorite Filipino food. Overall, the flavor and food was good. Service was ok.. a bit rushed as I previously mentioned. From the market we purchased Ube sweet bread, papaya salad, cucumber kimchi and some coconut crackers. Pricing is very reasonable. Parking is limited. Overall good experience!

Came here for a late lunch after going to Randolph AFB. Right outside the gate. We also got some snacks to take home.

This place is a hidden gem! The food is delicious. We ended up telling our local fam and friends about it and now they go too. Can't beat this home cooking connivence store combo!

They put MSG on everything! I bought lumpia and fried chicken and it all went in the trash. First time in my life, I threw away fried chicken , lol. I don't know what they got going on but not for me at all. Sorry.

We were watching an episode of Texas Eats, and it was featuring MY Chockdee Oriental Market in Universal City. In all our time here, I've heard of them but never visited. So today was the day to check them out. There's a market portion of the store, and a restaurant/food portion where you can order food combos and some seating available. We had lunch there today. Hubby ordered the #1 Adobo Combo with garlic rice, pancit, veggies, adobo, and lumpia. I ordered the #8 Combo with longanisa, lumpia, garlic rice, pancit, and veggies. We also had 1 BBQ stick, lechon, and the ginata. Lumpia had a lot of meat in them and was crispy. The lechon was perfect! The chicken in the pancit was on the dry side. The best was the turon with langka, which was a banana lumpia with jackfruit drizzled with sugar. We didn't shop too much in the market section since there were many people in the store and there were lines forming both for the food and for the market. The busyness of this place reminded my husband of the Philippines.

I saw this on Texas Eats and was determined to give it a try. The service was excellent, and the location was great--right next to Gather Brewery. I can't believe we were so close all this time and never thought to check it out. The owner was friendly, the Singapore noodles were delicious, and the pork belly was tasty. Definitely glad I tried it...once!

Ask the Community - MY ChockDee Oriental Market

    Do they sell pork bun?

They do sell pork bun, but they run out early so if you want that, you need to make sure you go during the early part of the day.

What are the prices to order Lumpia Shanghai? 50 & 100 pcs? How late can it be made for pick-up?

Great question give them a call. They would love to hear from you. Tell them Jerry Bunville sent you. Also, they are very nice and they will make any package you like.

How is the food priced now? Is it $7.99 like it was for buffet?

    The combo plates are $9.99

    Is the buffet back?

Yes just yo do not serve yourself it is cafeteria style

Do you guys have the buffet?

    Yes. Weekend buffets are good,

Do you sell Balut and Vietnamese Coriander?

    No Balut.

Do they have hot fresh pandesal?

    No its packaged

Is there usually a long line on Sunday?

Long lines when all tables are taken. I recommend ordering takeout when there's no seating.

Will the food be labeled and say what is it like they do at Chinese buffets?

No it is not labeled but the cooks are present changing out food regularly and friendly/helpful and tell you what it is called, how it is prepared and ingredients .

Does anyone know if they have Senorita bread?

    I did not see any

Are there pricing for kids buffet?

Depending on the age of the child but there's no kids pricing but you could always share your meal with your child

What are buffet hours? how much is it? worth it?

Buffet hours are from 11am-9pm. Recommend going during the day instead of night only because it's way fresh. It's about 7.99 during weekdays, and 10.99 weekends and weekends have way more food then on weekdays, SO WORTH IT. The food is delish. Try…

I opened it 3 days ago and look at mold all over the bread. Also it was all breaking apart which was a reason I could not make some veggie wraps. I bought it on 2/14 afternoon. There was a date on one exp in April and the other one did not have any date on a package. $10 for both went to trash. Sadly it's not the first time I get rotten or spoiled product. A lot of the canned stuff, like different types of beans, isn't really any cheaper than what you'd find at places like H-E-B. Fruits and veggies looked pretty standard, but the prices were oddly higher than in regular grocery stores. They do carry some interesting sweets, and I always enjoy checking those out. Coffee, though, was more expensive compared to other international stores I've been to. What really stood out in a bad way was the attitude of the staff. No one was rude exactly, but they act like they don't really want to be there, and definitely not like they want you to be there either. Product-wise, no complaints. But the vibe from the people working there? Pretty unfriendly.

The frozen selection is amazing! They've got heaps of food that has been imported from afar to end up here under ice. There's a small produce selection that seems to favor plantains. If they don't have it fresh, they'll have it frozen. My favorite were the large African sculptures they were selling by the door. The clerk was friendly and said "hi" when I came in. The merchandise looked all pretty fresh. I wish there were some things to help explain what some of the ingredients and products were. It'd be nice if they had recipes or cards that explained that these items are snacks, and these are ingredients. But if I had any questions, the clerk was happily standing by to answer.
