My great grandmother took me to their original shop in the old Broadway Plaza center as a little girl and now I can bring my daughter to choose fresh (nob-toxic!!) soaps. This shop is a gem among the big box stores. If we as a community wish to have a vibrant and diverse shopping downtown, we must make the effort to visit and buy from stores like this. No one needs more brown boxes on their doorstep. It is the COVID era, I had not been out to a shopping mall in months. On a sunny, relaxing day I went to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. As I strolled around the renovated outdoor mall, I noticed a lovely gift shop next to Boudin bakery and Nordstrom. What caught my eye about DECORS DE FRANCE were the lovely French tablecloths and fabrics, handmade from France, adorned on the walls of the store from the window. My eyes glazed over to window displays of lovely scarfs, aprons and tablecloths over a Parisian looking table. It is if I could be looking into a cute Parisian fabric store in France. I dream of going one day, our vacation to Paris cancelled last year. I was tickled by the lovely smell of a mix of lovely scented soaps. I noticed scarfs that were made of silk, and some of Pashmir, with famous artists renditions such as Monet, Klimt, and Van Gogh. My eyes drifted me into the store, encompassed by all the giftware,and a lovely wall of Parisian soaps and umbrellas. I will let you know I was greeted by an amazing man named Arc. He walked me through all of the quality merchandise he sold, such lovely gifts all around the store. I wish I would have come before Christmas. I would have bought so much more. I ended up with a face covering of Gustav Klimt's "THE KISS", but I would have bought the scarf, it it was so popular it sold out. We had wonderful conversation about being out, making time and pursuing travel all around the world, esp. France. It was a brief but heartwarming conversation about how he and his family business emphasized that it is so much better to see people in person vs online shopping. He meets lovely people, and they have the chance to appreciate his gifts in person. I couldn't agree more. What's missing in other chain stores is the fact that they are often times so robotic. This French, family owned gift shop has truly nice gifts but what sticks out more? Handmade, heartfelt customer service. He wrapped my mask in paper and introduced me to his handmade soaps. I just loved the kindness. When you can, make it out to support local business, and if you can make it to Walnut Creek for that lovely beautiful gift from the most excellent shopkeeper, Arc. The owners are so pleasant, welcoming, and provide exceptional service. They always help me find exactly what I need. Their soaps are unique and the only bar soap I will ever use. What a wonderful place !!! The owner Karima, forgive me if I said her name wrong-is so sweet and wonderful. She spoke in French with me and took the time to help my incorrect verbs! She is so funny and kind and her products are wonderful! I ended up buying a beautiful lavender printed napkin cloth for my night stand and I bought some beautiful porcelain soap dishes and amazing lavender smelling soap. I am so excited to decorate my room! The products are all from France and I found myself entranced with the beauty and effort the owners put in the shop. I came in not knowing what I was looking for and came out with a beautifully arranged set of gifts for my fiancé. I went on a joint shopping expedition with my Dad in the last 1 - 2 weeks and had the pleasure of meeting Arc. Arc immediately recognized my father and had an excellent recollection of prior shopping history. The shop contains many unique items and is the perfect antidote to the impersonal and generic big-box retail experience. As I am writing this review it is nearly Christmas Eve 2019. If you are missing a gift for someone on your list and are having trouble generating ideas, especially for the ladies in your life, this is a very worthwhile destination. We picked up a variety of items from fun dish towels, to ornaments, a pillow, and a purse. The gifts were then wrapped with patience and care and as such consideration is so unusual in modern times I confess that I was caught a bit off-guard in the best possible way. I have the nicest things to say about our experience from start to finish. If you are old enough to remember the days of service-driven retail shopping you will find this charming shop very refreshing. If you have no idea what I am talking about then I recommend walking through their door and finding out. This is my first review on Yelp and I enthusiastically give Decors De France the full five stars. On other services I utilize the full review spectrum and largely consider perfect scores only in the rarest of circumstances. This is one! read more

Had to get this update out: Karima and Adj are now carrying (in limited supplies) the Soizick France hand painted porcelain collection, which I recently got introduced to. The color spectrum of these hand-painted collectibles is simply astounding. Too beautiful! Apparently Soizick France doesn't have a store (yet) in America, but these are apparently high-end collectibles, which are functional at the same time. I noticed a set of (hand-painted pink and green) dainty coffee cups in their store, and just couldn't get them off my mind. I did quite a bit of research online before investing in the set, and realized that these have been well-priced at Decors De France. As a once in a lifetime thing, I purchased the set along with a lovely pastel colored tea-pot. I got the first dibs on the items they are carrying, but there are more of those, available as larger sets which I couldn't find use for (and even more beautiful). It would be good to see them carry more of this line going forward.. Highly recommend checking their Soizick France collection. And for those that prefer the antique pieces, I was told by Adj that they carry the Quimper pottery collection! read more
