We visited for the first time on a Saturday at lunchtime. What shocked me honestly that a lunch menu doesn't exist!?! The entrees are dinner time prices $27-30/entree and $10/side dishes...my family is always excited to try new places so we ordered 3 appetizers. Fried calamari, cold antipasto, clams casino. Calamari fresh, tasty. Cold salad, not very exciting, clams not too bad. Now onto entrees. Chicken Marsala awful, flavorless lacked a personality. Penne a la vodka, average, veal Al La Nonna was flavorful (but $30?!) meatballs too dry and very compressed, marinara decent ($10/3meatballs) side of bolognese was included with meal was the only the only thing my husband enjoyed. Friendly staff, clean environment. However shame on them for opening at lunch and being greedy with the prices. We won't return anytime soon. read more

On first glance this place had 3 stars written all over it but it was much better than that! Apparently this restaurant has been here for a long time and seems to have a strong customer base. I went with my standard eggplant parm and it wasn't bad. It had egg battered eggplant rather than breadcrumb coating. It was pretty good but I do prefer a bread crumb breaded eggplant for the texture. The sauce was a little bland so a little salt would have done it a good job. The bread was good to start. My coworker got the seafood ravioli and he said it was pretty solid too. They also have dessert but we were stuffed. The outside seating was pretty cool with plenty of seats and spacing. This is your run of the mill italian place but glad to see it has been here so many years. I wish them the best! read more

Drove past DeCosta's many, many times and finally decided to stop in for dinner and I came away very impressed. Appetizer was the crab dip served with seasoned flat bread. I'd say it was more "cheesy" than "crabby," but nonetheless very good. Rich without being too heavy. A good dish to share. Eating a whole portion would likely ruin your appetite for the rest of the meal and you don't want that. My entree was a "veal siciliana" special which was essentially a hybrid veal/eggplant parm. Cooked perfectly. Not oily. The red sauce was delicious--just the right amount of sweetness but acidic and vibrant enough to cut through the fried veal and eggplant. Absolutely delicious. Subbed the potatoes and veggies for penne with a perfect Alfredo sauce. GF ordered the chicken Marsala which she thought was delicious. I only managed to get a small bite, though, as I worried I'd get poked with a fork if I tried to have more. Dessert was their white chocolate bread pudding in a rum caramel sauce. For those that don't like white chocolate, don't worry. Quite frankly, I didn't notice it. I'm glad we elected not to finish our entrees (lunch tomorrow) to save room for this. This will now be my go-to Italian in the neighborhood. The staff was attentive where so many aren't these days. Very fairly priced for the quality and portion sizes. Ordered dinner tonight w the Seamless app. Order arrived. Husband took bags from driver and bag broke immediately w hot liquid burning his foot. The driver ran to her car and said it wasn't her fault. He called the restaurant and was told once order leaves, it's not their fault. The restaurant packed the food. It is your fault. We are a 4 min drive from there. Unless the driver was hitting corners on 2 wheels, you did not pack our food properly. HORRIBLE customer service. Came here after searching for some decent food one evening. Hubby came across DeCosta's on a Yelp's best Yonkers restaurants. It's pretty close to where we live and surprising we never heard of it before. We parked in their front lot and were seated quickly. We chose a cozy two-seater in the rear to avoid any cold weather. Our server approached soon after we were seated and he was very nice and attentive. Hubbs had a vodka tonic and I had a malbec which was OK. We decided to share an appetizer of Eggplant Rollatini which was a decent size. We each had two with ample cheese and sauce and the flavour was very good; it was definitely not too heavy. Hubbs went with his favourite go-to Italian dish, Chicken Parm which was served with steamed veggies and a Potato and Cheese Croquette. He loved it and the portion was big enough to take the rest home. I wanted to stay light and went with their appetizer special, the Grilled Octopus and Shrimp, along with a hefty side dish of Sautéed Broccoli Rabe. The vegetable was the best part of what I ordered. The octopus was a little odd and the shrimp had that frozen taste; there's nothing wrong with frozen but when you can taste it, it's not the greatest thing. The octopus had an off-putting texture; it tasted overcooked and a bit rubbery. I wasn't very hungry anyway so I had a couple of bites of hubbs' meal and was OK. I've been yearning for a taste of Italian cheesecake for sooo long and when I saw they had one that was housemade, no less, I knew we had to share an order. I was hoping for a looser consistency but it was denser, like a traditional NY cheesecake. This is not what I wanted. It was way too heavy but we had a few bites and made the most of it. We also shared their Kahlua & Bailey's Cappuccino which was very nice and velvety. The service here was good, although the food could have been a little better. We probably won't be back but it's nice to try new places closer to home. read more

4.5 star average -- what could go wrong? We had been here a number of times in the past, and something not for the better has happened. Just about everything at our dinner was below expectations An $11 Caesar Salad of very minimal size, slapdash presentation and no flavor, not even a smidge of shaved cheese. They took it off the bill but still...If you think about it, is there anything on a restaurant menu that has a better profit margin than a few leaves of Romaine sprinkled with dressing and shaved cheese (if you are lucky)? And what can you do to fried zucchini appetizer? Extract the flavor and accompany it with a marinara sauce even more bland. The main dishes were mediocre at best (potato croquette stale tasting and veggies blah), not good compared to similar restaurants in Westchester and the Bronx. Elsewhere we go next time. Regarding the owner's comment, I may have gotten the price wrong by two bucks, but you are the Italian restaurant at Midland and Yonkers Avenue, right? I stand by my review, sorry. While traveling around on our day off, getting ready for our next trek to Atlantic City, NJ for Mother's Day weekend, my wife and I spotted this little out-of-the-way place in Yonkers and decided to come in and give it a try for a late lunch. It was one of the best decisions we made that day! This place is a gem of a place serving up some great Italian food. The place is small, but the food and service is huge by my standards. We were seated quickly and given our menus. While we browsed through the menu we were given a assorted bread basket. Our drink orders arrived (1 frozen Margarita for me and one on the rocks for my wife) and we placed our orders. My wife ordered the Capellini Crab Meat & Shrimp in a creamy Vodka sauce. I ordered the Grilled Pork Chops with Broccoli Rabe and Mushrooms. Both meals were extremely good. The food was cooked perfectly. My chops were delicious and the combination of broccoli rabe and mushrooms really made the dish. My wife's pasta dish was equally as good as mine. The pasta was not overcooked and the crab meat and the shrimp were cooked perfectly! After two slices of cheesecake and two cups of coffee later, my wife and I left DeCosta's quite satisfied and happy with the fact we just discovered a new out of the place way to get some great food. read more

The food here is outstanding. We went to Decostas on Thursday evening and were extremely pleased with everything about the experience. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The owner's young son, Tyler is a good compliment to the staff. There were three of us and we started with the eggplant rotalini and the portabello mushroom. For entrees, Two of us had the Chilean Seabass with clams and mussels while the other had the Capellini with lobster and seafood. The meals were good portions and extremely good. The buffalo mozzarella amd clams casino were great.The veal chop was a bone 2 inches thick with a Madeira and porchini sauce. Even the potato croquettes and veggies were equally as a special. Our server as well as the owner came by several times to see if we needed anything and where we happy with their meals. Happy is an understatement we were ecstatic! Found it by scrambling last minute to find a nice place to eat with the significant other tonight. It's a very nice cozy place, the waitstaff paid careful attention, were very friendly. The food was brought out quickly, and was pretty good. I had myself a chicken marsala, very nice portion and tasted really good. Prices are good, a dinner for two with an appetizer & two desserts, and 1 drink each will run you a total of $80-ish. The only thing(but not a major problem) seems that this is an older crowd, with many regulars. Around 40+ in the age, but like I said, did not really seem to be a problem. DeCosta's is amazing! Every meal the family & myself had here always sweeps us off our feet! Some of my personal favorites are the Lump Crab Dip appetizer, definitely a must! Any of the entréés will be sure to wow, including some specials like the crab cakes which were freshly made to order! You can't come here and not have the famous bread pudding for dessert, I love mine with a scoop of ice cream on top! The service is impeccable, as soon as your seated, you are greeted with water & fresh bread with butter. All in all this place is a solid 10/10, and a must visit, definitely my favorite restaraunt which makes me feel at home as the owners are usually on premises interacting with everyone and you can feel the love & passion in the food! Lastly, I love the good conversation about fishing while enjoying my meal, as the owners are avid fisherman and also have an amazing tackle shop in Rye, called Tyalure be sure to check both places out!! read more

For 11 years I've been passing this place saying, yeah I have to stop in. It's sitting right on Yonkers Ave at the Cross County Exit. Finally I decided to go. I'm sure glad I did too. It's an intimate place with good parking. I was seated quickly and couldn't wait to try something. I ordered the fried calamari to start off. It was nice and crunchy with a delicious marinara sauce to go with it. The portion size was good, enough for two. Luckily I had a friend with me. For my entree I ordered the Veal Sorrentino. It was so delicious! You get 3 veal medallions covered in prosciutto, eggplant and mozzarella with a brown sauce. It was tender and melted in my mouth. Wonderful dish! The entree also came with a potato croquette with a bit of cheese in it, as well as zucchini and carrots with roasted garlic. I made sure to save room for dessert and got a very tasty tiramisu. That was a perfect way to end a phenomenal meal. Service was very good and the place itself looked clean and welcoming. Can not wait to go back. read more

Anniversary Celebration My family had dinner at this restaurant today. Besides our usual appetizers we ordered the lump crab dip. It was delicious! I ordered Capellini with Crab Meat & Shrimp. I don't usually order capellini at any restaurant. I asked the waiter if the chef will cook it al dente. He assured me that he will. I'm not a fan of red sauce on any type of fish. When it was served I immediately had a negative thought to myself. Was I mistaken. The sauce complemented the dish. It did not overpower the crab and shrimp. This dish was bursting with flavor. "Handmade" pastas, Google said, and 4.5 stars. Amazing! Uh, no. Calamari was good, $12 salad was mostly way underdressed iceberg lettuce. Pasta dishes tasted like the person who made them has never had decently seasoned Italian food. Bolognese was bland and acidic, white clam sauce was boring and lacked basic salt and pepper. The pasta was most certainly from a box, so they should really correct their description on Google! For the $100 I spent, we could have gotten a fantastic, flavorful meal elsewhere. Typically I'm not one who writes reviews on Yelp but in this case I felt compelled to make an exception. I was born and raised in Florence, Italy and genetically food happens to be an essential part of my life. After almost 2 decades living in Manhattan I moved to Yonkers. There's no shortage of good, great or even excellent Italian restaurants in Westchester county but when I found De Costa's it has become my absolute favorite. This establishment distinguishes itself from the rest for ALL the right reasons...it simply isn't your typical average "Italian restaurant" and truly everything that makes it such an "individual" place also makes it exceptionally unique. Over the past 3 years I have been nothing but delighted with every single dish I have ordered. What Nuno and Pedro have created with this establishment isn't simply another GREAT Italian restaurant, they have really gone above and beyond. They've somehow managed to harmoniously integrate part of their own family's culinary traditions alongside staples of Italian food and even found space for a number of gastronomic treats which (literally) can "only" be found at De Costa's. If I were to begin listing my favorite items from their menu or from their constantly innovative amazing specials by Chef Arnold & his team...this review would go on far too long and certainly exceeding the limits imposed by Yelp! If you live the area or simply are passing by, whether for lunch, dinner or simply for an aperitivo (Italian for having cocktail and something delicious to nibble on....I guess that's what on this side of the ocean is called "happy hour" ) please do yourself a favor and make sure to drop by De Costa's. A quiet small restaurant located on the corner of Midland and Yonkers Ave. I've been here a couple times and I always have a good time, whether on a date or here with family. My sister had her bridal shower here and there's a private room in the back. They even let us decorate it the way we wanted to which was nice. Everyone that worked there was amazingly friendly. The food was good too. We had family style food which I remember came out nice and hot and the chicken francese was delish! I am always fully satiated when I go to Decosta's. I have been here on several occasions and always is it a wonderful experience. The cosy/comfortable ambience is nice for a casual or intimate date, or for small/large gatherings. The owners are real upstanding and gracious people if you get to know them. The food is super delicious, I love Italian food. I recommend the capellini with crab meat and shrimp if you like seafood and pasta. It is a one of a kind dish that is hard to find at other restaurants and I keep ordering it because it is soooo tasty, never fails. Their calamari appetizer is also quite amazing.. which says a lot about the joint lol. I know others who have ordered a variety of things from the appetizers and main entrees and reallly raved about them. If you like or want to try italian food, you should definitely check it out. Very simple and cheap italian cuisine in yonkers. This place has been open for a while and ive only had dinner there twice but both times i left stuffed and happy with my food and service. They have the traditional italian cuisine choices nothing crazy or revolutionary but good filling meals. Decent wine/liquor choices and nice dessert menu. The waiters are all very pleasant and the owner was a delight. They have pasta night and other events i would definately eat here again when im in the area. read more

Italian food is not my favorite food however eating here at Decosta's Restaurant made me change my mind about Italian cuisine. I had tortellini with alfredo sauce and friend of mine had a chicken parmigiana. First of all, we got huge servings, and the food plating was very pleasing for the eyes. The chicken meat was tender, the tomato sauce wasn't acidic, it was just right. My food was delicious, as well. The servers are very is attentive. DeCosta's is a clean and simply elegant place, without the posh accent. I will, definitely, come back and bring more friends. read more
