My boyfriend & I went for the first time on Friday, November 7th, and we were delighted to discover upon entering the place that Reno's had live music (a piano player)! I ordered one of the specials, pasta funghi (pasta with 2 different kinds of mushrooms) which was heavenly & my boyfriend had another special, grilled swordfish, which was perfectly cooked. We also shared an arugula gorgonzola salad which had a wonderfully light dressing (my boyfriend usually doesn't like dressing on his salad, but he commented on how good it was). The food was outstanding, expertly prepared and the presentation was lovely. The service was attentive but not intrusive -- perfect. We were not rushed at all. My daughter in law told me about this place so me being the foodie that I am I had to try it especially since it's close to home. The first night I went I had the penne all vodka - it was very good, not too dry and a good amount of sauce (some places are stingy with the sauce lol). On Saturday I had to try them again and had the chicken parm with spaghetti - OMG I'm in heaven! I have to say it was one of the best I've every had. The only downside was there wasn't enough spaghetti for me (yall know I'm greedy lol) but it was sooo good. Can I say that the owner is vey nice - he showed my granddaughter "tricks"with the lights on his Christmas tree and was very charismatic. He said he's been there 17 years. We just ordered from Reno's tonight and it was very good. I've been reluctant to get delivery from new places because we're often disappointed but I do have to say that the delivery time was reasonable, the food arrived hot and it tasted really good! We had penne vodka, minus the prosciutto (my pork run is over), and they made it exactly as I requested. We also had fettuccine alfredo with chicken which was tasty but could have used a bit more chicken. We also added a side of sautéed broccoli rabe with olive oil and garlic which was extremely oily but is to be expected and kind of a bonus since they sent a huge chunk of crusty bread to round out our meal. There was definitely enough for tomorrow's dinner so I'm off the hook with cooking this weekend. I would definitely order from them again. Our one peeve with this experience was the fact that despite our delivery profile request that our doorbell not be rung because we have a baby and dogs that bark, the delivery guy called us to say he was outside with our order and then STILL rang the bell. Love the traditional ambiance of this neighborhood restaurant. There was a live singer on Friday night. Obviously a local because he knew everyone. We were seated right away in the main dining room and attended to quite well. Staff very friendly and checked on us at a good pace. They served us a generous basket of Italian bread along with 3 pieces of foccacia. Some dipping oil would have been a nice touch. We ordered a mussels appetizer with spicy marina, seafood pasta, broccoli rabe, and the home made spinach cannnelloni. The mussels were okay. Our mistake in thinking the sauce would be thick versus soupy. Taste was fine. The cannelloni was very good. The pasta was tender and the sauces were very good. The broccoli rabe had delicious slices of garlic and was swimming in olive oil. The pasta was presented well but just okay. The calamari was over cooked. Oh, and we ordered dessert to go. Impressive dessert menu. We got a cannoli and a slice of ricotta cheese cake. I hadn't had ricotta cheese cake so it seemed too wet. I ate the slice and grew find of it. Cannoli was very good. Crunchy shell filled with ricotta and chocolate chips. It was not overly sweet. We are visiting from out of state so we can't come back. I'd visit again if the opportunity were to come up. read more

It is very hard to find those ole style nostalgic Italian restaurants that serve the potato croquet and veggies or a side of pasta with their dishes. That's when you know you found a gem. Really shocked with all the 4 or 5 star reviews. While the food is decent and not the worst Italian food I've had, it is NOT authentic Italian food by any means. I've ordered from here twice and tonight will be the last time. The first time I ordered from here I wasn't too impressed but gave them the benefit of the doubt and reordered again tonight. While the food seems "fresh" and was not by any means bad, I was not blown away, and disappointed at all the claims from reviewers that this place is "authentic". Tonight, for example, I ordered a classic chicken parmigiana. It was so basic and I was really disappointed with the tomato sauce. It came with string beans and a potato croquette that you can get in the freezer aisle from your local grocery store. I ordered a couple of salads too and a side of spaghetti. All the food actually reminded me of food from a catering hall. There are far way better "authentic" Italian restaurants in Westchester. Skip this place if you're looking for the real deal. This week I attended a holiday dinner at Reno trattoria Italian restaurant and bar on Lockwood Avenue in Yonkers New York. Apparently it was a prefixed offered by the union that was paying for the employees dinner. As a retiree, there were several of us invited, but we're not included in the prefixed for whatever reason they would not say . We were planning on paying our portion, but expected it to be as everyone else's was. We were told we had order off the menu. And we did. Mind you we all sat mixed in with the working employees. When the bill came and we were handed individual bills at the end of the evening. Ok I was expecting to pay for just what I had ordered. Reviewing my bill I was charged for my meal and an additional $14.95 for an appetizer that was placed for the "pre fixed" price on the table where I was sitting. To add insult to injury it was embarrassing to have the Hawkeyes staring us down throughout the meal, they would have seen I did not eat the appetizer. Therefore, I should not have been charged for something I did not indulge in nor did I order. When the bill arrived, I put the cost of my meal and the tax in the folder. The waiter came over and told me I owed them for the appetizer that I did not eat. All I did was ask that they wrapped it up for the others who participated in the prefixed meal instead of throwing it away. I was very disappointed the way I was treated so disrespectfully. Grew up in Beantown, but have been a Yonkers resident since 2002. Great local family restaurant. I've had birthdays, communions, and graduation parties there. Reno is always on site and the staff is attentive. But... the food is even more wonderful. Please try the homemade pasta dishes! I was spoon feeding myself the residual sauce by itself after the ravioli was in my tummy. Ron plays the piano on most Friday nights and is an encyclopedia of music. Reno's also has special nights with opera and Sinatra nights. A lot of fun with wonderful food. I used to go into the city for dinners with my wife, but no need anymore. read more

Wow! Reno's is one of the best little Italian spots. I had my baby shower catered from Reno's and there was nothing left over. Everyone ate and most people had seconds, if not thirds. Reno even supplied the equipment to serve and keep warm. I was so happy with the food that I had a party here earlier this year (before COVID-19) and I was thoroughly impressed. Reno and his staff took care of us and made sure everything was perfect. The set up was comfortable and beautiful and everything we discussed when we booked the party was executed perfectly. It was a pretty good place. I mean don't get me wrong, my family comes here almost every year on the holidays. The food there is still great, but it has changed when I came back here last weekend. I ordered the veal chops al gorgonzola that night. It tasted delicious, but the presentation looked a liiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit messy. It also came with a side of roasted potatoes and string beans too, with got my satisfied. I will always come here with my family almost every year on the holidays, but not when my grandmother tries to force all of the restaurant employees to cook her whatever's NOT ON THE MENU like she's some entitled queen. The delivery service was horrible. The driver called me and said he was outside in the front and to let him in, I went ahead and buzzed him in while still on the phone with him. I asked the driver repeatedly if he was at the right address because I would have heard the buzzer at his end of the line. I also told the driver that I could not go outside to look for him, because I was by myself with my three month old son. The driver stated he was outside the correct address. We would continue to call back and forth for five minutes with me buzzing him in and him stating he was at the correct address. I called the restaurant and they were NO help. The restaurants response was "call yelp customer service." When I called yelp, the wait time was long and I hung up the phone. The driver finally realized he was not at the correct address and admittedly came to the correct address. By the time he arrived my food was cold and soggy. I was very disappointed. I got the calimari (which was not that great) and veal in Marsala wine. I just ate the food because I was hungry. read more

Fantastic food and service! What a gem! I loved the hand written (on a chalkboard) menu and crisp table linens. I walked in starving and grumpy. Lo and behold! I was greeted by a sweetheart hostess. Now mind you, I've been a solo diner for over 45 years. I can guarantee you not too many restaurants appreciate having a single. But that didn't matter. She seated me at a lovely 4 top with a great view. And then Reno himself arrived with that scrumptious menu. I started with zucchini flowers lightly breaded and stuffed with yummy cheese. The accompanying siracha based dipping sauce was a perfect addition. Perfect timing by Reno and the hostess added to the great ambiance. The amazing appetizer was followed by a wonderful linguine with clams. Seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection with a well balanced combination of flavors: garlic and butter leading the way. This was the first post pandemic meal we had. We were driving around looking for some food when we came around Reno's. We were lucky enough to meet Reno himself and he was extremely kind. The food in itself is delicious, fresh and comes in big portions. You can't leave this place without trying their oysters, they are huge and extremely fresh. Truly some of the best we've had. Their focaccia bread was also to die for. The true star of the restaurant is it's service. From Reno to his staff, they all make sure that you're well taken care of and that everyone is social distancing. It felt so good to live in a post pandemic world where owners like Reno ensure all proper protocols are followed. At the end of the meal, he was even nice enough to offer us some drinks in the house. Went with my neighbor who wanted to take me out to dinner. While the neighborhood isn't particularly much to look at, the food here is very good. The mussels my neighbor had and the polenta dish I got as appetizers were delicious. The fruitti di mare that we had afterwards and was better than the one I had in Italy. The seafood was clearly fresh and a healthy size to the point that we were able to split a plate. What made the meal was the bottle of Castelvecchio that made the meal complete. A good medium wine that went with our meal. Needless to say, I was very happy here. Outside of the food being incredible, I don't have a lot to rate, which is the reason for the conservative rating, since we didn't sit in the dining room and the owner who came out to talk to my neighbor, so I felt like we were in a more casual environment. We have been to Reno's several times and last night was "Opera Night" which was fabulous! The special dinner menu was delicious with lots of choices for appetizer, entree and dessert. And then the show began and it was splendid. Each singer brought his or her personality to this intimate setting and we all felt part of an incredibly magical evening! I ordered catered food for a small family party for Monday. During the summer, Reno's is closed on Mondays so I picked up the food the night before. Everything was prepared and I heated up the food the next day and it was absolutely delicious. They provided the sternos and the racks (racks must be returned) and explained everything in detail. Me and my husband went today to Reno's. It was our first time there. Everything we had was amazing. I got a pasta was with broccoli and garlic sauce with some kind of cheese " I forgot what's the name since everything was in Italian;)" and it has sausage on it and I was able to change it to chicken. My husband had Fruitti Di Mare which was cold seafood salad and was amazing. Last We ordered dessert, Tiramisu for me and espero and my husband got Torta Nonna( Grandma cake) We had a wonderful chat with the staff and Reno the owner. They were all kind and friendly.
