Italian food is tricky for me. As a full-blooded Italian I grew up on the food and I find most of the local places to be not as good as my mother or grandmother's cooking. This place is an exception. The food is outstanding and a true taste of Italian cuisine. Everything is fresh, the pasta is perfectly prepared (something a lot of places mess up and a culinary sin that I can not condone), the seafood is the best in the area, and the bread is always warm and constantly flowing. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the interior is warm and homey, if a bit small. Parking can be interesting in the tiny lot, but its worth it. The waitstaff is superb and everything is always great. The desserts are also delicious. This is one of my "go-tos" for true Italian and the prices are reasonable, too. read more

We went to DeCosta's for a family meal and we were VERY disappointed. When I received my chicken parm, there was a long black hair in it. My hair is brown. We alerted the waiter and he quickly grabbed my plate and apologized. My new plate came out after my father had finished his meal and my mother was struggling to get though hers. She ordered spaghetti carbonara, which should have a silky creamy sauce. Instead, she got clumps of scrambled eggs nestled in her pasta. We received the check, which was $80, for three of us and there was no attempt to rectify the hairy situation. Normally I wouldn't have said anything, but considering two of our meals were about $20 a plate and horrible, I spoke to the manager. When I told him that it was generally good business to offer some sort of apology like coffee or dessert on the house, his response was ,"You didn't ask for coffee." When I explained that the spaghetti carbonara was inedible, he said, "That's how it always is." Yuck. I explained that between the hair in the food and the scrambled egg carbonara, he should have extended some sort of an olive branch. He looked at me like I had ten heads. After some more conversation, eventually he agreed to remove the scrambled egg meal from our bill. I was extremely disappointed with their complete lack of customer care or service, especially since their food was a C at best. I get having an off night with food, but not caring at all about a customer and their experience just irritates me. I will never go back there and I recommend if you're in the mood for italian food, go somewhere else. read more

I called in a takeout order on October 30th around 2:30 pm for chicken francese and seafood ravioli with a side order of potato croquettes. When I picked up order, restaurant was empty, except for one male customer eating at bar. My order was $43.00 for 1 piece of chicken francese with a side of penne and 5 seafood raviolis. Went here for lunch with a friend. Small hole in the wall I have always wanted to try in Yonkers but now I wish I had left it more of as a mystery than a bad memory. Ordered the lunch half sandwich and soup combo. I had the tortellini soup which was clearly microwaved as the soup was luke warm and the tortellini tasted frozen. I had a great time at DeCosta's tonight, as soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. Everyone wore masks and they cleaned and sanitized the tables when customers left. I had a 1 year memorial dinner honoring my mom at DeCosta's yesterday with 14 family/friends. I had a pre-fixed menu consisting of eggplant rollatini, mozzarella carozza, cold antipasto, rigatoni bolognese, penne carbonara with an entre choice of shrimp scampi, chicken piccata and pork alla nona. The food was incredible. The house white and red wine were good and the desserts of cannoli and tiramisu were so tasty. Pedro, Lisa and David offered exceptional service. My guests couldn't stop raving about how good the food was. I will definitely be going back. My husband's family is from Yonkers and some of my extended in-law family has been coming here for decades. Going out for Italian is not something my husband and I do on the reg because I'm not a big fan, but this place is fabulous. I've been here twice in a span of five years, once for a baptism and once for a funeral luncheon, and both times were superb. I had to be rolled out of there both times. For today's luncheon, I had a very berry martini which was fantastic. The bread and the thin, seasoned crackers are so addicting. The antipasto salad was great, plenty of meat and cheese to satisfy this omnivore, and the Caesar salad with fresh croutons was also good. I really liked the shrimp scampi, and the chicken scarpariello was amazing. After passing by this spot maybe 100 times in my life and not eating here, I made the reservation for dinner following the glowing reviews on Yelp and Google. Very important to me was the handmade pasta fact. We ordered the breaded mozzarella and calamari for appetizers. Calamari was perfect in that it wasn't greasy or heavily breaded. very nice. We ordered the seafood Pescatore, Eggplant, Cheese Ravioli, the shrimp and crabmeat Capellini for entrees. Everyone loved their meal, and service was very good. This spot is small and quality is high, so I would recommend a reservation, especially on or near the weekend. The wine was great, the service excellent and the food fantastic. I went here with my boyfriend on a calm Sunday night. We had pretty solid expectations for the restaurant because of the reviews, and I can honestly say that it met our expectations. The service was great, every team member works hard and helps each other out. The food was awesome. I had the chicken parm with a side of spaghetti as it is my favorite classic Italian dish. I can honestly say it was the best chicken parm I have ever had. The chicken was cooked to perfection, the crunchiness of the toasted bread crumbs, mixed with the savory sauce was awesome. My boyfriend enjoyed his veal also. I had the chocolate lava cake and it was warm and sweet and decadent. I also had a cappuccino which they offer with a little stick of rock sugar that melts into the coffee. I thought it was a really neat touch. I've tried this place about six years ago and must say it's still a great Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is nice and the waiter was attentive. We ordered the rigatoni siciliano which had eggplant on top. Also the capellini crab meat and shrimp. Very good dishes but didn't get that 'WOW this is delious' feeling like some other Italian restaurants.
