His price was reasonable and lower than another estimate from another roofer who has done a lot of work in our neighborhood. His team did the work well and on time. They cleaned up well after each workday. The best part I think is that Tyler is an owner/worker who was with his crew everyday and gets his hand dirty besides making sure that work is done properly. What I wanted ideally was a system that would automatically power our home in the event of a power failure. I initially looked at generator systems, but discovered several downsides to that technology. Generators need fuel, which could be be gasoline, diesel, or natural gas. Of these, natural gas was the most attractive, but that would require significant trenching for a new line around the house. In addition, placement of a generator was a problem, due to zoning requirements. Also, gasoline/diesel/natural gas generators have an internal combustion engine, which needs maintenance, like oil changes. The best solution for me was to have a battery backup system installed. This type of system is also known as a "power wall." Shelter recommended a 2-battery system made by FranklinWH (WH stands for Whole House). The batteries are 15 KWH each, for a total of 30 KWH. In our case, this is sufficient to power our home for 24 hours, even during the summer when we are using the central A/C. Other times of the year, 30 KWH would power everything for 48 hours or more. Since installation we have had several power failures, ranging from a few minutes to several hours. In all cases, the backup system kicked in so quickly that didn't even notice. We didn't even have to reset any clocks. When then grid power comes back online, the batteries recharge automatically. Shelter did a great job of understanding what we wanted, and provided an excellent solution. We had a very minor issue that we noticed several months later, and Shelter responded immediately to remedy the issue. I recommend Shelter Roofing and Solar without hesitation.

Jason was the one that came out and he did a smaller system quote for me and my wife. Jason couldn't for the life of him tell me how the system was even more expensive than not using a prepaid ppa. I was also ignored by phone calls and "I'll get back to you" was what he told me. I would stay away and use some other company that is very clear about how the new incentives work.

I know reviews can be shill/fake reviews, but these all seemed legit. They have someone answering the phone. No voice mail. Once we were under deposit, Cody came to our home to tarp two vulnerable sections of our roof before a rain storm. Once they started working, they moved efficiently and quickly. One crew strips and cleans your roof. Followed by a carpentry crew who replace any bad wood. Then the roofers come and lay down a double layer of paper and then install the tiles. They work cleanly and they work hard. Lastly, they brought our roof up to code by adding attic vents and installing a bunch of vents that we need, but which our previous roof was missing. Statewide roofing earned this 5 star review!

One of the projects involved plumbing concerns, which became more urgent, so we decided to have our regular plumber handle that portion separately. I reached back out to revise the scope of work down to only two projects. Surprisingly, the updated quote for two projects ended up being more expensive than the original quote for all three. When I questioned the pricing, I was told the original pricing was only lower because the work had been "bundled." A few days before the scheduled appointment, I asked whether it would be possible to push the work back by one day due to a busy client schedule at our business. He declined and instead suggested an entirely different date that worked better for him, which delayed the project even further from the original timeline. We agreed in an effort to remain flexible. He later requested a deposit, which was understandable. However, because this was for our business, I requested a detailed written quote and W-9 form so our accounting department could properly process payment. Despite multiple requests, he was unable to provide the documentation needed, and communication became increasingly delayed and inconsistent. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable moving forward and decided to cancel the project. His response afterward was extremely unprofessional, to the point where I ultimately blocked further communication. We ended up hiring another handyman who completed the same work professionally and for nearly 50% less than his quoted pricing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this handyman to other business owners looking for professionalism, transparency, and reliable communication.

For this job, I had also asked to have a custom window casing and deep windowsill built. We needed a new roof and after receiving five different bids, we chose DecoTal. The price was reasonable and the quality of work and extra attention to detail made them our first choice. Ophir was able to explain the process in detail and had a skilled electrician who could remove our solar panels then reinstall then after the roof was complete. The job stayed on schedule and did not go over budget. We even added additional improvements like recessed lighting in our living room, kitchen and bathroom. They even installed a new exterior door!
