The fries were very good and easily beat the other fries I saw at the festival. However, the ribs were just ok. They did fall off the bone, but they were pretty bland. My friends' group has an ongoing fondness for this place. The past two times, there were 7 of us in a group, looking for food after a movie, and the nearby Bob Evan's had turned us away because our group was too big. Dee Jays to the rescue! The staff were friendly, the ambiance was laid back and not noisy, and the food was as good tasting as it looks in the picture! My pulled pork sandwich had plenty of tender, savory meat, and the table had two different bottles of Dee Jay's BBQ sauce to choose from. The unique curly steak fries had a nice outer crunch contrasted by a soft smooth interior... I don't know if they have some sort of unique spiral cutter to fry potatoes on the premises, or if there's a more complicated manufacturing process, but honestly the result is yum. It looks like they host events sometimes, and there was a fun huge prize wheel, so I think with a little planning ahead a visit to Dee Jay's could be a fun evening in addition to good food. read more

Finally, I tried this place via Doordash and was impressed. We had ordered 3 crispy chicken sandwiches with sidewinders. We had a great meal and experienced here. From the crisp onion rings with horseradish sauce and the spoon jalapeño corn bread- so good. He had ribs and pulled pork with the most flavorful baked beans and the jalapeño Mac and cheese we didn't care for. The food was delicious. Lettuce was very fresh and their fries were unique and very crisp. Next time, I'll have to try the ribs. I did try both of their BBQ sauces and they were both good. Service was decent. Not great, since we never got water refills, but friendly and good initially. I like the new design. I hadn't been there since it was the previous location and I like the updates. I also like that they kept the indoor/outdoor bar, which is the best feature on a day that's not too hot. It was way too hot the day we were there. read more

I have only written positive restaurant reviews so this is the first negative review regarding a restaurant but my experience was so upsetting that I had to write this review. I recently visited this particular Dee Jays in the Bridgeville/Kirwin Hts. giving a second chance in 3 months hoping my exprerience would be better but it was not because of a particular employee, Keily. As we entered and sat at the bar their was hardly any people seated their except 2 gentlemen who seemed to be regulars or known by the bartender/server. After 10 minutes of waiting for her to approach us and ask if we or what we would like we asked another person if she was the bartender/ server and could we order from her. We also told her we would be eating. after another unusually long wait we order from Keily. Our food was eventually brought to us with no siverware or napkins. With her seemingly ignoring us I asked if we could have silverware and napkins. She walked away and came back and told us their was no clean silverware and walked away. I guess she expected us to eat with our fingers! This was almost comical that she could care less. Eventually we asked again for silverware and she being annoyed walked away and brought us plastic silverware for to go orders and said thats all they had and again walked away. To make matters worse, We were charged for 2 items that were never brought tous. We told the other person who worked there about the charges for items we didn't get. In turn, she told Keily about these items at which Keily just looked at he and shrugged her shoulders. Nice! We endend up leaving as we were done with her attitude and ignorance. Horrible experience! I believe the manager is Nick as they said he had left for the night. So Nick, you might want to explain that the restaurants revenue and the money she makes is dependant on how she performs her job, good or bad. And employees such as Keily with attitudes and ignorance, it seems have little or no customer service training which falls squarely on you as the manager and/or the owner. She should not be serving anyone in any capacity as the first time we were there chalked up to having a bad night, this second time seems to be the norm. So thanks to her we wont be back as their are too many other options to receive acceptable customer service for the money spent. read more

I visited last Friday and surprisingly found the restaurant to be not too busy. It seemed to be a newer restaurant inside and was comfortable. We had a larger group and we were seated quickly. The menu was not as large as I would have expected. I did find several things that I thought I would like. I ended up with a chicken sandwich, the sidewinder fries and added a side salad. They had draft specials for the month and for happy hour which nice. The beer selection was not outstanding, but basic. Two of my party ordered apps. One ordered onion rings which came out in a large serving. Another ordered chips and dip. They seemed to enjoy them. My salad was tasty and I liked that the toppings were somewhat chopped. The chicken sandwich was decent, nothing to get too excited about. I think the roll was not wonderful and a fresher roll would have improved the sandwich. The fries were decent. One of our party I know had ribs and seemed to enjoy them. It was a decent place and would return, just wish there was more variety. We finally made it to Dee Jays and the ribs did not disappoint! Visited here for my husbands birthday and we had a nice time. Staff was really friendly. Service was a bit behind but overall good. We got the French onion dip as an app and it was tasty. We both had the pulled pork and ribs. They were so yummy, especially with the sauce! Went to the one in Murrysville PA today. The worst service I have ever received. We sat on the patio. Started out great. Waiter was pleasant and friendly. Took our drink order and came back with the drinks. 20 minutes later still had not come over to take our order. They were not busy and I counted 6 separate times he looked over at us. He was too busy talking to the other female bar tender or just walking around the place. Finally came over. Food came out. Never once did he check on us or ask if everything was ok. The venue itself is a really cool space! Walking in Dee Jay's you'll notice are the trendy garage door enclosures giving the whole restaurant a large, open feel. An impressive bar tucked under 6 large HDTV's serving over 20 draft beers on tap. Additional TV's lined the perimeter of the restaurant filled with a mix of high top and regular tables and booths elevated on two levels. There is a separate space where they had a few tables and all kinds of games for the kids to play with which is nice when you bring the whole family and don't want to worry about them acting crazy! I even noticed a great party room tucked away in the back! While everything was delicious at DeeJay's and there wasn't a crumb left in the table, I'm going to share with you my idea of the ultimate meal here if you're looking to indulge. 1) Start with the onion loaf; DeeJay's version of onion rings with horseradish sauce. This appetizer is plenty to share between 4 people. 2) Go for the ribs. They're famous for a reason. Baby back pork ribs hickory smoked with DeeJay's BBQ sauce fall right off the bone. Smother them in DeeJay's original BBQ sauce or spring for the sweet sauce (SO good). My husband is currently doing low-carb and omitted the sauce and STILL said they were delicious. BTW - we both ordered a Rack and almost fell over when we saw the portion size. Nothing like the WV location. Bridgeville didn't take our food order so I cant tell you anything about the food. The lack of service at the bar, in the manager's presence, was the worst service we have ever had anywhere. The place seemed very nice while I was there for 1 drink. Stopped here for lunch yesterday and ate with friends. I had heard about the lunch specials, and I love Fish on Fridays, so I figured, "Oh Boy," a fish sandwich special on Friday, as Fish Friday is kind of traditional here in Pittsburgh, but much to my surprise, the fish sandwich was listed as the Thursday special instead of Friday, so I thought that was pretty strange. I ordered the fish sandwich anyway, for regular price, and I was pretty happy with it. I got the sidewinder fries as my side instead of slaw, but was happily surprised that the sandwich already had slaw on it . . . BONUS!! My friends had a steak sandwich, another fish sandwich (with sweet potato fries as a side), and a plate with ribs, pulled pork (I think) and Jalapeño Mac. They also ordered a corn bread (which I sampled, and thought was just O.K. (tasted like a smokey creamed corn to me)). My friends said they enjoyed their food also. Service was very good, and the food was a tad bit slow coming out of the kitchen, but I thought it was worth the wait, especially since we had some good conversation among friends at the table. Once we got seated the waitress was extremely nice but the food was not very good. Dee Jays is known for their ribs - getting a half rack and being very disappointed! The ribs were dry and there was very little sauce on it! Plus the sauce tasted different and the sweet potato fries were cold. My wife got the chicken sandwich that stated it was tenders on it - those were very thick tenders that made it difficult to eat. The whole sandwich was very greasy. Just ok.... First let me say our server Jeffery J was AMAZING, he gets a 10 star from me. That was really the best highlight of our dining experience. We started with the sidewinders which were pretty tasty. It's some type of French fries with cheese, jalapeños, sauce & pulled pork. This was the best part of our meal. The ribs were just not good, they were cooked so long & just crunchy, not juicy at all. There was absolutely no sauce on them at all & they didn't come with a side of sauce. The Mac & cheese had no flavor at all. Finally let me tell you I ordered a martini & it wasn't even filled to the top of the glass, a quarter of the drink was missing. I know this must be by design cause I had 3 of them and they each came like that. Very disappointing. The remodel is very basic but fits well. I walked in here thinking I was going to get a quick dinner and told myself no once I saw the menu. I guess for BBQ I was expecting to see more options and was surprised with how contemporary the place looked. The atmosphere just felt off with white booths, palm wallpaper and country music. When I didn't see what I initially wanted, and when I saw the prices, I honestly didn't think eating dinner here was worth it (again I was looking for something quick). I stayed and got the loaded fries app which was awesome all around, but I just personally don't like ribs enough to spend 25 dollars for a half rack. Overall I guess I expected something a little more casual. Not to say I wouldn't try this place again - the fish sandwich looked really good.
