    Hair in acai bowl
    Krupa S.

I was so excited that a new location popped up. Their acai bowls are delicious and a great price. Having grown up in CA, I was so excited to finding decent acai place. However, the reason for the bad review is that we got an acai bowl with multiple light colored hairs in it. (Mine and my husbands' hair colors are black). This is absolutely disgusting and deters me from wanting to order from here again. The photo shows the strand we initially found and there were multiple other strands that we found blended into the bowl. Absolutely unacceptable. Will not be ordering from here again.

As much as I love food, I love liquids more, and would be perfectly happy to drink all of my calories, which I did as a child, until my palate adjusted to Southern foods. I later learned to cook healthfully as a teenager, and have explored ethnic foods ever since. Raw foods such as fruits, veggies, juices, and salads remain favorites. So when I went to Chicago last summer, as I was walking back to my hotel from Millennium Park hot and exhausted, quenching my thirst and hunger simultaneously with something fresh was a priority. I had spotted Deep Purpl on the way. I love açai, and usually just purchase it in frozen packets or juice from the grocery store, so this was my first time trying an açai bowl at a shop. It was absolutely amazing, so much so that I ordered the same thing as a BOGO special from Uber the next day. I've been trying to find a local spot in VA that compares: not too sweet, quality ingredients nicely layered with almond butter as an option.

I'm a huge fan of smoothies for breakfast. And hence this is on my way to work.I decided to stop in and see what they were all about. The decor of the store is very eye catching. The purple theme is not something that you commonly , so I definitely believe that's what drew my attention. The menu is Easy to understand and has options for acai bowls, empanadas and smoothies. I tried the Deep Green smoothie. Although the flavor was nice, I didn't like that.It wasn't blended smoothly and there were pieces Of the ingredients Is coming through the straw. That is. Perfectly fine for things like pineapple and banana, but I'm not really into chunks of spinach while drinking my smoothie. I would return and try a different smoothie and maybe request that it is blended better.

The food was what we were looking for. Everyone enjoyed it. We ordered 2 Acai bowls, Ham and cheese empanadas, Deep coffee with peanut butter added. The açaí bowls are fun - you get unlimited toppings! The location we went to is convenient. It was a bit warm inside, there isn't a bathroom as it is a walk up place with limited seats. It seemed clean, but some of the seats could use a good cleaning. The service was friendly, quick and helpful. We would go again.

It's located in the middle of downtown Chicago. They have acai bowl and smoothies. But I only ordered their empanadas. They were very tasty. I ordered a spinach and a beef. The dipping was sold separately. Which all rang up to $10. It was a bit on the pricy side but it wasn't bad. Their staff were friendly. And POS was simple. You tap and select the amount of tip or no tip on the screen. One of the quick tipping option was set at 25%, which I thought it was ridiculous for fast food. Anyhow, I enjoyed my food. Overall, it gets a 4.0 out of 5.

This establishment happened to be plant based as far as the empanadas were concerned, they had a few different ones to choose from. The empanada I had was delicious filled with beyond meat / sweet potatoes and I'm sure some other plant based ingredients and I couldn't tell the difference between that and meat. The açaí bowl was fresh, ice cold and u also were able to build your own from available ingredients which I thought was cool. Worth the try even if your not vegan

Very good food! The owners mom was there and she is super friendly. Their empanadas are from an Argentina company.

There a a couple things to note about this place. 1) these are not acai bowls, they are acai cups. Most toppings get plunked on the top and only certain ones get layered below. 2) the acai mixture itself is very sweet! I recommend staying away from the sweeter toppings unless you're looking for a sugar bomb. For one person I'd recommend the 12oz or smaller. It is a bit pricy, but the quality is decent. Service is fast and I appreciate the care they put into chopping and adding each topping. Also really love that there's no topping limit! My favorite toppings are the fruit ones, almond butter, powdered milk (sounds weird, but I find it provides a nice contrast to the acai ok), and cacao nibs. Overall a solid dessert option in the loop and a nice contrast to all the fast food chains and Starbucks shops.

On a rainy cold day, walked at most 2 blocks to the park and it's completely liquidated. The açaí was super water down and sweet with added honey as a topping. The blue chia pudding was barely any to fill a line on the rim of the cup. If you decide to visit, I advise to get a spoon and a straw so you can enjoy it. Overall, the store front does not have seating available for customers so plan accordingly.

I was very surprised and shocked about how excellent this was. So it's acai bowls and I frankly was suprised at how tasty it was. They advertise it as a meal, but it's def more of a healthier froyo place. One of the best parts is that you can have any/all of the list of toppings, which is incredible. I can't even remember what I got but everything adds to the experience. That being said the frozen açaí alone is fantastic and addicting. I'm already craving my next one! Def check this out, and it also shares a vegan empanada place.

Deep purpl was a great place to go for lunch or a pick me up in the middle of the day. I don't usually like açaí and was expecting to want to eat a regular meal after eating this but I was wrong! It was so delicious and so filling. It's great though because you feel great after eating it. The options for what to put on top are great -- a great mix of fresh fruit and nuts as well as condensed milk and granola.

I was excited to stumble upon Deep Purpl when I lived in west loop. I tried their açaí bowl either a few toppings. Honestly, the açaí tasted a bit weird to me. Fresh açaí is fruity and tart, however the açaí in this bowl tasted a bit metallic (mostly because it's preserved). That being said, the toppings are great! I love adding banana, goji berries and cacao nibs with an occasional dash of the chocolate protein powder to my açaí bowl. Blueberries taste really well with the açaí bowl too. I also really respect Deep Purpl for keeping the prices low. Açaí is expensive and I have had other açaí bowls that are way way way expensive. They also offer smoothies that I haven't tried yet. Their vegan empanadas are really delicious though. Only a select few locations offer the empanadas. The service is good and the ambience is all purple inspired, which is cute. Overall, a nice place to try açaí, although I do wish the açaí could be more fresh.

Beautiful space, lots of purple love. I was craving the taste of acai and decided to stop in and create a bowl. My bowl included fresh but dried coconut, chia seeds, granola and almond butter. It was a delight.

Seven people, $700 all in, and so much regret. Service: 3/5 I'll start with the positive: the customer service was overall pretty good. It was raining hard, so after walking a few miles and exhausting other indoor options, we popped in 30 minutes early to see if they could seat us. They could, and they got us in quickly. So far, so good. I'm only giving this three stars because, at the start of our meal, servers poured out of the kitchen all at once. Normally, that would be great--better to be overwhelmed with food than wondering where it is--but the situation resembled chaos more than efficiency. They were in and out so quickly that I barely knew what I was being served. That said, I'll give them credit where it's due: they checked on us several times and kept our drinks full and the table stocked with bread. Food: 1/5 It was just bad. No amount of good service can make up for bad food. The salad bar was "meh." A decent assortment of options, but nothing to write home about. The meat--which is the whole point of the experience--was honestly terrible. It had no flavor, none. Somehow, even the fattier cuts were bland; I wondered if they forgot to season them entirely. It didn't help that almost every piece of meat we received, regardless of what we requested, was well-done and bone-dry. I tried so hard to enjoy it, but every bite was just a reminder that I was out $700 for food you'd usually have to pay me to eat. It was my birthday, and while I was surprised when the staff brought out a lava cake and ice cream, it was a bit odd that half the ice cream was already melted all over the plate by the time it reached the table. Atmosphere: 3/5 It was fine--nothing to brag about, but about what you'd expect from Fogo. My one critique is the smell; it was a lot better outside than inside. There was this weird, clinical scent--I don't even know how to describe it--that permeated the dining room. Otherwise, it was acceptable. Cost: 1/5 Way overpriced considering what we actually got. It really stings to waste our "once-a-year" expensive family dinner on such awful food. We're done with Fogo, unfortunately.

We tried the provoleta with peppers because we like that a lot in Argentina, but this was nothing like it and I guess that was to be expected. There they have a bunch of drier version of provolone and they grill it directly on the grill grates and it doesn't really melt too much. This tasted like standard provolone cheese and it was melted in a bowl. It was tasty, and unfortunately they probably can't get the Argentinian version of the cheese they would need to do it correctly. Our friends got the beef brochette with asparagus and the outside skirt steak and both were fabulous. Well seasoned and grilled and tender. My husband and I got the 2 pound stuffed fillet! It supposedly had ham in the filling but I couldn't taste it or see it anywhere. Unfortunately it had a really strongly flavored sauce along with the portobello mushrooms. We expected something with fewer herbs, which kind of overpowered the beef. It's a shame because the way they described it on the menu is not what came out. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't what we were expecting and unfortunately, the beef flavor was hard to discern because of all of the herbs in the dark brown sauce. We brought our own wine and they didn't even have a corkage fee, which was amazing! We saw other plates go by with copious amounts of tomatoes and onions on salads and the filet mignon platter, it seemed like it was three or four pieces of fillet it had to be nearly a pound for one serving. The prices are pretty steep for the beef and they do charge $10 for sharing, however it might be worth just getting one of the larger plates and spending the 10 bucks to share as opposed to getting an entrée each and taking home lots of food which we did.
