Expensive. Sure, the seafood is fresh, but IMO, the high prices are more based on "the area" rather than freshness. Scallops were over $32 a pound. Fried Fish was $16.59 (before tax) for two small pieces. I'm not Wow'd by Deepwater Seafood like other reviewers have been. It's OK, if you have a hankering for seafood and don't want to make the hike down to the CT shoreline. There are really not any other options up here in Northern Connecticut at this time, I wish Simply Seafood in Torrington would open back up again. read more

An absolute disappointment! The owners disposition is atrocious. Went in today, Christmas Eve, to purchase a piece of fish, and she could not have been more rude. Apparently, this is the norm for her, which, in my humble opinion, especially as a fellow small business owner, is surprising. Knowing it would be busy on the holiday I knew to be patient & EXTRA polite,, but she was extremely rude, actively was discouraging me from purchasing anything from her because I had not placed an order beforehand. When asked if walk-ins were not welcome all I got was an evil glare. she sternly informed me that the people behind me in line HAD all placed orders, however the 2 guys behind me LOL & said they were walk ins also (I said Watch out!) Did she not expect any walk-ins on Christmas? So! I asked if they had any salmon and she really did not want to sell me any. She said she didn't know if they had any left & just looked at me. I kindly asked if she could please find out & only then did she begrudgingly go to another member of the staff to ask. He cheerily said "Yes, of course we do." She returned to me and barked "Which one do you want?" I had to ask, which ones she had, After I chose, she rather aggressively told me I needed to move out of the way and wait in the corner since I didn't pre- order. Thankfully, the guy she had asked, stepped in and very kindly assisted me. he even went so far as to tell me she knew they had multiple extra fish for walk-ins as he told her he purchased them the day before. , I would think, even when super stressed out and busy, you would not actively discourage someone from purchasing something from your store. Absolutely superb, my husband has been asking me to try this restaurant and we went and got the fish and chips meal. The jumbo fried shrimp with curly fries and my husband wanted calamari so we got calamari with onion rings. everything was phenomenal. We are visiting from South Florida, where we not only eat a lot but we also fish offshore on a regular basis for our own meals. So you can imagine our standards when it comes to choosing seafood out of town. Firstly, we met a friendly local outside, which seems slightly uncommon here, truth be told. That was a relief. He told us it's his favorite place and gave recommendations for a scallop roll. Note, The scallop roll was fire! Dually, Highly recommended! When we came in the team took amazing care of me and my family. We had some gigantic shrimp and fish tacos and it was really fresh and satisfying. We got raw oysters and clams as an appetizer and they were great. The right amount of brine. The cocktail sauce has just the right amount of horseradish to add a kick without being too much. Then there's the lobster roll. I don't know if I'd call it a roll... because they take what seems like a baguette, slice it large, cut a pocket in it and stuff it with lobster. It's so good! They grill the bread too. We can't say enough about how good it is beyond that it's enough for two of us plus the fries. Overall if you haven't been, I suggest making a stop. It's totally worth it! I asked for a recommendation on what was good for the day and went with the suggestion of a swordfish reuben with slaw (which was in the sandwich). Isn't a reuben sandwich on rye? This was a grilled sandwich, but I don't believe it's rye bread. The fish was cooked well, and the slaw was fine. Overall, the sandwich was fine, but it wasn't my favorite thing, so I wouldn't order this myself again, but I'd be willing to try other things. read more

I had to order the fries separately, it's not a combo no biggie though. The clam chowder tasted great it actually had clams and the chowder was thick not watery. The fishwich was a bit of a disappointment though. The fish tasted great but the bread that they use doesn't go with it. I wish they would have use brioche or potato bread instead. A regular sandwich bread just doesn't go well with the fish. Also, they give you a ton of fries they were crispy unfortunately they were on the salty side. I was not able to eat them at all. We usually go to the shore for good, fresh seafood. Deep Water Seafood was recommended to me by a friend. Needless to say, we are not going to the shore for fresh seafood anymore!!! Everything was so fresh and delicious and was served to us right from the fryer, so hot we had to wait a little to eat it!!! The fries were crispy and tasty. The fish tasted like it was right off the boat. Seating is limited inside but there is also seating outside. I would suggest going on an off hour to avoid the crowd! Even though they were super busy we got served quickly. Everyone is so nice and they make you feel at home. Looking forward to lunch again to try something else on the menu! What a great little seafood shop I stumbled upon while traveling through the area! I stopped in for lunch and ordered a lobster roll with fries. Service was fast and friendly! There was plenty of lobster and the fries were great. The seafood in the case looked fresh and there was a steady stream of people coming in. I grabbed some chowder and smoked fish spread to go.
