    Tallarin Chino Mixto

I called in the morning to place mine and a friend's order ahead so that it would be ready for a certain hour. I was meeting a friend and I only had so much time for my lunch break. They delivered so well! Our server was very kind. Although he was working the whole floor by himself he was very composed. They were relatively quiet but it really shows that they're busy and a popular choice for lunch. The flavor to this tallarin is so good! Ask for the sauces although it doesn't really need it but it's still good to have options. I couldn't stop eating. I literally had to remind myself that I had to go back to work quickly. I'm hoping to come again soon when I have no time constraints. The only other thing I've tried before was the Ceviche Mixto and the plantains and that too was amazing!!

We were driving down Franklin Avenue in Hartford and trying to decide between Italian or Latin. We decided we'd take a card left on Park Street, but we remembered that on a similar ride we noticed El Rinconcito PERUANO (hey Yelp, you have the name wrong) and decided that we should go by and see if they were open. A very quaint interior, the place was empty, but they had a TV on featuring a concert. Music was definitely great! It was a little after 6 and realize we're in a pandemic, but we wondered why the place wasn't busy... WELL... Busy or Empty-has nothing to do with the food. In fact, we're unsure if we want everyone to come here and take our space. The food came out quickly, and we were salivating! We ordered: bistec encebellado , Chaufa mixto and platanos maduros. Heaven was in every.bite. The food was FRESH!! The Chaufa mixto had beef, chicken and shrimp. We were pleasantly surprised that bean sprouts were thrown in and in speaking with our server he spoke a little about the Asian influence on Peruvian cuisine, which we loved. The bistec came with potatoes that we think were boiled and then lightly fried-magnificent! The platanos Maduros made us wonder if they were prepared in an air fryer: the tenderness, texture, sweetness were perfection. There were 2 condiments: a hot sauce and a green one that we neglected to get the name of BUT because we will be back, we will not only order again, but also make sure to get extra green sauce!! Cost: $$ Service: 10/10 We loved our server who greeted us in Spanish and gave us some history. Drinks: 9/10- it's only a 9/10 because we had a coke and Inca cola which isn't organic of the business. So we're actually rating those vendor brands :) So this place was definitely a win and we can't wait to be back!!

Acrylic nail found inside the food. Called to complaint and they acknowledged the possibility of a nail falling on the food. Disgusting and unacceptable.

This is hands down one of the BEST Peruvian Restaurants my Husband and I have experienced. The i side of this place is beautiful (includes fancy chandeliers), food fantastic, and lovely Peruvian music played the entire time. Also, our Waiter Flavio was professional, cheerful and offered impeccable Customer Service. Five Stars!

Another clean my plate type of place!!! This was Papa a la Huancaina and it was definitely one of the best things I've ever eaten! Great service and full of local friendly faces. Sweet Plantains are a must have when you order! Joseph was working the whole floor alone and did a great job! If you are in town, stop by... if you are local, please take advantage of this gem.

A very nice restaurant with an excellent service. Our waiter was very attentive and very respectful and the food wasn't that good. I came because I saw the total of 4 stars but this place doesn't deserve it. The food is just okay nothing exceptional. I was in shock that my Lomo Saltado was ready in a couple of minutes, the food was very dry and I guess it wasn't fresh. Papá a la huancaina was flavorless, no chicha morada.... I won't comeback here, I definitely don't recommend this place.

We stopped by with my family because we were driving by and saw it while in Hartford. We had never been/ seen it but the nice waitress told us they had been around for about three years. The waitress was very sweet and we went on a rainy day and there were only about four families us included in the restaurant. The food was okay. I gave it four stars because it was well seasoned but it came out a little cold and we ordered Anticucho con Rachi but as you see got regular anticuchos which we were fine with until we realized we got charged the up charge for the Rachi we didn't get. We had to run so we just left it as is. I do have to say their ahi verde or green sauce is second to none! By far the best I've had. The restaurant itself seems small until you realize there is a whole ballroom that could be rented in the back. One final thing to keep in mind is that the tip and tax are included in the bill! We saw 16 and change added to the bill and CT taxes are high but not that high so the waitress told us that service was included in that.

When I was in the Hartford area and craving some fish, I checked out this spot on Yelp. It's not in the nicest part of town, but that's often where you find the best food. As I stepped inside, I was greeted warmly and ordered the number 5 platter, which included three pieces of whiting and a piece of catfish. I wanted some coleslaw on the side, but they didn't have it. The staff mentioned they sold potato salad instead. They even gave me a sample, which was just okay--personally, I thought it needed more potatoes since I could mainly taste the dressing. My order arrived within about ten or fifteen minutes. The fish was just so-so. The whiting was a bit bland, and although it looked crispy, it felt slimy when I bit into it. The catfish was good and didn't have that slimy texture, but it lacked a real punch of flavor. The fries were decent enough. The customer service was friendly, and the staff made me feel welcome.

We had to flag down another server to ask for waters to drink with our food, because our server hadn't brung us our ordered beverages yet. And then, when we finally did get them, my FROZEN margarita arrived at the table already MELTED. Second issue- Majority of my muscles came EMPTY, as if the meat was overcooked out of their shells before being put into my bag. So I didn't even get many muscles. And their "sausages" were not the typical thick round sausages they have advertised on their ads and that you see everywhere else. They were literally THIN FLIMSY SLICES OF PORK LIKE HAM. That was very upsetting, they didn't even have a sausage-like taste. However, other than those two issues, everything else was great! We got crab legs, shrimp, muscles, corn, potatoes, boiled eggs and lobster tail in our boils. We both got the special blend sauce mild. The flavor was good.

Gilberts to celebrate another milestone with our son--his completion of ODS. Our reservation was for 7:30 PM, and after waiting about 10 minutes for our table, I asked whether we were being seated in Amanda's section. That was when we were told that Amanda no longer works at J. Gilberts. I was honestly surprised and disappointed that we weren't informed of this when making the reservation, especially since we specifically requested her. The food was OK as our steaks were more than medium rare (dry, not juicy) but unfortunately the overall experience felt very average this time. What made our previous visit special was the warmth, personal attention, and connection we experienced with Amanda. That feeling simply wasn't there this time. I understand that staff changes happen, but given that Amanda was specifically requested and was a major reason we chose to return for another family milestone, I would have appreciated being told in advance. It would have allowed us to set different expectations--or perhaps make another choice. We came back hoping to recreate a special experience, and unfortunately, it just didn't have the same warmth this time around.

This may be, perhaps, the best Happy Hour I have ever seen anywhere. It's EVERY DAY from 3:30-6. The food item options are huge (20-25) plus three dessert choices. There's are also seven quality mixed drinks, three beers and seven wines! OMG! The bartender recognized me! I haven't been here since January 2025 (1 1/3 years ago). She is even knew where I sat! The menu is unchanged except for a few minor things. For my first drink, I'm having the Max Manhattan made with Old Overholt Rye, Cinzano Sweet Vermouth, orange bitters and orange twist. This has a nice garnish and tastes great! For my first food item, I'm getting a Caesar Salad made with romaine lettuce, garlic croutons and Parmesan cheese. The smell of cheese is quite strong! It's a good portion. This tastes good! Crunchy croutons and tasty lettuce. For my next food item, I'm having a Salmon lettuce cup. Nice presentation! It's on a bed of ice and a lemon to sprinkle. This is quite good! Next up, I'm having a Cup of Clam Chowder. I believe these are house-made croutons. This came out quick! It's nice and hot! Tastes great! Well, with a little hot sauce that is...I like the classic music here. For my next drink, I'm having an Old Fashioned made with Old Forester Bourbon, simple syrup and Angostura bitters. Damn! Nice presentation (the Amarena cherry on the wooden stick) and a great tasting drink! The bartenders are good here! Very attentive! For my next food item, I'm having the Steamed Mussels made with soppressata, capers, shellfish stock, spring herb butter and Pernod butter. I love the focaccia! It is heavily buttered. The mussels are real good! For my next food item, I'm having the Scallops A La Plancha made with mustard spatzle, pea puree, asparagus and mushroom cream. This is good. It's heavy due to the pasta. It's like an entree. To wash this all down, I'm getting a bottle of Pellegrino sparking water. I like this stuff! For my next food item, I'm having four (Buck a Shuck) Cherrystone clams and four Oysters of the Day (only $1.95 each). These are good! I love the cocktail and vinaigrette sauces (with the crushed pink peppercorns). Sprinkle that lemon! For my next drink, I'm having a Happy Hemmy made with rum, grapefruit juice, lime and vanilla extract. What a great drink! Very unique taste! This has kick! For my food item, I'm having the "Baltimore Style" Shrimp Cocktail made with Old Bay Seasoning and stone ground mustard. OMG! The shrimp are big These are great! I love that mustard! For my next good item, I'm having the Blackened Fish Taco made with pineapple salsa and aji verde. I love it! This is easy to eat. For my last appetizer, I'm having the Happy Burger made with lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese. I miss this badly! This is delicious! It's a well-seasoned burger let me tell you! For dessert, I'm having the Creme Brulee. This is the cutest Creme brulee ever! On a Happy Hour menu?! This is a first anywhere! My favorite dessert! This is great! For my final drink, I'm having the Gin Gimlet made with Greylock Gin, simple syrup and lime juice. This is good! It's light so it's easy to drink at the end of my meal. I got oysters and they tasted a tad funky and I got the seafood pasta dish and it did not have much flavor besides the red pepper flakes, which I put in it.
