We decided to try Amici we were in the mood for Italian food . I had NONA 'S shrimp, and scallops over pasta it was amazing very good size portion. The sauce was delicious The best part is they gave us warm bread out of the oven to soak up the sauce. Yum My husband had Veal and Shrimp Dicapo nice size pieces of veal shrimp was done to perfection . He also asked to substitute the mashed potatoes for pasta which was not a problem at all . The staff were very professional and helpful when asked to describe our dish . A plus was they came over with Parmesan cheese and graded it at table side. It was surprising to see a wait on a Wednesday night in the summer, but a few large parties had come in. I was happy to see how the manager handled the wait. They had empty tables but not enough servers on, so they did not see people. That was smart. Amici puts the "wait" in waiter! We sat down but were served first by the hostess and then the manager and then our waiter. Dinner was not long to arrive after the ordering. It was not difficult with two of us. My wife had the salad and I had chicken parm. The salad was good, but the chicken parm was chewy, maybe overcooked or not so fresh. I decided to go all in with a cappuccino and tiramisu, with the coffee being the best thing I had that night. Tiramisu is ok. Not a contender in my top list. Overall, an ok dining experience. I went there for a 60th anniversary luncheon. I had grilled salmon - it was perfectly grilled, nice size portion; vegetable was a scoop of garlic mashed potatoes. Other selections included chicken Milanese and vodka penne. Salad was served first - very tasty included, greens chopped walnuts, feta cheese with a delicious dressing that did not overpower the salad. The dessert was a caramel apple cheesecake- scrumptious! I have yet to come dine in at Amici but I love their family meal take out. It comes with salad and entree. The salad is always fresh. There is a rotation of pasta from week to week, and most have been delicious. The ordering and pick up process is easy and quick and It makes for easy dinner for 4-5 people. This is a terrific place to take someone on a first date. You walk in and the decor is very tastefully done, with flowing fabric on the ceilings and a great warm color scheme that makes the place feel like you can take off your cold jacket and warm up with some great food. Service was terrific. The waitress was friendly and welcoming without overstaying a welcome, and great at suggesting items off the menu. Calamari appetizer was served New York style with peppers and marinara, and very well done-- not too fried, but cooked to retain its texture. Salads were part of the meal and also excellent with multiple dressing options. Then the entrees came and they were spectacular. Like, I asked our waitress to "give our compliments and thanks to the chef". Based on a recommendation from the waitress, I ordered a gnocchi and brisket dish with vegetables, and it was amazing. Perfectly cooked, great flavors that worked together, and so fulfilling. Everyone traded portions with everyone at the table to try something else, and no one was hungry or disappointed. We left feeling quite happy and will return back for another visit soon. Highly recommended for some of the best Italian in the area. read more

In the global, life altering plague that I'm sure everyone is tired of, Amici rose to the occasion. They began making family style take-out meals, and are an amazing value. For $35, you get bread, salad, and a pasta dish with easily five to six servings, if not more. Their offerings change weekly, so check their Facebook page. The pasta is always delicious - the chicken parmigiana is beautifully coated and has a gooey layer of mozzarella on top. The regular menu is very good as well. I've been to Amici's 3 times in the past 6 months. Everytime, we enjoy ourselves! The restaurant is beautiful. Traditional and cozy Italian place. Great give. The service is always good as well, nothing to complain about. The menu offers classic Italian dishes as well as a few some unique entrees. I've had the stuffed mushrooms and shrimp appetizer...both flavorful. I've ordered the Eggplant parm entree every time I've gone because it's that good! Eggplant parm is my favorite food and I'm picky about it- I actually am usually disappointed in most restaurants but Amici's knows how to do it! They actually evenly layer the eggplant, cheese and sauce. My mother has gotten the Veal Marsala and Chicken Christina and enjoyed both very much. Only complaint is the mashed potatoes that her dish came with looked like they were scooped with an ice cream scooper- therefore they looked unappetizing and cheap. I love that each entree comes with soup or salad to start, as well as bread. I love this place and there's no good traditional Italian restaurants in the area, so if you're looking for Italian- go here!! read more

So many restaurants have responded to staying upright during the coronavirus pandemic by stepping up their take-out game. Amici's has a spectacular deal and we took advantage of it on Thursday night. They call it a Dinner Table Menu, offered between March 19-21, and here were the choices. For a paltry $28 you can get a meal for four or five people consisting of a choice of a half pan of Chicken Parm, Chicken Cristina, Chicken Milanese (all with pasta), stuffed shells, plus Italian bread, and a half tray of salad. After reading Dan R's review for Amici's, my wife was wanting to try their chicken parmesan. Headed over there yesterday and took advantage of the $28 chicken parm family dinner special -- WOW, that's an awesome value, it easily feeds 5 people (or 4 with hefty portions). Chicken was very tender, breading was good also. Sauce was a tad on the sweet side for me though. Dressing that came with the salad was excellent. Looking forward to when the COVID-19 crisis is over and we can come back for a sit down meal at Amici's ! read more

UPDATE MAY 2025 Spouse and I had lunch at Amici on Saturday, May 24, 2025. I am very, very happy to report that Amici is even better than previously commented. The food is excellent- (I had the cod with spinach and spouse had the shrimp with pasta, and we shared the garlic bread-very cheesy! in the best way possible) and the service by Sedona was impeccable. One of the best things about Amici is that you are not rushed, unlike other restaurants where you are expressly or implicitly on the clock. Do you know what I mean? Those restaurants that either inform you of your time limit for dining, and it's your problem if the kitchen is backed up-too bad for you! Your time here is up! Or restaurants that implicitly rush you by presenting the bill while you are still finishing the main course, and wondering about dessert. Amici paces the courses so that you actually get a chance to savor the food instead of gulping it down, have a chance to converse with others at your table, and actually enjoy the experience of eating out. The courses are paced, so you are neither rushed nor or you sitting wondering if the food got lost on the way from the kitchen. Amici's $30 Dinner Table/Takeout Meals cannot be beat and you definitely get your money's worth! We recently ordered the Chicken Parmigiana meal which came with deliciously prepared fried cutlets smothered with tasty marinara and gooey cheese over a generous helping of penne pasta, a house salad with a great dressing/vinegarette and a small loaf of bread. Everything was fantastic and there were leftovers for the next day. Even though we've been good about making dinner every night, it's nice to know we can turn to Amici for a delicious, reasonably priced meal when we want to take a break from cooking. I hadn't been to Amici's in five years and boy have I missed it! We were able to get seated quickly even though the restaurant was busy. The staff was very attentive and super friendly! We start with the stuff Mushrooms. They were stuffed with sausage bread crumbs and cheese and garlic butter they were so delicious! My day had the French onion soup which was rich and the broth was delicious. The cheese on top was so good! He had the Chicken Parmesan. I tasted the pasta which was plentiful it was cooked so well and you could tell how fresh it was. I had the Mediterranean salad with shrimp. The waitress had told me how wonderful the shrimp would be so I was advised to put the dressing on myself. Every bite had some new delicious taste like mozzarella or polenta croutons or tomato and cucumber or garlic. It was so good The wine and beer menus are excellent! I can't wait to visit again. We stopped here for lunch during the week and I was really underwhelmed by our meal. In addition, It didn't seem like our waiter received any training, he looked completely lost the whole time. I started with the arugula salad and the prosciutto not great quality and the dressing it came with was oddly thick and not very tasty (even though I'm an avocado lover!!), which was very disappointing for a very small $11 starter salad. Dillon got a house salad which was just fine but kind of drowned in dressing. For my main I ordered the Chicken Christina. The chicken was tough, the rest of the dish was fine. Dillon ordered the special that day, stuffed rigatoni, which was actually pretty good. Really expected more from this place, especially since it's not cheap. This place needs better food or cheaper prices. If you go, I would definitely recommend ordering basic food from the menu. read more

So at my house we call it Amici Tuesdays!!!!! I LOVE not having to cook on Tuesday's and have such yummy and affordable dinned that feeds 5-6 people. Besides our Tuesday dinner, I also love stopping in for lunch with friends or my daughters. Most dishes I tried have been very good, the staff here is very friendly. Jose at the front is amazing, couple of times I ordered dinner that one of my picky eaters doesn't care for, and I was able to add a simple breaded chicken cutlets at such a reasonable price. Great restaurant to come in for lunch or dinner, or casual drinks with friends, or order out. By the way I must add that the larger dinner orders are so cleverly packaged, easy for reheating, the salad dressing pre measured, I just love the ease. Cheers! read more

I found this restaurant to have obvious highs and lows. While in a very upscale, cool and modern setting with great lighting and excellent service, the food lacked a certain punch and level of quality. But, I'm giving 4 stars for great effort. With so many restaurants just outside of West Hartford, there is a certain expectation for the quality to be on the same level as is in "the city," but Amici was on the short side. Starting with the wine list: I was not impressed. Many of the wines were simply popular wines you'd find as you walk in a wine shop. My Riesling was very light, sweet and delicious, but there was not very much to choose from on the high end. The complimentary bread was good, probably made fresh there, but not a high quality bread like you'll find in West Hartford at Bricco or Treva. I love a thick crust, a sourdough, or something with a dark artisan crust. The salad came with my entree and I was impressed with the ingredients. Lettuce was a mix of greens, tomato, one cucumber slice, red onion, carrots, croutons, and decent balsamic. Nothing fancy, but a good value for sure. Baked Penne was just okay. The sausage dominated the dish and was not impressive. The color was grey and lacked a porky flavor. The slices of sausage reminded me of the kind of sausage you'd get in the baked ziti at a pizzeria for lunch. Not an elevated high quality pork or the crumbly bits of sausage nuggets that would probably work better and not dominate the dish. I encourage the owner to try Bricco in West Hartford and order their baked pasta dishes. It has heat, peas, a nice baked color, a high quality sauce, and ricotta and the perfect amount of sausage. The penne was cooked well, but the sauce was again, lackluster. Not a bright red color, but a dark overcooked flavor profile. Not a fresh marzano sweet and plump flavor. The dollop of ricotta was on one side of the dish covered in not-so-high quallity mozzarella, that was not only flavorless, but not baked enough, with any brown spots. I didn't even realize the ricotta was there for me to spread around until I got to the other side of the dish, and it seemed like a tablespoon and nothing more. Not a carefully made dish. Overall the dish satisfied my hunger, but at the $17 price point, it fell short. Baked Scrod was totally underwhelming. We counted two capers on the entIre dish. I'm not kidding. Two. Two lightly baked pieces of scrod, probably three quarters of a pound, with no flavor or sauce, on a bed of baby spinach. That's it. No creativity, no flavor, not satisfying, not a good value for $22. How about adding another vegetable, or more capers, or something to make the dish as attractive as the salmon dish? Very disappointed. There are some great areas of opportunity here. So much potential. I enjoyed the staff. The Hostess was very nice and accommodating when I called to get a table, and when we arrived. Owner/manager asked how the food was when we left, which I appreciated. I responded in a less than enthusiastic tone, but complimentary enough not to discourage. I knew I was going to write this the minute the dishes came out. I hope they read this and know they are so close. They just need to take everything over the finish line and make adjustments. Customers are attuned to quality. We know when restaurants shop at Costco or Restaurant Depot, or BJs. We can see, taste and smell it. For now, I encourage everyone to try it for themselves, it just might be exactly what you're looking for. It is a good value on many of the dishes, and we will likely give it another shot at some point. I have hope that they will make some improvement. read more

Nice little bar area inside and a ton of nice outdoor seating when the weather is suitable as well. Love the pasta and salad. Good lunch specials as well.
