This would be a 5 star post but they have rude political things up in their business and I find that to be incredibly disrespectful and not the place to do so. Bad: their price to do the work was more than what the dealer quoted to do the exact same work. Typically I expect independent service shops to charge less than the dealer. So I called the repair shop yesterday about my car's ac. "Tony" says get here by 5:30 even though the website claims 6pm. My wife leaves the house and arrives at 5:20 parks in the lot awaiting my arrival. After leaving work a half hour early, arrive at 5:27 pm to a locked and closed establishment with at least 3 hours of operations signs proclaiming 6pm as their closing time. I go over to my wife's car and she informs me that someone left and locked the door at 5:21 pm. Needless to say I'll be choosing another repair shop. Friendly staff, very expensive. If you don't know much about cars, this place will notice and will over price you. (Fact) They gave my wife a $1,200 quote to change an alternator. A job done down the street for $700. Since the current management took over, they have push the staff to inflate the cost/prices and act as is normal. I love Yelp! Thanks to the reviews of my fellow Yelpers, I now have a mechanic for our family's three cars. I was willing to drive a little further due to the consistently good reviews, and I am glad I did. They charged a good price for the oil change (without surprise additional disposal fees) and the tire rotation that I requested and said that the overall inspection (and I specifically asked them to also look at my brakes) would be part of the service and not an additional charge. When they were done, they called and told me my brakes looked great, but they had looked at the tires and recommended that we get new tires and they recommended going to Discount Tires, which is where we already go. He said therefore they did not recommend doing the rotation since they recommend changing the tires anyway, which I appreciated. The only thing they found was the engine filter was dirty and they recommended changing that out for a nominal fee. I said that I would confirm with my husband and he said that was fine and that they were charging just the price of the part, so whether they did it or if my husband preferred to do it, it'd be pretty much the same. Haha. My husband does not prefer to do it. Me neither. I'm always reassured when a mechanic recommends against repairs and doesn't charge just to open the hood and take a look around. Cars cost enough without paying for someone just looking. And they topped off our fluids and didn't charge us for that either. So I'll be bringing my cars to this mechanic and trust that when they recommend a repair, it will be because it is needed. That's how it should be. read more

They state facts and do not bait and switch at all. I like how they use genuine parts for your vehicle with aftermarket as an option. Always a great experience. Hard to say that when your taking your car in for servicing, but it's true. Start with the super clean, well appointed bathroom. They totally take pride in keeping it clean. I took a picture of the changing table, because it is thoughtful to have a "real one" instead of some pull down off the wall plastic thing. Service at Deer Valley Car Care is fair and honest. Everyone is clean both clothes and attitude. I appreciate the owners opinion and knowledge about vehicles and parts to buy along with what models are best when looking for something new or used. I get my oil changed and tires rotated along with fluids and tire pressure checked and filled all for under $30.00. They have a handy key-drop if you get there late to drop off. Very communicative if you have something they may need to fix or add like a cabin air filter. The waiting room has a TV, magazines, books including a Bible along with a leather couch and comfortable chairs. They always offer free water and coffee. Conveniently located just north of the 101 on Deer Valley Rd and 75th Ave. Bottom line: Fair prices, communication, comfort, cleanliness, honest service. Go for it! read more

I recently took my car for diagnostics. I had a Volvo which was leaking oil and a check engine light on. I took the car to Autozone to get a code and found that my EVAP solenoid may be the issue. So I called deer valley auto to see what they can do. I specifically asked if they can fix Volvos, and was assured that they can - so I took it. After the diagnostics, they figured out that it was definitely the EVAP solenoid that needs replacing, in addition the oil leak was coming from the valve cover area. I asked how much it would cause to get the issues fixed. The response I got was, "I'm sorry, but we do not have the equipment to fix Volvos." I was furious. I paid $90 for diagnostics and they couldn't even do anything for the car. Volvo diagnostics was $140, which is also carried over to the repairs if needed. I wasted $90 for diagnostics. I regret not taking it to the dealership. This company should've told me from our initial phone call that they do not service Volvos. I wasted time and money to get the same answer I got from Autozone (which was free). The only reason why I gave them 2 star is because they have good customer service, the owner was nice. Advice: I really like the fact that you gave me a free consult over the phone, which is a plus, however, just be upfront with the customer if you CANNOT service their type of car. That's how you gain their trust and loyalty. read more

Having just moved to Phoenix and recently purchasing a used Toyota 4Runner, I needed a go-to repair shop in town. I chose Deer Valley Car Care because of my in-laws who take their cars here and have great things to say about them. I brought my 4Runner in for an oil change two days after purchasing it. Erin and Tony were extremely pleasant when I was there to check in and drop off my keys. I had a list of things I wanted checked out but most of it was already included in their standard oil change service. In addition, I had an airbag light on, cruise control and horn did not work and I had a rattling sound in my front driver side tire. After about an hour I got a call that my car was done. I went in and discussed what they had found. Tony was extremely informative about what issues there were with the car and what the cost for repair would be. At no point did I feel pressured or like I was being lied to. He even told me what repairs could wait (some mechanics will try to up-sell you and make every little repair seem urgent). They also fixed the rattling sound in my front tire free of charge! After doing my research I found that the quote I received from Deer Valley Car Care was honest and very competitive so I called back to schedule the maintenance. The one and only reason I am giving four stars instead of five is they forgot to put air in my tires during the oil change. Not a big deal since I live near a QT with free air. UPDATE: I have been back to Deer Valley Car Care twice since I wrote this review and the service is good enough to cancel out the miss on tire pressure and bump their rating to a five! I really liked this place. They have great service and availability, even on the weekends. I dropped my car off on Saturday morning and I picked it up after hours. No problem. They installed new shocks and struts on my 2015 Subaru WRX. They also performed the 4-wheel alignment afterwards. The prices were comparable to other service center locations. However, they had a coupon for $50 off the alignment which I noticed in their window when I picked up my car. Unfortunately this wasn't applied, but in fairness, I didn't ask for it. When I picked up the car it was in the exact condition I left it in. The A/C, stereo, cleanliness were all the same. It wasn't any dirtier nor was it washed. They just did the work without a trace, like the fable with the shoemaker's elves. Deer Valley Car Care does great work, is reasonably priced and they get your work done with good availability. Even the front office people are friendly and patient. I highly recommend this location, but check for coupons and discounts first! read more

Tony the service writer was polite and professional. I was there at 7 AM and they were able to diagnose and repair on the same day (great!). I needed control rod bushings and one tie rod end. They did not push for extra work (great!). DVCC apparently charges "book" for labor and standard markups for parts (A-OK!). The shop is off a side street so I assume they survive on word of mouth and repeat business. I used my last mechanic for ten years until he sold his business. This may be my new place. I have no idea what the earlier reviewer is referring to, as it just doesn't get any better than Deer Valley Car Care. I was told about them by a friend who rebuilds cars. He had a problem with his Excursion that he didn't have time to address b/c the family was leaving on vacation the next day. So he took it in to DVCC. He was certain it was a significant repair based on his own diagnosis, which he shared with Rich, one of the owners of the shop. To his surprise, Rich called him back later in the day with the good news that the repair was not what my friend thought, but a much smaller, less costly issue. How often do you see that kind of integrity with an auto shop? Now we take our Cherokee to Rich and his team and will take my Camry as soon as my extended warranty expires. We've also referred family members and friends, who have all been pleased with the service at DVCC. Despite their location tucked WAY BACK in a commercial center, they are busy. Clearly, the secret is getting out. If you want to take your chances at Pep Boys or pay through the nose at the dealership, that's your call. As for me and my family, we're going to continue to take our business to this family-owned auto shop that has demonstrated to us nothing but honesty and high quality work at reasonable prices. Oh, by the way, Rich owns a boat, so I've started taking my Bayliner in for service there, too. Huge cost savings vs. a boat specialist. He said he'd refer me to a marine repair shop for a big job - like a lower unit rebuild - but is well-qualified for small and medium jobs and routine service. He just did a partial carb rebuild on my outboard. I really like this car care place and it is the only one I use now. After spending two years getting the Lexus dealer off of Bell & 91st Ave, I'm SO happy I've switched to these guys! They get you in fast, they work fast, and they are exceptionally good with customer service. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. They have very good pricing and provide a comfortable and clean waiting area as well as free wi-fi. The only downside is that their location is a little hidden so you have to drive back and weave around a bit to get to their shop. I feel they provide very honest, reliable, and affordable service. I don't know what BIll B.'s problem is. I've been coming here for years after my dad recommended them and they treat you fairly and friendly. The prices are very competitive. We had to replace the window regulator on our Honda Odyssey while on a trip in California, then several months later the other front window regulator broke here in town. I thought this will be a good test as to whether their charges are higher than market. The estimate was a little less than what we paid in California so I know the charge fairly. Rich and Mary are very nice and make you feel comfortable. I get my oil changed here and it only costs $19.95 including taxes and disposal fees. I know nothing about cars so I always felt like a mechanic could tell me anything was wrong and I would have to believe them. But here they explain everything simply with no pressure and let you know if it needs to be fixed right away or can wait. I wish I had found them years ago. read more
