They inspected the vehicle and topped up the fluids, and gave us an assessment to what needed addressing. We weren't in town long enough to engage them for a repair, but they were incredibly helpful and provided impressive details and insight into what needed to get done. Called for a simple alignment. Ask the guy if he had any availability today for an alignment he asked what type of vehicle it was. I told him it was a Chevy Silverado with a small lowering kit. Refused to touch it. I told him all I wanted was toe to be corrected. Cut me off and told me he will absolutely not touch it under any circumstances. Tells me he's not very confident in the technician or ability of the shop. For suspension work go somewhere else. Alignments are not rocket science and if your company invest in a $10,000 alignment rack, you should be able to align just about anything. Had high hopes for this place, but clearly they don't have any knowledgeable technicians who can problem solve. Sounds like they professionalize in cookie-cutter oil change and brake jobs. read more

They speak over you not letting you talk. I told them what my problems were and wanted to go cheapest to most expensive.. they said they can't quote me over a the phone for a thermostat. Well that dosent make sense.. then they decided that it could be a head gasket problem!! Wow what a big jump. They pressurized my coolant system but not the radiator cap. So 70$ just for a diagnostic that told me nothing I didn't already know..Once I get to the shop to grab my car they park my car in a parking spot with broken glass everywhere.. avoid this place at all costs especially if you have no clue about a car, they will run you back and forth trying to FISH for more work... instead of helping people and getting paid fair, they showed me a list of problems I already knew about that had no correlation to my cooling system.. said nothing about it my fans were on or if the thermostat was stuck. read more

3 years of incompetence and attempted murder, that's what I got from them. I had them install wheel bearings and in less than a year they had to be replaced. After the third time in 3 years they said I was out of warranty. After taking it apart myself I found the bolts holding me wheel bearings came out and stopped my wheel from spinning while driving down the road. They didn't locktight anything and they didn't install my seals. Now a year later they still have the audacity to sent me mail after calling twice to make them stop. All and all 500$ for that was the worst experience I've had with any business in any field. read more

I told my 82-year-old mother who has a 2015 Honda Accord with 70,000 miles to get her brakes checked as a safety concern. She took the car to Wilhelm automotive for inspection and they told her she needs all new brakes and rotors for $2200 including a new oil cap for $200. One week later, my mom took the vehicle to Brakemasters who put the car on the lift and removed all four tires to inspect the brakes and rotors and told my mom that everything was within normal range. They said her brake pads were at 6 mm and that her rotors were in perfect condition and there was no oil leaking from the oil cap and no oil leaks anywhere else. We will never consider Willhelm automotive again due to their fraudulent and dishonest business practices. Shame on them for trying to take advantage of an elderly female. read more

Avoid Wilhelm Automotive if you value professionalism and respect. My experience here was nothing short of frustrating and insulting. I brought my vehicle in for diagnostics and paid $135 for what turned out to be a quick check. Their solution? Replace the battery for $300, even though it worked fine the night before. When I declined their overpriced service and said I'd replace the battery myself, the mechanic became visibly irritated and kept going on about "Economics 101," as if charging outrageous prices and being condescending were part of some grand lesson. They they became rude about requesting the veteran discount. It didn't stop there despite me being nothing but nice to them. When I returned to replace the battery myself, they refused to reset a simple warning light, smugly claiming that I hadn't "paid them enough" for the service. Keep in mind, the diagnostic they charged $135 for took less than an hour. This shop's attitude is appalling. Their priority isn't solving problems but milking customers for every cent. If you're looking for fair, honest service, steer clear of this place. read more

Avoid at all costs. Worst experience ever at an auto shop. I'm out 900 bucks on two cars and they haven't fixed ANYTHING!! I'm out $550 for an air conditioning repair that took them a week and wasn't fixed. Same exact problem still exists. Now I've been waiting a week, after prepaying $360, to get my sons broken lock replaced. It was a broken cable, which they asked me to order, on the front passenger side. I just received a call from Darren, a week later, telling me they're was an obstruction causing the problem and it would be more money. Here's the problem ... He was working on the wrong door!!!!! He literally tried to lie his way into getting me to fix a made up problem ... after a week ... after prepaying. They seem like nice guys but don't believe it. They will lie. Period. *sigh Okay revision. I initially left a 1 star review. My family had had our 5 different cars serviced here for years. We've always had great service. In recent years management is different. TLDR they are very pricey make sure you get a quote to compare against. I would not use the old town Peoria location. This lady was very rude and I've had 2 separate instances from them that let me think their staff either arent knowledgable or they did bad (or INTENTIONALLY bad) work on my car. The longer version... Up until recently we've always been well taken care of. Speed: If that is your main concern, use them they are amazingly fast and have always even beaten their own quick deadlines. Pricing: Absolutely awful. Shop around, get a second opinion. Of the 12 recent times we've used them -everything from inspection of a check engine light, replacing oil or service for labor/parts they have only EVER beaten a comparison quote once. We used them anyway because of our history and my wifes father (deceased) used to be good friends with a former manager. We stayed out of loyalty to the company. Service: Awful after doing my own research and getting 2 seperate second opinions the technicians misdiagnosed my recent problem overchagred me (wasnt a shocker) but proceeded to upsell me even after repeatedly telling them I am on a strict budget and need to do the bare minimum for now. They did not explore the cheaper fixes well with me even though my other 2 mechanics did. The old town Peoria location gave me an especially difficult time. They weren't patient. They weren't sympathetic. At one point in time the manager in charge said to me she" doesn't do well with confrontation" she tried to fist bump me after saying this. I thought it was incredibly awkward and this particular time I asked for a follow up inspection on work they did 2 months prior. She said their might be a charge depending on what my warranty covered. I was very clear and said No. I wont be charged. I just want you to follow up one work 2 months ago (just look at the car) for the work done 2 months ago because my light came on 2 months later... same error code. I just want to make sure everything was installed correctly (mind you I paid 1500% for that work) she got irritable, raised her voice and then back pedaled. A manager gave me a call, had me take the car to a different Wilhelm. They were fast, friendly and didn't charge me to look at the car (all I wanted since I had already paid and just wanted a follow up look) and they even did some minor work on the car and didn't charge me. Such a disappointing experience. Extremely rude (Mike), and overpriced. My 19 yr old son needed some work on his 2009 Prius. We were both treated horribly, and then they tried to price gouge with an inflated estimate of $3300 to fix the air conditioning (and a few other things). After looking over the estimate we decided to take the car somewhere else for another estimate. Mike then proceeded to yell at my son because he didn't call first. We paid for the inspection and left disgusted. I always try to give local businesses my business, but I do not recommend Wilhelm Automotive to anyone. Came in to get my car looked at a few weeks ago, but shop was really busy so I ended up having to set up an appointment for a few days later. When I came back later for my appointment, I sat in their waiting area while my car was looked at and was offered coffee and water. Really nice gentleman by the name of Jim assisted me, and as it turned out the issue I brought my car in for was so minor they fixed it for me free of charge! Talk about a great surprise. DO NOT COME HERE. PLEASE READ. Looks like they removed the 1 star review I left a while back, so I wrote it again: Basically, the driver's side window on my previous car stopped rolling up or down and needed to be fixed. I took it here and the guy (I don't remember his name anymore, sadly) said that they'd have to take off the inside door panel in order to diagnose the issue and that doing that would cost $75. I agreed and went on my way. Well, eventually I got a call back from him saying that they found the issue and that the fix was gonna be about $300 or so (which is a ridiculously high price for the repair that needed to be done). I declined to have the repair done and then was told, "Okay. That'll be another $75 to put the door panel back on... unless you want to get the repair done". He did not make a SINGLE mention of the fact that it would be ANOTHER $75 to put the door panel back on until AFTER it had already been taken off. When I asked him why he didn't tell me that before I agreed to have it taken off, he said, "Well most people just end up getting the repair done..." in a very snarky, disrespectful tone. So, he basically cornered me into paying for the repair, since I did not have the proper tools to put the door panel back on myself. I reluctantly agreed to have the repair done, and when I got my car back the inner door handle was super loose (which was not the case before bringing it in to them). I asked the guy to have them fix it and he refused to, claiming that the screw holding the door handle in place was already broken when I brought my car in (which, again, was NOT the case). My brother and I ended up finding some replacement parts at a junkyard and fixed the door handle ourselves. These people are greedy liars. They do not care about you. They care about your wallet. Just do yourself a massive favor and take your vehicle anywhere else but here. read more

*****Review update***** 3/30/17 I have since had to replace my water pump on my 2012 Malibu. I feel bad that I was critical to these guys but it did take a few months to go bad. As promised I would update the review if I later found out that they were correct about my water pump being bad. I owe them an apology and a five star review. I want to start off by saying that I was very impressed by the service and professionalism of this location and really felt they were professional. However, after taking my car here for an oil change they made a list of recommendations for my car including a leaking water pump which made me extra nervous since I was about to take a trip to Telluride Colorado this weekend. I did not have time to leave it with them to make this repair so I was going to just take my wife's car on the trip, however I did have time the next morning to drop the car off at my mechanic for an hour to have him confirm all the recommendations. My mechanic was not able to find a leak anywhere near the water pump or hear any malfunctioning noises of any sort. The other recommendations for hoses also seemed unnecessary. I understand that many mechanics like to be extra cautious and better safe than sorry however, either the water pump was leaking or it's not. What bothered me is it gave me anxiety about my trip and I find myself feeling that I can't trust this place any longer. I'm writing this review mostly so I can have a record of the date that my "leaking water pump" started and to see how long my car will last with this bad water pump. I will gladly revise this review if my water pump goes out or begins to leak badly in the next few months. read more

I hate to not have a good review but I also like feeling there is trust. I waited to make this review to make double sure that there continued to be nothing wrong with my car. I was told I had two major issues wrong with my daughters Mini Cooper. I was given a quote of over $2200. Something felt off. I took my car to Kerry's Auto and they told me and showed me that not only did I not need a new radiator but it didn't even have a leak. Wilheim charged me I think $150 for diagnostic and kept my car for two full days to find out this problem. Kerry's took my car in, immediately put it on the lift, showed me what looked initially wrong, charged me nothing. I did do the work with then and to even do an extra service it was only $900 I was shocked that as nice as the guys were at Wilheim they completely lied about the radiator. I don't know cars so I hope that no one is taking advantage of my lack of knowledge & also wanting my daughter to have a safe car. It's disgusting that I would be completely lied to. I actually took it back to Kerry's after 3 weeks of it working just fine to make sure there was nothing wrong with the radiator. I think because I was so surprised I was completely lied to and have such a hard time believing anyone would lie & take such advantage of anyone in this manner. I think people should be aware. Sadly I think there's a lot of people with money by this particular location & people appreciate kindness & that gives you a false sense of trust. Super disappointed with this outcome. The only reason I rated it even three was because of the kindness. The guys were nice. Lying isn't nice so it wasn't really nice- it was deceitful. I think that's their edge. Sadly I think there's a lot of elderly that take their cars here & sadly I think many people are taken advantage of & they have no idea. This is despicable to me. I have no problem paying for what I want/ need. I do think to completely fabricate something for the sole purpose of stealing someone's money is just wrong on so many levels. I really tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that something was wrong with the radiator & didn't need completely replaced. I was wrong. They just flat out lied about a perfectly good, working radiator. Sad & disgraceful to do business like that. There will also be no revisions to this review as this is a true and accurate of the events that transpired. I read reviews to see if something is worth it or perhaps what I might like. It's very sad when you have the company trying to get you to sway your account of what transpired. Truth is just that. Truth. Liars don't like when their lies have light shed on it. My review would be very different had I not KNOWN they were lying. Do I think the front guy could be condescending... YUP. Over all they were kind. Kind lying is still lying. Update on my review... almost a month later & there is no update. They have every phone number to reach us and nothing! Like another pointed out you can't leave without being told your car needs HUNDREDS of dollars of work. They quoted me $4400 for a new transmission and I had it done for $1700. I took my car to Wilhelm to have my struts and shocks looked at. They came back with a ridiculous quote for parts and repairs, labor. Almost $5000 worth of parts and labor. I took it to somewhere else and learned it was just minor problems. Less than $700. I then told the other company what Wilhelm did and showed them the quote. They said Wilhelm was trying to take advantage of me and none of the parts that they put in the quote needed to be replaced, just realigned. I will not take my car back to Wilhelm. Either I'll do the work myself with Youtube to save money or take it to the other company. read more
