I don't usually leave reviews but I'm extremely disappointed with the service I received. I went to Dee's eyebrow service in IV. All she did the entire time was brag about how she was in the newspaper for the work she did which is great but she literally didn't listen to what I asked for. I haven't threaded my brows for over a year because I was waiting to get back home where I usually do it, but I really wanted to get them done ASAP for an event, so I decided to try it out. I told her I didn't want a high arch because it's just my preference and she replies with "I don't like straight brows I don't do straight brows." I wasn't asking for straight brows, I literally just don't like high arches. She does them in like 2 minutes and she doesn't even ask for permission and she proceeds to fill in my brows with powder that's obviously way too dark for my skin tone. This was her way of trying to sell her own product line "It's only $10." I also asked her to thread my lip line and she completely forgot because she was eager to serve her next customer who she happens to have served before. She probably spent a minute on my lip. I got home and there are literally patches of hair still left on my lip line and patches of hair left on my eyelid and the area around the tail of my eyebrows. She charged a total of $22 ($15 for brows and $7 for lip), which I would have been COMPLETELY fine with if she had done a good job but I'm extremely disappointed. The place I went to back home charged $7 for brows and $25 for full face AND they did everything I asked for with exceptional service. Not only did she rush with me to help serve her next customer, she seemed to care more about showing off than listening to my request. I'm never coming back here, what a waste of $22!! read more

I really wanted to give this experience a good review. With all the positive feedback on Yelp, I assumed there was no possibility my opinion could so drastically differ. First off, Dee is very kind. Her attitude is amazing, so I am certainly not looking to critique that department. In terms of the actual service, that was where I was dissatisfied. While I appreciated her light touch and the fact that she was quick, I found her speed wasn't entirely advantageous to my cause. This was the first time I have ever gotten my eyebrows done, and instead of asking me what I was looking for, I was just flung into the whole thing. I think it would've been helpful to have more of a dialogue so that I didn't leave regretting how thin and seemingly uneven my eyebrows had become. :( read more

For someone who brags about their work being amazing and doing this for 20+ years I'm very disappointed with the results. This is not worth $15, I've never paid so much for my eyebrows to look this shitty. I really tried giving Dee the benefit of the doubt after reading Shekina's review, but I'm definitely not too happy with my eyebrows. And if you haven't read that review, please do in addition to mine. Saturday, January 4th was the last day she would be in town because she's leaving for India and won't return until February. So this was my chance to give her services a try. Dee was constantly speaking to the customer (who's waiting for me to finish) about how she was in a hurry because she wasn't even supposed to come in today and she needed to go home because she hasn't started packing yet. That's exactly what I want to hear, that you're rushing. Dee asked my opinion and step by step what I thought of my brows which I thought was great. But since she filled them in with an eyebrow pencil in a dark color, it was difficult to tell what I was really looking at. And I didn't realize until later when I took off the eyebrow color and actually examined them closely I noticed how poorly they were executed. The hair on my left eyebrow is longer than the right. And what I mean by that is she asked if she could trim the long hairs. I said okay because everyone normally does that. Especially when you get get your eyebrows waxed instead of threaded. My right eyebrow hair was trimmed VERY SHORT. My left eyebrow seems like nothing was even trimmed. But I couldn't tell since they were colored in. Also I noticed I still have a few stands of hair in the middle. I LOVE getting my eyebrows threaded but can't seem to find a place in Santa Barbara. I'm from San Diego and I've been going to the same place for 5 years and I can't always make a trip out 3 hours away. Brow Experts Threading Salon in Oceanside/Encinitas is the best. Honestly I'm not a fan of getting my eyebrows waxed since I've been threading for so long. I've found such great results after threading but I need to find someone out here who knows what they are doing. So if you know anyone, please let me know! read more

I lived for 37 years and somehow never had my brows wax or threaded. I came to Dee as a novice and she explained how she will shape my brows and assured me it will not hurt because she has being doing this for over 40 years and knows her craft. It felt like a rough cloth was rubbing my brow. A little annoying, but not painful. The whole process took no more than 10 min, and she also dabbled a little brow powder to darken my newly shaped brows for the day. My brows were much cleaner, but still looked completely natural. I found Dee at Spa Concepts here through Yelp. She's very sweet and swift. I'm a sucker for anyone that calls me sweetie. I've never called and had her say "no, I can't see you" (including Sundays and evenings). I think she's a workaholic. Or a capitalist. She only takes cash. Her salon is teeny-weeny and usually bustling with folks waiting for their ten-minute thread. Last time I was there, two teenage girls, their mother, and two aunts were ahead of me. So, I guess she takes family appointments:) Her salon is also in a random area of Goleta, in the back of a big business building. I do think her threading prices are high. I believe it's $20 or $25 for the brows. She doesn't take tips. I usually pay $5-$7 in both the Bay Area and Los Angeles so you can imagine my shock and disappointment. However, she can charge that much in Santa Barbie and because there's not enough people who offer these services. (For my waxing routine, because I do that too, I go to Nina Lafuente Waxing.) read more

I visited Dee after a 12 day vacation of no plucking. They were a mess! I was able to get an appt for Sunday, which she is not normally open, but she happened to be there that Sunday so it worked out. I thought I knew where her location is, but it turned out that she is located in a building of office suites off of Patterson. I was in and out in about 10 mins. It was very quick. She has you sit in a barber like chair, looks at your brows and zip zip, you're done! She did a good job and mentioned that all of the TV news anchors has her do their brows. hmm, interesting. I gave her one minus star b/c when I got home I noticed a little tiny spot of blood and she also put some eye brow stuff on me that I didn't really dig. Overall, I would go back if I lived over that way, but since I don't live close to there anymore, I may go to Amy's (closer). Dee is the best threader in the SB area! She is quick and efficient and listens to what you want. She is great at shaping and never overplucks. She is also very sweet and willing to accomodate you in her Hollister studio or her home studio. I always called ahead of time the day of to check she was in and to give her a heads up. She is more expensive than Layla at Paseo Nuevo, but she is a sure bet and you will always leave feeling like a million bucks. At Layla, you might get a different stylist every time and it's hit or miss with them. Plus their wait time is typically longer and parking at Paseo is paid. Dee is a God send, really. My brows were being mistreated and abused by the various waxing techs I have tried over the past year. I grew them out completely and was terrified to let anyone touch them. But when they started to meet in the middle I knew it was time. Dee's place is nice and smells amazing. I've been to Dee twice now. She is super sweet and friendly and her place is cute. However I found her prices a bit high, but I think they are normal for SB area. The first time I got my brows done she cleaned them up well but when I got home one was slightly higher than the other and a little thinner than what I wanted. The second time I didn't want to get my brows done but I got my face (including upper lip and chin) waxed. After the waxing she cleansed and moisturizer my face which was nice. She also told me she was going to thread any areas that she missed. Once I got home though I noticed that she had missed a few spots. Overall I loved Dee's personality, she is super amicable & I liked that she talked through the process but her work wasn't what I was looking for. I might go back again if I am in desperate need but will try to wait until I go home to get my brows and face threaded for cheaper and more to my liking. read more

Also, I would have never known she was located in the office buildings I pass by everyday. Anyhow, I visited Dee this weekend and was not disappointed. Dee is great. At first I thought that my eyebrows looked a little too thin, but once I filled them in, it was the best they had ever looked. I'm no newbie to threading, but thanks to Yelp I found someone in the local area! Dee was professional in both technique and customer service. This was my first visit to see her. I did the full face threading, something that I'm used to paying $35 for in other cities. Dee was $45, but she was far faster and the results are much better than I have had before. And she would not accept a tip. Her salon was a little hard to find... it's in a building that used to be a hotel, but has been converted into business offices. So there was a little, "Am I in the right place?" when I pulled in. Her spa is very cute on the inside! Dee has been doing threading for 20 years in the Santa Barbara area (why didn't I know sooner?). I went in on a Saturday, and there was a little line before me, but I was seen withing 15 minutes. I have been going to Dee for threading for over 8 years now. She is expertly skilled in her craft, takes great pride in her work. I have also had henna done by Dee and she does beautiful work. She also possesses a wealth of knowledge about natural and homeopathic healing modalities. Dee has a warm, cheerful personality and a cozy, welcoming shop. When I lived in Los Angeles for a few years I would drive to Santa Barbara and make a day trip of it - just to get an appointment with her. She is very good about getting back to you if you call for an appointment. Once or twice I contacted her on her day off for an "emergency" thread and she graciously did my brows from her home - which I was extremely grateful for. In the past, I would never have my brows done by the same person or place twice and usually did not feel the results were worth the $10-$12 I would spend. I once went to go to another brow threading establishment in DT Santa Barbara for around this price and was disappointed with the results. I am happy to pay $20 for a full shaping session or $10 for a cleanup session with Dee because I feel that the price is worth it for the consistent quality and service. Whenever I go to Spa Concepts I get more than just a sharp looking set of brows. I usually learn about natural products she brings back from her yearly trips to India and many times I will end up purchasing some amazing product that cannot be found here in the U.S.. Over the years I have also begun incorporating many of her holistic natural remedies into my personal care regimen to address things like nausea, congestion, toothaches, and muscle tension. Whenever I have come in feeling crummy, Dee shares what natural remedies she uses on herself and her family. I highly, highly, highly recommend Dee for her services. She does more than just brows, she is quick and she has a referral program where you get $5 off your services if you refer someone to her. She threads by appointment only on Mondays and Tuesdays, but is usually able to take people on a walk-in basis Wednesday through Friday. I highly suggest calling beforehand to check on her availability - more than once I have arrived to an empty shop and left 15 minutes later with four or more people waiting in line to see her.
