I first heard of Dee at Spa Concepts through an Indian friend that had gone to her starting a couple months ago. I don't have much hair and my brows grow slowly. However, they were in need for a little cleaning up, so I went. The first time I went, she said she was going to just shape it so that it looked presentable. She wanted more hair to work with so she told me I'd have to come back possibly 3 times at least with 2 months in between each visit. I agreed. She did ok on my first visit. The brows looked ok. When I got home, my right brow looked slightly higher than the left brow. I went back to her and she told me to let it grow out so she can work with it. Fair enough. I ended up drawing in my eyebrows to compensate. On my second visit 2 months later, she got to see the amount of growth on my brows, and proceeded to shape it. After she was done, both of my brows looked too thin. I was a bit disappointed because I had much more brow to work with after 2 months. After I got home, I noticed that my right eye brow was still higher than my left (despite my telling her beforehand that this needed correcting). I also noticed that my right brow and my left brow looked like they had different shapes (one had a smooth arch and the other had more of an angle) and both weren't looking symmetrical. Again, I went back to her to show her what she did. She said to allow it to grow out and that my brows will really take shape on the third try. She convinced me that it takes 3 tries to fully get it the way it should be. Like a dummy, I decided to give her another chance and told myself maybe she knows what she's talking about. On my third and final visit another 2 months later, I came back to her and reminded what she did the last 2 times. She said no problem and got right to work. I reminded her not to make my brows too thin, to make both symmetrical in shape and in position (height), etc. She kept nodding and told me not to worry. After she was done, I was shocked to see what I saw in the mirror. My brows were basically a thin line (about 1/8 inch only!). I couldn't believe what I saw! I confronted her politely but firmly about this, and she only said that that was my true brow line! WHAT?! I had much more hair to work with after this 2 month wait, and this is what I got?!? I went home crying and all my husband could do was hold me. In addition, after I got home, I noticed that my brows were even less symmetrical and that the arch on the right brow is closer to the middle of my forehead than the brow on the left. I was very sad and angry. I've been drawing my eyebrows in ever since. Sigh... I will never go back to Dee again! Let this be a warning. That 3-time thing she told me about likely was a scam. She charges $20 (cash only!) each time (expensive for brows), and I feel like I really got ripped off. (She's probably not reporting most of her earnings to the IRS.) And what is this name she uses "Dee's Spa Concepts"? There is nothing spa-like about her facility...no other spa services offered and her business place is the size of a closet. I kept trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, but now I'm out of patience. I'm going to try Layla (downtown Santa Barbara in the Paseo Nuevo Plaza) the next time I need my brows cleaned up. read more

Came here for the first time about two weeks ago and Dee is amazing!!!! my eye brows have never looked better. Dee cleaned them up, but also slightly shaped them (they had a slight "hook"). Just went to Dee for my first time, I have had my brows threaded before, but this was my first experience at her salon! I'm really happy with the outcome of my brows. She has a great relationship with her customers and I could tell that they all appreciated her work very much. The waiting area was full when I went in, however no one had to wait for long because her work was quick and efficient. She did a good job of explaining how she was going to do my brows and keeping me updated with a mirror as she made the lines defined and clean. I have been going to Dee for a while now. I also have sent many family and friends to her based on my experience with her business. I have never heard a negative report back and in fact many of my friends have stopped waxing and gone totally to threading. Dee is efficient but very precise. She gets you in and out very quickly and even if I walk in the door and see a bunch of people waiting ahead of me, it never takes long. Dee is friendly and professional and puts you at ease. Dee is very friendly, however before I sat down I specifically told her I just wanted them cleaned up. However instead she made them very thin, and one is thinner than the other. Dee is great. She is super fast but that doesn't compromise the quality of the threading at all. I also can't believe how painless she is able to make the experience. I love that she listens to what I want for my brows and doesn't thin them out too much, but does shape them very well. Usually they're either much too thin, or they're left thick but absolutely shapeless, so I was very pleased with the outcome here. I've also had issues with people making them too short, which Dee definitely didn't do. She is also very flexible with scheduling. Price is very reasonable for this area (you can't expect city prices here), and she wouldn't take a tip. You're not getting the spa experience here, but the service is so good it doesn't matter. I've tried a lot of places and usually don't go back (including Amy's), but I will definitely be visiting Dee again. read more
