The coffee cakes are so tasty. The Ham & Bacon muffins are original I wished they had some meat in them. Every time we buy them I keep thinking when we slice them to put in oven to warm them they will have added some meat but there is so little ham & bacon that you end up so disappointed. Also, as expensive as they are our hope is we walk in ONE DAY and they are friendly and thankful. We drive all the way to Elk Grove Village to Jarosch Bakery they LOVE their customers. Quick note to others searching for doughnuts, they are only made on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays! That being said, I went on a Monday and decided to try a Vanilla Cream Croissant Custard Cup. That croissant cup was one of the best things I have EVER eaten. I am a croissant snob and have been unable to find a good croissant since leaving Chicago. Way way way overpriced. The donuts don't even hold a candle to Dunking donuts. Shot I was given some donuts from the grocery store that tasted better. The customer is extremely lacking. I went to Detta's several years ago and based on that experience wrote a less than complimentary review. But I will say I was mistaken and let my emotions override my senses. In the last few months I have gone back several times with my 9 year old. Here is what I now know. The staff is amazing and will answer questions with knowledge and understanding. I have a child with an allergy and they didn't shoo me away but gave me information to make an informed decision. The cinnamon rolls can't be beat, they are delicious and definitely not your standard "roll". The donuts are wonderful and my staff loved them, as well as my child. We have tried petite fours and they are just the right size if you just want a little bite. The cake balls were great, though I am partial to the cookie balls. I tried the spinach and feta croissant cup and it was delightful. My next try will be the danishes and coffee cake. I will also order a cake for an upcoming birthday. I tell my child when you make a mistake, own it and take accountability. I own my mistake. Don't be like me. Try Detta's and if something goes wrong the first, go back. It's worth it. read more

Very Nice. Highly recommended. First, the pastries are really good. They have sweet and savory, in various types. They have donuts, rolls, muffins, cookies, and even loaves of bread. The cinnamon roll is bigger than your head. Donuts are very tasty and good. It's a little hard to find this place, and the sign outside just says D Bakery. Very small inside and there is no seating, so be prepared to take it out and either go home or sit at a park or something. The line can get really long, so be prepared for that. I have purchased sweets from DeEtta's several times; in fact, recommended the bakery to friends. As someone who bakes often, I appreciate good pastries. Purchased a chocolate éclair ($4.95) but huge and immediately thought I will share... It was heavy and remarkably cold... nearly frozen. The pasty was flavorless and dense, hard and tough. Possibly, overworked (my assessment), as it lacked the lightness and hollowness common to profiteroles. Initially, I considered just tossing but considered $4.95 to simply throw it out,​ is a tad much... I've chosen to purchase bakery goods from DeEtta's and want them to thrive so decided to telephone and inform them of my experience... as a courtesy. As someone who bakes regularly, including for others, I understand well an outcome is sometimes nuanced in variables beyond our control... Or, we (bakers, chefs, cooks) just have a bad day. The lady answering the phone seem genuinely concerned and requested I hold. A man (assuming the baker) took the call and explained "that's the way we make our eclairs​. He reiterated his position by repeating, "that's the way we make our eclairs." He seemed genuinely aloof and condescending​. I am genuinely impressed with his interest, or lack thereof, in me enjoying his food and will not bother him again. Ciao. After your condescending response to our request, which is evidently a common theme here based on other reviews, we mentioned to a family friend that an order we placed would be available for their family to enjoy on Easter. Obviously they were excited considering they along with others at their home for Easter are customers of yours. Unfortunately the cake was far from moist, the chocolate pie didn't have any flavor and the cookies were hard. They mentioned they seemed mass produced from a commercial bakery. I was shocked and surprised but I appreciated the honesty especially since this was already paid in full by us. It was then I mentioned what took place with the order. Sometimes picking up the phone to work with your customers speaks volumes although kinda expected. Posting false updates especially when they are not factual seem desperate. Instead of confirming exactly what the concern was your response was templated and brushed off as if you didn't even read it. We wish you did because it was extremely basic. This entire experience is extremely disappointing and we will not be returning as loyal customers to your bakery. read more

He could use some refreshing on customer service. Extremely disappointed. Since Fat Tuesday 2020 I've been looking forward to ordering and eating fresh strawberry paczyki for Fat Tuesday 2021. When I saw the post mentioning orders were being taken I ordered immediately. 6 donuts were $16.00. A bit steep but the photos seemed worth the splurge The next day I had a last minute business trip come up and messaged the bakery to see if I could pick up the day after the scheduled day they offered for pick up. After two days I was told no. I was also told I had no refund. I asked they be donated My trip was cancelled due to the weather so I messaged and called the bakery multiple times to see if I could get my donuts after all - all of which went without response. Funny - when my $16 was there for the taking they were quick to reply. Yet when I wanted to get the product I paid for I got no response. I wasn't going to drive the 10+ miles in bitter cold without confirmation that I had product there. I realize I'm fighting principal here - and yes, I'm sure they were busy. Highly recommend this bakery! They have fantastic items! If I lived closed I would be 100lbs heavier! They use high quality ingredients and you can clearly tell the difference. They have lovely staff who are kind and helpful. I have never had a baker item that wasn't delicious. The bakery items need to be eaten the day you purchase them. Freshness is necessary. My family and I are huge cake lovers. The cake here is really good. However, we all shared a disappointment in the buttercream frosting. If you are a fan of sweet buttercream I would look elsewhere as they take it quite literally and tastes more like butter than frosting. Our baker that we had been using since our wedding suddenly closed. We are known for the cakes we have at events so I needed to find a bakery with cakes that are made to taste good, not just look good. DeEtta's more than delivered. We ordered the chocolate cake with chocolate mousse based on Kevin's recommendation. It was out of this world! Our guests were so impressed and so were we. We have found our new bakery! While I was picking up the cake, I purchased a few doughnuts as well. It is so hard to find decent doughnuts that are traditionally made! I am pretty basic in my doughnut tastes and the old fashioned glazed were perfect! My daughter and husband loves the chocolate doughnuts as well. So, this 5 star rating reflects every time that I've done business there. You will be hard pressed to find a better custom bakery. Delectable treats, and a busy, but friendly staff...let you know that you've hit the jackpot! I would make this a ten to supersede the accidental 1 given the first time. Yelp really needs to let their reviewers fix any such glaring errors, instead of standing on their practices and customs excuse. Lame. This bakery has got it going on!!! Everything from here has been delicious! The cinnamon rolls, bacon cheddar croissant muffins and morning glory muffins are all TO DIE FOR. The DeEtta bar is also a fantastic sweet treat, along with the sour cream old fashioned donuts. Clearly we have tried a lot, but certainly not enough!!! We can't stop coming back to this bakery! They supposedly have great jelly donuts but those sell quick. Oh! The eclairs! Sweet, sweet pastry cream delivered straight from heaven into that delicious pastry. But it's not overly sweet! I was a little nervous trying a new bakery. And the reviews were either great or horrible. But my experience was great from start to finish. I sent a picture of the birthday cake I wanted, and Sandra called me back and went through so many details with me. She was very helpful. When I went to pick up the cake, every one of the young employees was so friendly and cheerful with the customers. My cake looked AMAZING, and it tasted GREAT!! Let's be frank, it was NOT a cheap cake, pretty costly. But who else can do what they do?? Sometimes you have to pay more for what you want. I saw this bakery on yelp and had it bookmarked to try. I was in the area so I stopped in and grabbed some goodies. I bought a chocolate chip cookie and an oatmeal cream pie. The chocolate chip cookie was good. I liked the texture but the salt through me off. I really did not like the salt on top and every time i got a bite with salt it overwhelmed me. The oatmeal cream pie was amazing. These might be the best oatmeal cookie i have eaten anywhere. The buttercream in the middle was very sweet and good but I ended up taking the cream off and just eating the cookie because it was so good on its own. The employee was very friendly. For my daughter's 3rd birthday, I went to Yelp to look for a good bakery to order her birthday cake. I only had a week before the birthday party to look for her cake. I found a bakery that has good reviews on their cakes but also stated to watch out as the owner is very slow in responding. With a positive mind, I emailed that bakery and waited..no respond up to the 2nd day. So, I called to talk to the owner, discussed on the price and owner said would email me back the invoice. Nope, never received one. I emailed again asking for the invoice, mentioned that I'm a serious buyer and after I sent it, I decided to check on Yelp again for a different bakery. That's when I found DeEtta's! I love that all reviews stated that they were happy with what they bought or ordered. I went ahead and emailed DeEtta's. Not long after I sent the email with my contact number, Kevin, the owner, contacted me to discuss on the birthday cake. He was very helpful, told me what cake is good with what frosting and filling. We emailed each other until we agreed on the design and the flavor of the cake. The funniest thing is, the other bakery finally emailed me the invoice on the same day when Kevin gave me the final price for the cake. Yes, the other bakery gave a cheaper price than DeEtta's but the price was nothing to compare to the customer service! I prefer a business that cares about the customers and attend to the customers need right away. I hate waiting when I am a serious buyer. So, sorry to that other bakery and yes to DeEtta's :) When I went to the bakery to pick up the cake, my husband and I ended up buying more desserts - red velvet & chocolate donuts, Kolacky, scones, sea salt chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate bread (I forgot the name). The female worker was friendly, gave some good tips on storing the bread and reheating the bread. Unfortunately, didn't get a chance to meet Kevin but asked the worker to thank him for the cake. I ordered almond cake with American buttercream and vanilla custard filling. My oh my, the cake turned out as what I pictured, and the taste was amazing! Moist and delicious! All the guests were raving about the cake and asked me where I got it from. Of course, I proudly say I ordered from DeEtta's. I can say, I am happy that I chose DeEtta's. This a great local bakery. I've seen them in booths at local farmers markets. So when the opportunity to conveniently check out their store arrived I was excited to take it on. I think they are baking fresh goods throughout the day. The cinnamon roll I picked up wasn't stale despite me visiting 20 minutes before they closed. I picked up petit for for my wife and I was less impressed with that. I love their cinnamon rolls and donuts and highly recommend them. I'm curious what they do with everything left over though. I'm sure some things last a few days like the cake balls and petit fors. But they had coffee cakes and breads sitting out that were probably not going to sell that night. read more

I have been craving homemade donuts since moving here a year and a half ago from Oklahoma, where there is an independent donut shop every 5 miles. I guess we like our donuts in OK! I finally found a place to get them! I especially loved the chocolate glazed long john-it immediately took me back to getting donuts with my dad on Saturday mornings as a kid. We have been here three times now and love the apple fritters, cinnamon rolls, donuts, and sugar cookies. I know we will love everything else as soon as we get a chance to try it! Everything has that wonderful from-scratch-real-ingredients taste. The service was great. Everyone was friendly, and we've visited both when it was busy and quiet. A number of young employees--which I love to see! First time here donuts for the office. They were beautiful high quality and delicious!

I have raved about DeEtta's to everyone I know for years and I could not be more excited that it now has a storefront! The custom cakes are phenomenal! I cannot say enough about how much everyone raves about the cakes I have ordered from DeEtta's, especially the chocolate with chocolate mousse filling. The Italian buttercream is delicious and so unique. I am not a fan of traditional buttercreams because they are cloyingly sweet and gritty, whereas DeEtta's Italian buttercream is smooth and perfectly sweet. The artistry and design of the cakes are outstanding as well. The scones are unique because they are not butter based, but cream based. They are wonderfully moist (yes - I hate that word too, but there is nothing else to describe it) and the fruit flavors are wonderful. I really enjoyed the strawberry and raspberry varieties, and I cannot wait to try the other flavors as well. The almond kolacky were something I had never tried before and they were delicious!
