I'm a first-time customer and absolutely LOVED the cake that I ordered for my sons birthday! The lady who took my order over the phone was very friendly and patient with me. She helped me decide what size I needed for 10 people and suggested that I try the Italian Buttercream frosting because I'm not a huge fan of how sweet traditional buttercream can be. I ended up ordering an 8" (3 layer) yellow and chocolate cake with Italian Buttercream frosting and chocolate mousse filling. The cake was perfect and tasted amazing, everyone loved it! We got our daughter's Sweet Sixteen cakes from here. Morgan is great. She was so excited when she was taking our order. She is truly passionate about her cakes....The cakes turn out beautiful, not only beautiful but they were delicious. We got a 2-tier cake with 2 different flavors. The top tier was chocolate with chocolate mousse. The bottom was almond cake with fresh raspberries. The second cake was chocolate with raspberry mousse. There is an older, heavy set man that took my order and I didn't appreciate his rudeness. He has no customer service skills, and after simply asking if he could warm up my bakery item, he told me "no, but you can." Who says that to a paying customer!! I will take mu business elsewhere! My initial opinion of DeEtta's was positive. I had felt the bakery goods were very delicious and the customer service was excellent after going for my wedding cake tasting. After using DeEtta's to design my wedding cake, I have lost all respect for the business. The design was nothing what I asked for and they did not provide both flavors we requested! We selected both yellow cake with fresh strawberries and chocolate cake with chocolate mousse. We were given only the yellow cake and guests said they received either none or one small piece of a strawberry. The chocolate cake and chocolate mousse went MIA. I called immediately the next morning with my complaints and was rudely brushed off to being told they gave me both flavors and the design was exactly what my picture looked like that was provided to them. I have showed numerous friends and family of what my cake was supposed to look like and they all have told me the cake at the wedding was nothing like the picture. I also had my husband call later in the week and was also given the same BS and that it is not their responsibility of what the reception hall did with the other parts of the cake. So basically stating the hall stole the cake and did not serve to us. So upcoming brides be careful if you use DeEtta's and the hall you use especially if it is "Elements" in Naperville. I would make sure the cake is not brought in the kitchen to be cut and they cut all of the entire cake in front of you so you know what you are given. Also, if you are not going with a standard wedding cake, I recommend you have them design a small cake with design you want to make sure they can meet the requirements before you give them money. Rude. We ordered 2 pies for Christmas over the phone. I went to pick them up today and found out they took the order wrong. Rather than apologizing and attempting to fix the problem a man came to the front from the back (assuming he is the owner) and he says - no refunds, you made a mistake when you made the order. We recently got married and had our wedding cake from DeEtta's. It was an upgrade on our package with our reception. We tasted at both possible bakeries and just could not stop thinking about DeEtta's. We chose a combo of white and chocolate cake with mocha mousse filling and American buttercream frosting. Our cake was absolutely beautiful and tasty! I've tasted a lot of dry wedding cakes in the past, and ours was perfect! Our venue handled all the details and our florist put some beautiful decorations on it. I would highly recommend them. We had a lovely tasting with Morgan, and they were able to answer our questions. They also make you a replica of the cake for free on your first anniversary instead of providing a cake topper that just goes bad in your freezer. We absolutely loved everything and would highly recommend DeEtta's to anyone! We plan to return for general bakery treats and needs! read more

Let's be clear, I do not understand the ins and outs of bakery operations. I trust it is complicated. But, as a patron of small businesses for dozens of years, I do know the difference between good customer service and bad. Sadly, this bakery's inflexibility overshadows their moist cake. I purchased several items for Easter weeks ago, understanding that my purchase was nonrefundable. Fast forward to yesterday when we learned that the nursing home my MIL is in in Nebraska is now allowing in-person visits with PPE and a negative COVID test. (We haven't seen her, but through a window, in nearly a year.) Natch, we changed our Easter plans so we could be there this weekend. I called DeEtta's to see what options I have, since I can no longer pick-up on Saturday. To be clear, I never asked for a refund or to cancel my order. But my inquiry and the mere suggestion of compromise was an irritation. I asked if I could pick up even just some of my items on Friday, like the chocolate pie and Easter egg cookies (note: the exact same cookies they had in their case this past weekend when I grabbed coffee and pastries). The response was "No, I don't know if we'll have a chocolate pie on Friday, but probably not." Ummm... it's Tuesday. [shoulder shrug] In summary, my Easter will be lamb cake-less and I am now in the market for a new bakery who does unicorn rainbow birthday cakes and has a killer pumpkin pie. Suggestions welcome! Put in an order for a Birthday cake for my wife and the raving reviews starts with how personable and nice whomever answered the phone was. We purchased an almond cake with coconut cream filing! Everyone that tried it thought it was the best cake they have ever tasted. My mom said it's better then any cake she has ever had in all of her years! I literally googled cinnamon roll near me...and drove. I ended up at DeEtta's Bakery, and waited patiently for them to open. I bought a half dozen donuts, a cinnamon roll (cinnamon hill really...it was huge) and croissant cup item. Yes it is a little pricey so don't think you are going to walk out of here for what you spend at say a Dunkin donuts. BUT for that money I got a delicious croissant bacon and cheese puff item that my daughter would totally want again...we shared. I cut the cinnamon hill into smaller pieces for all to try. They have mastered the art of getting cinnamony deliciousness ribboned through...without it feeling like a bunch of dough with cinnamon spots...it was very very good! It satisfied the bakery cinnamon roll need in me! One cinnamon hill is easily enough for 3 people and that is cutting generous pieces. I tried a small piece of a maple bacon cake doughnut, and an apple cider cake doughnut...which I was fortunate to get as it sounds like it is a seasonal option. Both were very tasty...the maple bacon was very light maple taste--not overwhelming so if you are looking for in your face maple..this wouldn't be it. The bacon is GOOD thick bacon pieces though...so very satisfying. The cake donuts were not too dense, and not heavy...quite well made for sure. My daughter had a chocolate covered yeast doughnut and didn't say much which means it was good and was licking fingers so win win on that too! I would go back for a once and a while treat as it was definitely that! So yes it will cost you a little bit more than your cookie cutter doughnut shop, but I would pay the money for that cinnamon hill again and again as well as trying a new flavor each time. There are also cakes, and cookie treats to peruse. Get there early on Sundays as I was there early and a line formed VERY quickly. read more

Wow! I needed a sugar fix during my work day and remembered that I recently bookmarked DeEtta's. It seems that a lot of people come here for custom cakes, but they do so much more than that. Everything is made from scratch with "real" ingredients - butter and sugar - those things you hate to love. This is no pansy-ass or trendoid bakery! The location of DeEtta's is strip mall-meets-industrial park, but I didn't have any problems finding it. I got here just before lunchtime, when most people are consuming regular food and not sugary treats, so I was the only customer. The two people behind the counter were very friendly and I was offered a sample. I tried a piece of the croissant cup (it's a croissant, but shaped like a cup, duh) and oh my buttery goodness, these are fantastic! Aside from the Croissant Cup, I tried the Chocolate Chip Cookie with sea salt which is quite possibly the best cookie I've ever had. It puts all of those other chain bakery cookies to shame, and after one bite I immediately regretted not ordering a second one or one to bring home for my husband (he reads my reviews sometimes, so consider this a public apology). Most items in the bakery case are $2-3 each and generous in size. The bars (raspberry, apricot, and DeEtta - a chocolate caramel mix) are big enough to share but I wouldn't judge you if you didn't. DeEtta's is a great stop in the area, close to downtown Naperville but away from the crowds. The cakes on display are beautiful, and they also sell a variety of tea and coffee drinks. There's a good chance I'll be back tomorrow, even if it is just for one cookie. Really? You believe that nonsense? I'll totally be back for two. read more

Friday and Saturday mornings, my friends; this is when you should spend some calories on some delectable doughnuts. That's the only time this small but delicious bakery serves them but they are way better than your average doughnut-- fresh tasting, melt in your mouth heaven. Also quite noteworthy are their scones. I always pick up a scone or two for the weekend when I'm here. They make theirs with cream, instead of milk, I presume. And don't forget the salted caramel brownie! A brownie is not an item I'm willing to spend any kind of cash on typically, but this one was to die for! If you are looking for something savory, I highly recommend the croissant cups. They usually offer them in a few flavors and both the taste and texture are pretty perfect. I have actually been meaning to write a review for DeEtta's for some time because it's one of my new favorite places. However, I had such a wonderful customer service experience today that I really wanted to share it. I ordered two cakes for Thanksgiving about a month ago via phone and somehow I made a note that the cakes were to be picked up on the morning of Thanksgiving. However, it turns out that DeEtta's is actually closed on Thanksgiving and all orders were to be filled the day before on Wednesday. Yesterday evening (Wednesday) I received two calls from DeEtta's reminding me that I needed to pick up my cakes. However, I did not check my voice mails until they had been closed for half an hour. I called back and left a sad and dismayed voice mail for them and assumed that I would not be able to get my cakes until the following Tuesday when they would be open again. This was not the case! I actually received a call from Kevin, the owner, this morning and he said that he would wait for me at the store if I wanted to come get the cakes. Now mind you, it is Thanksgiving morning, they are supposed to be closed for the next five days and he is taking time from his family to help me fix my mistake. Needless to say, I drove to the bakery as soon as safely possible and knocked loudly on the door as Kevin had instructed. I was met with a smile and two beautiful cakes, which Kevin also helped me carry to my car. Not only did Kevin help me in the most gracious way possible when the store was closed, he also gave me a complimentary cranberry pie. My family enjoyed both cakes and the pie today. Today is Thanksgiving and I have many things to be thankful for and today I am also thankful for Kevin and DeEtta's Bakery that helped make our Thanksgiving dinner even more special. I knew DeEtta's had excellent baked goods through my several visits there, however, today I also learned how truly dedicated they are to customer service. I am so appreciative and I hope to continue to buy many delicious things from them for decades into the future. read more

I tried to work with DeEttas and they were really difficult to work with as they wouldn't get back to me in a timely manner. I believe I spoke with one of the owners and he was nice at first and sounded promising to work with, but then became rude towards the end with not providing me what was promised for the price given. And this was all in an email, with honest to goodness proof and the guy just reneged on me! They actually are quite expensive with hidden fees while they want all payments upfront weeks before I see/taste anything. Bad experience all around. Not very good business savvy people. I had to find another place last minute after trying to work with this bakery. I give them 'til the end of this year before they close down completely, especially if they continue to treat people this way. P.S. I'm pretty sure most of these 5 stars are family and friends to help support a new, small biz. It's not cool to fake it! read more

We learned about DeEtta's Bakery from our wedding caterer, MyChef and were extremely pleased with the outcome. The flavors and design of our cake were dead on what we envisioned. All ingredients are made from scratch and customized to our flavor requests. In addition to our wedding cake, DeEtta's also provided sea salt chocolate chip cookies, mini pecan and chocolate pecan bourbon pies, a sheet cake and mini cupcakes. Every item was so FRESH and delicious and we received numerous compliments on the desserts. I would definitely recommend to friends/family as well as use for future events! Another perk to DeEtta's, instead of the ancient custom of "freezing" the top of your wedding cake for a year - Morgan told us to reach out a couple weeks prior to our anniversary for a fresh top tier of our cake to enjoy on our wedding anniversary. I have found new and favorite go to bakery in this city! This DeEtta's Bakery is an awesome place for breads and desserts! I am beyond pleased with the customer service I received from them and their cake and other produce was so phenomenal! Everything was perfect and always fresh. Their donuts are also outstanding, it comes with different flavors, and they also offer unique flavors of their donuts. You can also combine it with their awesome coffee, it also comes with different flavors and variety, and the aroma of their coffee is so fantastic. Definitely a must try combination once you are there. You can also try their different pastry products, like their cinnamon rolls, chocolate muffins, cookies, and others. Staff here is very friendly and polite. They are so accommodating and decent. You will definitely be comfortable with all of their staff. This place is really a must visit! The smell of their produce is spreading all over the place, it was so wonderful. Everything there was so amazing. All of their pastries are top tier quality in taste, texture, and smell. Wow, what a hidden gem! After reading reviews for quite sometime, I finally was able to try out DeEtta's and it just so happened to be doughnut day! I tried two doughnuts, and I think both cost $1.75 each. The chocolate long john was probably the best basic doughnut I've ever had. The dough had a nice bite and was soft and sweet inside. They didn't skimp on frosting and this thing was huge! I also tried the red velvet which had the best cream cheese frosting everrrr. These were both so delicious! I also tried a bacon cheddar croissant cup which tasted great warmed up the next day. I don't know how they make this thing but the outside was crispy and the inside was flaky and delicious. It was a beautiful cake, the decoration was perfect, the chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling was moist and delicious. So my parents have been going to this bakery for a while, at least a year or even two (not sure when it opened!) and they love the Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie. They're quite obsessed with them, and I can see why- freshly baked, crispy/crunchy edges with a soft interior, packed with layers of chocolate chunks and a sprinkle of just enough sea salt to counter the sweetness. In fact, my parents are so enamored of this cookie that instead of their traditional wine bottle holiday gift for coworkers, they opted to buy cookies from DeEtta's and pass them out instead. I've never been to DeEtta's so I can't review the ambiance, customer service, or location, but after eating so many of their cookies over the past year I can definitely say that the cookies are amazing. read more

Wanted a chocolate cake for my lovely paramour for Valentine's Day - got a rec for DeEtta's, and I'm very grateful. I ordered a chocolate raspberry cake. I can't say enough about how delicious this cake was. Fresh raspberries dotted the top with chocolate shavings, the cake itself was moist and delicious, layered mousse with fresh raspberries between the cake layers. I hope I've made it sound as amazing as it was. Service was lovely, both in person and on the phone. Would use then again for all cake needs. read more
