911 Driving School in Issaquah should be avoided at all costs for teenagers. Here's the way their…read moresystem works. You sign up and give them $700+. They tell you that your student will have 15 Zoom lessons interleaved with 5 behind the wheel lessons. What they won't tell you is how completely understaffed they are for behind the wheel lessons. Multiple times per day, you will check on their website for any lessons available within the next month, and there are literally none. And if you are lucky enough to find one, they are during the school day. When you complain to the owner, he will insist that they have more than enough staff for the behind the wheel lessons and blame the issue on students' availability like this: "While we strive to accommodate students' busy schedules--including school, sports, and family commitments--some students may have too many external obligations to complete their required BTW drives within the State of Washington's Driver Training School Program Timeframe." He will insist that you can check the website on the 22nd of every month to find appointments, but every other registered student is also doing this, and I never saw an available appointment on that day. Then he'll tell you that students that are close to the 8-month time limit for completing the course are "prioritized" for their behind the wheel lessons. What that actually means is that the office just emails you in the last six weeks when your student's lessons will be, and good luck if you happen to have any sort of conflict. My son had to complete his course by the end of October, eight months after his first Zoom lesson. They were only able to schedule his last behind the wheel lesson for October 25th, just in the nick of time. The owner should be completely ashamed of how this business is being run, and it should probably be investigated by the state. I'm sure they squeeze most of the students through the program just under the eight month wire. But I would guess that there are many families that just get frustrated and give up. I think they're just counting on some sort of attrition to accommodate the lack of behind the wheel instructor availability. Like several reviews on here from parents of teens, the owner is probably going to respond with his trademark defensiveness, insisting that he has sufficient behind the wheel instructor availability to meet Washington State's minimum requirements. It's really sad that the negative feedback he's received from his customers has not motivated him to change his business practices for the better. He'd rather have you believe that his customers are all wrong. I assure you, they are not.

This was not disclosed at sign up (they states there was an email, I checked all of my emails and saw none). They were dismissive of my concerns and assured my son would have enough time to complete before his birthday. However, that was not reassuring as I want my son to have as much education and practice in the permit year as possible. The owner unenrolled me and gave me back my money but that left us scrambling to find a new school. Some other school in the area also had delays in being able to drive - all except for Shield - who I highly recommend. This seems to be an issue after the summer. Moral of the story - as when your student will be able to schedule drives when you sign up.

I was rudely admonished for taking a moment to put on my seat belt before demonstrating my brake lights. The reason? It was raining (lightly) outside. I don't control the weather, and as far as I know it's against the law to not be wearing a seat belt. Aren't you supposed to be testing on safety? There also needs to be better communication about how to proceed after the test. I was told many times to take a picture of the URL before my test (it's a paper at the desk) but not what the URL link was for. Because we had a little miscommunication at the beginning regarding vehicle usage, and the instructor was late, all I got was a quick "you passed" and the instructor took off. No receipt, no paperwork, no license, no proof. I had to drive back to the place to even ask her to verify if I passed or not, and how I could get my permanent license. To which I got a fairly unhelpful reply. I just have to say, I was made to feel very jumpy and nervous before my test and it really doesn't make for a good testing experience. Props to the examiner for keeping a pleasant, neutral tone during the test itself, though the terse voice came back the second it was done. The extra star goes to the woman I spoke to on the phone prior to my exam. While it's hell getting through to a live person, she was very kind and helpful.

They…read moretaught my kid next to nothing, destroyed his confidence as a driver just as he was getting started, their office staff is rude and unhelpful, and trying to schedule a behind-the-wheel session through their online system is stupidly difficult. During the intro session for parents, the lead instructor (owner?) spent 15 minutes telling us anything useful, skipped most of the info slides, then spent 45 minutes telling us why it's not their fault if our kids don't pass the test, and a bunch of stories about the times they have taken legal action against people who dared to complain. (By then, it was too late to get a refund.) During my kid's SECOND behind-the-wheel lesson, his instructor Bill Morris yelled at him repeatedly, and told him, I quote, "that was the worst 3-point turn I've seen in my entire time teaching driving" (after refusing to explain to him what a 3-point turn was, which wasn't covered in the first BTW lesson), then "if your parents tell you that you're doing okay, they are lying to you", and "your parents must be really brave if they got into the car with you behind the wheel." This was my kid's SECOND LESSON, and it destroyed his confidence. And we did more than the required practice homework. Bill Morris is also the guy who teaches the instructional class as well - my kid is a straight-A student, showed up at every class, paid attention, and passed all the in-class quizzes - yet after completing the course, didn't pass the written test. Very poor class instructor, very poor BTW teacher. This school is unfortunately one of the few options in the Snoqualmie area, but whatever you do, DO NOT enroll your kids here - do it through the high school, take them a different school in Issaquah, or teach them yourself and give them the DOL manual to study (which is what we ended up having to do after this course was over). Otherwise, you're spending ~$600 for a net negative effect. Their overall rating on Google (2.6/5) speaks for itself. Some businesses take negative feedback and use it to improve themselves - others tell their customers they are the problem instead.

The instructors are all friendly and willing to chat with you when they're not running around coaching others. For example, some weeks they have a big bin of leaves and other weeks they have interesting beads, or water play. Some weeks there are tables with writing with interesting things or ways to write your name or guess the smell in the cup. There is even a quaint writing center and student mailboxes for sharing letters. An important component is outside play everday no matter the weather. They have a wonderful outdoor play space complete with garden and live chickens. One of the most important aspects of the school is the teacher interation with the students. For ex: When students are telling a story, the teacher is writing down what they are saying or writes down titles or explanations of the artwork created by the students. The preschoolers feel respected and love that their ideas are seen as important. Last year the students were interested in collectively creating a bug hotel, they worked on this project all year. The teachers helped the students generate lists of what the hotel needed and they were continually creating collaboratively. For a few weeks the students were interested in doing a play so the teachers started writing down their script ideas and in a few days at pick up all the parents got to watch a very charming preschool production on the back porch. When you are thinking about a place to start your child's education, Farm house is a wonderful, creative, and kind place to start.

We were disappointed by actual learning that occurred at Eastridge; the "learning center" seemed more like low-skill babysitting -- lack luster arts/ crafts, music, even creative play. The teaching staff overall lacks actual early learning experience/ education (despite efforts to certify people), proper acumen /patience when navigating child behavior and general talent creating an inspiring learning environment. With the exception of two teaching staff members, it's a mediocre staff at best. If I knew what I know now, then based on new experiences and from others I would have explored Issaquah Montessori, Bright Horizons or Evergreen Academy over Eastridge. While convenient, it wasn't worth the lasting negative impact on my child.

They said they can reschedule me to next week, a date and time were given. Oddly they said they wouldn't send me a new zoom invite and just use the old one for the next appointment. The day of the appointment came and I never received a confirmation email. I called them a couple of times and left voicemail regarding my appointment but no one responded. I logged into Zoom at the agreed upon time and waited for 10 minutes but no one showed. I feel this is very unprofessional. If they are already this poor at attention to detail and responsiveness, I can't imagine safely leaving my infant in their care. This is a reflection of their lack of responsibility.

I am an avid review reader BEFORE I go anywhere. This is the review that I wish I had before choosing Defensive Driving School (I will refer to them as DDS). First of all, dealing with driving schools and DMVs is always frustrating. But my frustrating experience was increased 10 fold by choosing to go through DDS. I took a driving test with an instructor who didn't speak English that I could properly understand. While telling me to do things I felt like I was playing the guessing game trying to figure out what exactly he wanted of me. Then by the end of the test he said I failed! I asked what the reasons were and there were a few things he completely made up! He said I cut into other lanes while turning, he said that I was past the safe line at a light, he said I didn't look in my blind spots or signal! Which is all a bunch of bull! I have been driving for over 10 years and my license from out of state just expired a few weeks prior to going to the DMV so they said I had to take the knowledge and skills test (which I was really frustrated about!)..how IN THE WORLD could I fail a driving test??!?!? Well after getting home from the test I called and expressed my unfair scoring and frustrations and the person told me that there was nothing he could do. I asked him then another time, what my other options are and he said nothing, sorry ma'am. So here I am, already having paid $30 for the knowledge test and $50 for the driving test which I failed, and forced to pay $50 for ANOTHER driving test (which who knows if I would pass, because clearly the company is hurting for money, if they think they need to unfairly fail great, experienced drivers.) Super annoyed, my husband called and found that he can talk to someone higher up, which she told him to have me write an email and explain my side of the scoring/driving test and she would reply within an hour...was that special 1 hour promise fulfilled? NOPE. Then, when I went to dispute it (because the scoring was totally bogus and unfair) via email, the lady responded to me 3 days later and said sorry, the instructors comments are below. Nothing we can do, good luck with your next test! Well what was in the that same instructor's comments "below"...a bunch of lies! He lied to the supervisor and said I had agreed with all the mistakes he said I made, at the end of my test! He also changed what he said he docked points off for. All of a sudden it wasn't the same thing he had told me at the end of my driving test. So now we're dealing with my word against his, which always makes the customer the loser in the end. This company has had problems in the past and has also received fines from the Washington Department of Licensing. Beware of this sketchy company! They have horrible customer service and are out there to make money and rip you off, and fail you ;) Also, there's a bunch of other driving companies you can go through that will charge you WAY less than these fools are charging. Do your research and DO NOT go to DDS. read more

I really enjoyed learning how to drive with defensive driving school, my instructors Clay and Paul were amazing! They were super helpful and were good at explaining things in a way that didn't feel boring, even though it was two-hour sessions. I really liked that we couldn't turn our microphones or cameras on in the zoom meetings unless the host enabled it, because it got rid of any potential distractions that other kids might cause. In the make-up classes I attended, all the instructors were very nice as well. Overall, I enjoyed my learning experience here. read more

My daughter recently took a class from Isaac at the Issaquah Defensive Driving School. We had a wonderful experience. Isaac is a fantastic teacher. My daughter actually participated and enjoyed the class, and for a teenage girl that is huge ;-). Isaac administered her knowledge test and her drive test. He is very informative and patient. My daughter took her class at the Defensive Driving School in Issaquah. She really enjoyed the classes and the road driving. Mr. Kim has a good sense of humor, friendly and approachable. My daughter is a shy young lady. I felt so lucky that she had Mr. Kim to be her instructor. She passed her road test on her first try, and learned the skills needed to be safe on the road! Great Driving school! Great Work Book and concise way of taking notes that aid the student. I had Michelle as a class instructor and she was AWESOME!! Very down to earth, not sugar coating anything(which I really appreciated), got the point across that driving is dangerous and needs to be taken seriously while still being very kind, funny and engaging. Both my daughters went to Defensive driving (1 for the Drivers Ed class and another for driving class and test). Both times Mr. Kim did an excellent job of ensuring they were at ease, and were ready for the road. Highly recommend Kim read more

Enjoy my email thread with WMST (in chronological order):…read more First email 5/1/2023: "Hi there, My name is Christopher and I missed this morning's class in Monroe due to several things outside my control that I believe need to be brought to your attention: The address for the classroom is not on the receipt (nor is the time), and the address on the website leads you to a grassy field in Monroe next to Evergreen Speedway with no further information other than to look for a building with a green roof (there are several). There are no signs nor contact numbers to call at 7:30am, including the instructors. I wandered around Evergreen speedway for an hour (I arrived at 7:15am) looking for a "green roof building" and a "guard house", both of which are on the opposite side of the property from the address that is on the website. No "WMST class (this way)" signs, no pictures of the building to meet in front of on the website, literally nothing to help someone who's never been to Evergreen Speedway. By the time I found them (which took asking three different people before I got the correct answer), I was 45 minutes past the class start time (after driving an hour to get there in the first place) and was turned away. I then proceeded to spend another hour and a half in the car driving home against I-405 traffic. The instructor was apologetic (and promised I could reschedule without further cost), and I appreciate that this isn't specifically anyone's fault, but it is *extremely* poor planning on the part of WMST. No signs, no further info on website, no way to contact anyone for help, a vague address and even more vague directions? This class can be done much better. I hope that you will allow me to reschedule my class at no additional cost, as I took two days off work and cancelled a doctor appointment to take this course today and tomorrow. Please, can you help me get registered into another class? Can you please help me get a reschedule confirmation? Please give me a call at (425)313-1091 or reply to this email. I am frequently away from the phone, so I've been using email because it is a much more reliable form of contact for me. Thanks" Their reply ten days later: "Good morning Christopher I'm sorry that I have been unable to reach you by phone on both May 1st and today.. Unfortunately, I am unable to reschedule this course with the original tuition paid. I can re-enroll you with a 10% discount in a future course as a courtesy. I'm sorry you had difficulty finding the course. The instructors did try to reach you by phone however you had provided a home telephone number instead of a cell phone. The instructors did wait in front of the green roof building restrooms per the email instructions until 7:40am to try to meet up with you. I have reviewed the email instructions for the location and they seem to be very accurate for this location" Basically called me an idiot and a liar, claimed I gave them the wrong phone number (no messages at home, which was not unoccupied during my absence, either) and kept my money after promising a free reschedule. No where in America does anyone get away with keeping money after not delivering promised goods and services, except WMST apparently. Do not trust them. Do not use them. Go *anywhere* else. I just passed my 3-wheel Vehicle Riding Course (Basic Sidecar/Trike Course) and I couldn't have…read morebeen more excited! It was 2 days of class that ran from 8am - 6pm. The morning half consisted of classroom time and the afternoon half was riding time. Don't be late! We learned quite a bit on safety and the capabilities of these 3-wheeled vehicles. There were quite a few models of Can-am Spyders and Rykers, as well as Trikes and motorcycles with sidecars. We were able to try out any we wanted. Both the written and riding tests are given on the 2nd day. Lee and Ray are wonderful instructors! They both had a great sense of humor and kept us engaged in the classroom. Their teaching style just works and I vastly improved in the 2 days of class. I had so much fun! I highly recommend class with the both of them. I did get my 2-wheel motorcycle endorsement from this location back in 2009. I took the (BRC) Basic Riders Course as well as the Additional Riding Session. They will hold the class no matter what the weather is so be prepared. I recall taking my BRC class during winter and the rain was horizontal with the parking lot filled with water. It definitely made it interesting when it came down to testing. If you're thinking of getting on a 2-wheel or 3-wheel vehicle but have never ridden before or have experience and just want to get your endorsement, this is the place to go.

Each lesson was well-structured and focused on real driving situations like parking, lane changes, and handling traffic. Whenever I made a mistake, the instructor calmly explained what I could do better instead of making me feel nervous, which really helped me improve. Scheduling lessons was also convenient, and communication with the school was smooth. By the time I finished my lessons, I felt much more confident and prepared for my driving test. The man had me sit down to take the…read moreknowledge test and the woman came out and told him in their language to tell me they're closed. Mind you it was 1 pm. So I came in the next day and the woman had me switch seats because she thought I would cheat. She made me switch seats twice! And warned me that there was cameras everywhere (my phone was with her so there was no way that I would cheat, not that I would anyway) after I took the test one of the men that works there (the one who sat me down the first time) is who graded my knowledge test. The woman had walked out to the front part of their office as I was walking out after I had been informed that I passed the test. The woman looked me up and down and said you finished your test fast and I said yes I did and then she said did you pass and I said yes, and she had the nastiest look on her face and then told me not to forget my ID again as I had forgot it on the table the day previously because I was told to take it out for my test and then told to get up so suddenly, it had slipped my mind that I had set it on the folder they gave me. A couple days later, I called and tried to make an appointment for my drivers test, and the woman was being so sweet and accommodating, and then she asked if I had came in before and I told her who I was and her tone changed immediately and she told me that they had no availabilities Because their staff went on vacation. She's an older African woman my mom's age. I was never expecting her to treat me like this seeing as I was so respectful to her and being African myself I had even a little bit more respect for her as my elder I don't know if there's some kind of jealousy or Maybe she doesn't like Ethiopians. I'm not quite sure what the deal is there I was born in America, so I don't really know the politics over there, but please don't waste your time coming to this business. They are extremely unprofessional extremely rude. They're not clear on what their hours are and you're not able to make appointments. There's way better places near there to do your knowledge and skills test. I never write reviews like this because I know how detrimental it can be to someone's business, but I've never been treated like this and I don't want anybody else to go through what I went through at that place. Save your time. Save your money.
