I 've been a Definitive customer for about 40 years now. Their new owner and current business model is the best yet.

One of the frustrating things about getting into something beyond Home Theater in a Box is the barrier to entry. Burt at Seattle Hi-Fi can help you demystify any questions you might have whether you are a novice or interested in bi-amping into a stereo amp bridge to a mono-block. Burt can hang with just about anyone and has the same positive attitude no matter the conversation. One of the key differentiators with Seattle Hi-Fi vs every other company I have done business with is how welcoming they are to your needs AND budget! Any AV shop will cater to your needs if your budget is right. All AV shops can make you feel welcomed if you are spending a huge amount of money. Burt has helped me when I was spending a single digit % of his suggested budget on an item the exact same as when I was spending more than what he suggested! I have felt like an extremely valued customer through every interaction with Burt, regardless of what I needed or what I was spending. Burt has spent time helping me debug problems AFTER the purchase was complete on a new use case I had and just generally is fantastic. Seattle Hi-Fi is my favorite store in the greater Seattle area, and my favorite AV store I have ever been to! Cannot recommend Seattle Hi-Fi enough.

If anything, they've limited sound quality. Seattle HiFi recommended the Niagara 1200, and phoned me when one became available. I was open to looking at the more expensive versions but was persuaded that I really just needed the basic 1200 model. With low expectations, I plugged my gear in. Wow. Immediately heard improvements. Cleaner top end, more detail, better bass definition, and less ear fatigue when listening to digital gear. Color me highly impressed again.

Their sales people like Christopher, Byron(Southcenter) and Jeff (in Bellevue) are very knowledgeable sales people with great experience. They are not pushy sales people. They listen to the customer and try to provide them with a great solution. It's why myself as a custom integrator recommend customers to them. They have a great selection of audio video products and they are very fair with their prices. Go visit them, you won't be sorry. The Flatscreenguru

So, I went to an old standby that I hadn't visited in years ... Magnolia Hi-Fi. Boy was I in for a shock as I dealt with the same high-pressure tactics I would expect from a Best Buy. You can imagine my disappointment finding out that Magnolia is now owned by guess who? Yup, Best Buy. So, with great trepidation I went to Video Only. What a pleasure to find a sales team of low-pressure professionals taking all the time necessary to help me decide what big screen would be right for me. The purchase and install was slick and, as my current TV had totally failed, the delivery and removal of my old unit was considered an "emergency" was thereby scheduled for the next day (the installers were also great). Highly recommended.

The storeroom is a nice place to shop, conveniently located in Proctor with ample free street parking in the area. We got a consultation in our home so that we could see the products in our space. The quote was given right away. The salesmen was very helpful and told us that the Hunter Douglas line is a lifetime type of purchase and therefore pricier than other options. Ultimately we chose a less expensive option but I think this store is worth a look, especially if you want something less common or have a more complicated situation.

They had a few issues with the process, but what blew me away was that every time I found a problem the owner immediately wrote me a check to cover the damage with no hesitation. Overall though it is a good product, it did a great job of sealing around all of the top and bottom plates, and I'm sure a bunch of other places I can't see. The aerobarrier got me down to 1.2 ach50, which surpassed my target. Their main guy was out of town, so they sent a less experienced tech. They ended up not taping off all of the plumbing penetrations, so we ended up getting sealant stuck in the dryer vent, b-vent, and a few other places. They either sent someone immediately to clean it up, or paid to replace the item when cleaning wasn't possible. They gave me an extra refund for the trouble. I wished I had the more experienced tech for the blower door, as this guy missed several things that would have improved the score. There was a window which was ajar, some plumbing penetrations which weren't taped off, and the HVAC duct work to the original house (which was square footage excluded from the test) needed to be taped off but wasn't. He also didn't know how to do a duct leakage test to the exterior (running duct leakage during blower door essentially). But I can't complain too much, as I still received a score which exceeded my expectations.

Over the past several years I've worked with them on the installation of an outdoor sound and video system as well as installation of outdoor shades for our upper and lower decks. They've done those jobs professionally and to a high level of quality, but you'd expect that working with a high end AV company. Recently while cleaning out an IT closet, we came across a number of items that were ordered on our behalf but ended up not being used during our installation. They had been sitting in our closet for the past four + years. Initially I was upset about why we had purchased these items if they weren't going to be used. During the course of the install parameters changed and I guess they became unnecessary. When I reached out to the company, even with the amount of time that had lapsed, they gave me full credit for these items and gave me my money back. Says alot about the company to me. These guys have earned my business with their good work, but keep it by doing the right thing.

First of all, I would like to state that I have never in my life written a review about anything -…read morecontractors, restaurants, amazon purchases, etc. However, dealing with Madrona has been such a long drawn out and negative experience that I want other people to be aware of what they're getting involved with. Additionally, our friends that recommended Madrona originally said they would rescind their recommendation once their fairly simple project dragged on for months. I would find a different company if I were you. Anyways, we moved into our home at the beginning of November 2013 and promptly set up an appointment with Madrona to update the home speaker system and additional home theater items. We thought the price was high, but they were recommended from a friend that was currently having work done by Madrona. To make a long story short, we signed the contract on 11/22/13 and today, 8/22/14, the project is still outstanding. Work started in January and the original team that came out to do the work was pleasant to work with but stated that our proposal included items that would not quite work with our set up. Therefore some items on our proposal were switched around and the project was put on hold as we waited for more supplies. This happened multiple times... One of our main visible speakers has never had a cover on it. We were told that it was a floor sample and that as soon as our speaker came in (we were told multiple times that it was ordered for us) they would come out and install it. We are still sitting here with a floor sample speaker in our living room without a cover on it. We tried to contact John multiple times to ask where our speaker was and have been informed that he left the company. We have now been dealing with Mike B and this is turning into a hassle also. Can we just have our speaker and be finished with this please? Additionally, our contract stated that we did not have to pay the last 10% until everything was complete, but John called repeatedly and stopped by our home requesting that we pay it because they were closing the books. I have no idea why we let ourselves be pressured by him and paid that remaining 10% - not very smart on our part. Therefore, go with Madrona if you want to pay for a never-ending project where you will never receive everything you were told you'd receive. This whole experience has been ridiculous.
