I had the pleasure of working with Derek again for another Tesla charger installation. We had to pull the power from the side of the garage to a different wall, which required installing an electrical conduit along the top corner of the garage walls. Derek walked me through the work he was about to do and provided me with clear options of where to install the conduit, the charger, and how it was going to look in the end. He even pointed out some options to consider if we were going to expand the number of circuits in the future! One of my smoke detectors starting chirping. I tried to change the battery unsuccessfully. Home Depot advised all 6 of my units were overdue for replacement after 25 years. Needed quick help. Through YELP, Derek, of Green Concepts Electric, responded quickly with a reasonable quote. He was serious, quiet, focused. Changed 6 units. Still chirped. Found additional problem was with a different device--a carbon monoxide detector. Trouble-shot and fixed it also. Then, fixed my malfunctioning doorbell chime extender which had multiple problems. Last August we had a great experience with Derek, so when we moved to Redmond this August, we had him come out to see a lot of work that needed to be done. He set a date and time to come do the work. Never showed and never called. When I tried calling the office there was no answer and no response to the voice message I left. Even called his cell directly but he didn't answer. Used my wife's cell phone and his wife answered and said he would get back to me that afternoon. That was six weeks ago and we've heard nothing. And now no one answers on either of our cell phones. I have fairly simple and straightforward wiring work that I need done to my house. I described the work to them, and they replied with a quote, here on Yelp. I checked with a couple other companies, and then asked them to go ahead and they said they'd confirm the work with the electrician and have an invoice written up for me to sign that day. But they didn't. I asked the next day (a Saturday) and they said they'd have it for me on Monday. They didn't send it on Monday. I figured they were just really busy, but when I poked them a week later I got no response. I never received an invoice or a reply. read more

Trust is the foundation of any good relationship and I trust this company and their representatives. I bought a new hot tub but didn't have enough power behind my panel to support the unit. Cart before the horse I asked several companies to provide bids. This was a laborious process so please trust this recommendation as I built a pretty thick spreadsheet on electricians. I went with this company due to previous reviews, price, speed of service and how I felt about them when speaking and meeting with them. Green Concepts provided a fair price and a clear direction on an "electrical plan of action". This was not a small job. Wall was opened up on the inside and the outside of the home, permits required, digging across the lawn so it was all pretty messy but this was required to get the job done. Monica (in the office) was kind and communicative regarding scheduling and providing the written bid. Derick (the electrician) showed up when he said he would show up and he worked his tail off getting the job done. In addition, he corrected a few issues from previous electricians. He also installed a light over my dining room table. Last, he was willing to work on the 4th of July. What?? Talk about "getting the job done". Derrick knows what he is doing and he can do it fast. I have not had the final city inspector inspect the work that was complete but without hesitation I will absolutely use Green Concepts in the future for my electrical needs. read more

I should have paid closer attention to the negative reviews here on Yelp. One of my neighbors had recommended this company for an outlet installation, so I went ahead and setup an appointment for yesterday morning, even though I saw the many "ghosting" reviews on Yelp. Owner/electrician Derek never bothered showing up. I sent several texts and called him several times, but received absolutely no response. I wasted my time yesterday as well as the last month since the appointment was made close to a month ago and I could've found another electrician in the meantime. The only positive was the scheduling coordinator/assistant Monica. She was cordial and responsive through her e-mails, but she doesn't make up for the lack of professionalism of the owner. Derek is updating my 1927 bungalow, which still has (functioning!) tube-and-knob wiring. He is charging a very fair rate, and has even been able to do the project in phases to help break up the cost and disruption. Derek's highly honest and competent, and goes above and beyond. Didn't show up for the appointment. Did not call to say they weren't coming. Did not respond to repeated emails and calls after the missed appointment window. Emailed the next day to say I could call the owner directly if I wanted to reschedule. I asked why I would reschedule if I have zero faith that the guy will show up or even let me know if he's not coming. Answer was, 'I understand your frustration.' My response, 'well if the owner of this business cares so little for his customers that he doesn't let them know when he's not coming I won't be a customer.' I see other people have had the same issue. My recommendation is not to schedule an appointment with this "company." read more

I was really hoping that the reviews about the company "ghosting" clients were just a few upset customers. I'm sorry to say that after great PRE-appointment communication, the time window for the appointment came and went without any FYI about them being delayed or that the appointment was rescheduled. When I reached out an hour past the time range to see if they were still coming, I was given the owner's #. I called and texted without response. I know it's tough to work during covid, but a head up/alert that you are no longer coming is about respecting everyone's time. read more

I honestly didn't even stop to get any info about what makes them "green," exactly, which is weird--because that's typically the kind of thing I'm curious about. But they provide great electrical service, and that's all I needed this time around. A couple nights ago, a circuit failed in my house, and no amount of unplugging stuff and flipping the breaker would bring it back. This circuit includes not only the lights for the main living area in the house, but included the exterior security lights. I'm willing to play ball with companies that can't drop everything to come help, but this was something worth taking care of fairly quickly. One thing about this experience was how many electricians it took to find one who could come help. One company said they could send somebody over in 3 weeks. Nobody else could get out any sooner than in a few days, but a few of them recommended each other as solid backups, and that's how Green came into the conversation. Their office is really friendly and nice and on top of things, and set up an appointment for the following day. Not exactly perfect, but certainly better than anyone else could muster up. Young cat came out and figured out the problem quickly--we had an old outlet that was worn out to the point that it had shorted out, even gotten a little scorched and melty. Needless to say it was a huge relief and a bit of a fright all at once to know that it had not caused a fire. Turns out that the guy doing the work was the owner, and he checked other outlets and validated that everything was ship-shape. The work took him no more than 30 minutes, but he took time to patiently answer questions and confirm everything--then only charged for the 30 minutes it took to do the work. Kirkland is a little farther than I would have expected to need to call for someone to come out, but I'm confident that Green is worth calling again and again. read more

I'm in the process of remodeling my garage to build a small workshop, and found myself needing to install a subpanel along with some additional circuits for some 120 and 240V receptacles. I have some experience and familiarity with electrical work, and decided that I wanted to do the work myself. I pulled a permit with the city, but before beginning the work, I wanted to make sure that my plan was sound. I called various different electricians, but no one really seemed interested in consulting, even though I was willing to pay them for their time. I was referred to Derek, at Green Concepts, and got really lucky. Derek lives in the same city as me and just so happen to have some time to come take a look at my project and plan. I had a few questions that I was looking to get answered, which would have probably taken 30 minutes to answer, but instead Derek spent over an hour and a half going into detail about how he would perform the work if he was doing it and what materials I would need. He even took the time to discuss and answer some unrelated electrical questions that I had for another upcoming project! Derek is honest, and from our conversation, I can tell that he does good work. These guys clearly have little/no respect for clients' time. Amazingly, this appears to be a problem they've had for years, according to prior reviews, and have not changed at all. I skipped a weekend trip with my partner that I'd been looking forward to because Green Concepts said they could come and do an estimate for me this Saturday. Saturday morning I got a text to reschedule to Sunday because of snow (a reasonable excuse). Sunday came and they 100% ghosted me -- zero communication, no response to my texts, no one showed up to do the estimate. Then, Monday they texted as if nothing had happened, no apology, no nothing. Entire weekend wasted. Don't waste your time with these guys. read more

Review: Because Derek is the sole electrician you can trust that these reviews are relevant to his actual work. With other companies you don't know who is going to show up. He was able to find issues that previous quotes had missed and give a complete quote up front, whereas others had to come back and requote because of issues with existing panel. We'll certainly be calling the competent team at Green Concepts for any electrical work down the road. We received bids from several contractors before choosing Green Concepts to replace our electrical panel. The other contractors offered unreasonable estimates, seemed dishonest, and even tried to guilt trip us into taking out a loan to pay an exorbitant amount for a complete rewire! Derek, on the other hand, was reasonable, honest, knowledgeable, personable, and he never tried to upsell us. Derek arrived a little on the late side for both the estimate and the install, but that's probably because he takes his time with his customers, and goes the extra mile. He's super helpful and patient. He spent a lot of extra time showing me how to do things the right way when I wire up the thermostats and heaters, and even gave us some ideas of how to set up the patio lighting. Green Concepts was a no show twice in the same week for the same job. I made an appointment with Green Concepts to come install a chandelier with my house for Monday at 10:00 am (with a two hour window, of course). It wasn't until about about 2 pm that I got a text message from the electrician that he wasn't going to make it because his previous appointment had run late. I would have preferred to have known earlier (like say at 11:30 am when he realized he wasn't gonna make the two hour window they gave me), but he was apologetic and offered to reschedule for Thursday at 9 am, so I agreed. Thursday morning came but no electrician, so about 11:30 am I texted him to ask if he was gonna show. It is now Saturday and I still haven't received a response. The first time at least he contacted me after the fact to apologize, but the second time he was a no show with no so much as a text or a call. I think I am being ghosted by my electrician which is definitely not what I would look for in a professional I want to hire to do work on my house. read more
